    Testers Announced!

If you haven't heard of deWiz before, you're not alone. Here's a quick insight into what deWiz says about their product: "deWiz is a wearable piece of technology featuring a patented biofeedback system designed to help golfers swiftly and efficiently implement crucial swing changes. With over a dozen unique data points on each swing, deWiz employs 3D motion tracking to provide golfers with a crystal-clear understanding of their swing mechanics."

As the golf season winds down in various parts of the world, deWiz could potentially emerge as the perfect companion for those keen on refining their game during the off-season. What's more, this versatile device can be used both indoors and outdoors, with or without a club.

Recently, deWiz revealed its much-anticipated "On-Course Mode," which has earned the stamp of approval from the USGA. This feature means you can access the same insightful swing analysis whether you're in the comfort of your home office or competing for your Club Championship.

    image.png

For many golfers, this time of the year offers an ideal window for making swing changes and taking lessons. With all that said, we're seeking four dedicated golfers to thoroughly test, review, and keep the deWiz Golf Swing Modifier. Priced at $599.99, it represents a significant investment. Is it worthy of a spot on golfers' wish lists for the upcoming holiday season? How well does it perform on the course and during practice at home? These are just some of the questions we aim to answer through the testing process.

Please welcome and congratulate our testers!

The F7 has been a staple in my bag for years. Don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. Just a trusted club that I really enjoy hitting.

The wedges are several years old too. Glide 2.0. I do have new Mizuno, but something about these pings keep coming back.

I hear you with the Glides.  I've still got the Glide 1.0, there is something about a good wedge that just keeps it in the bag.

I had - and get ready for this, because I've never heard of ANYONE doing this, ever - NINE three-putts on the day.

You're in good company...or bad depending on how you look at it.  Had a Sunday out with my old man earlier this year and had a Murphy's law afternoon.  Started off with a couple of easy two putts and then proceeded to three-putt the next 7 holes.  We only played 9 but rest assured I would have easily reached two more had we played 18.  It became a joke after the third time.  A really bad joke by the last hole.

My season is about wrapped up. I may play some more, but there won't be any changes to my bag till spring at this point. There could be additions in the area of a hybrid or something, but here are the locks through the off season and have an eye on for new wedges next season.

So here is to a mass photo drop!

    The Fitting:

I had my fitting done on Monday. Same as the rest of the group it was done virtually over Zoom, and held as a 1:1 session with Aki, their CTO and fitter.

This was my first ever putter fitting, and have only been properly fitted for irons a couple of times so it was hard for me to have expectations going into it. I know the key to fittings is to remain open minded, and to trust that your fitter will get you into what is right for your game. I had looked through their models a few times to get familiar with their offerings and filled out a short Q&A and after that waited until I was on the call to figure the rest out.

Over the almost 90 minute call, I probably spent less than 10 minutes hitting putts on my putting mat. Aki watched me from head on, as well as down the line and 5 putts from each angle. He liked the mechanics of my putting stroke and told me there wouldn’t need to be any changes there. So we spent the rest of it talking in detail about a couple general topics. We covered: my mentality in putting, their ULBP and other technology, and finally, their putter heads and model selection.

Because he liked my stroke as it was, I was told I had good tempo, neutral acceleration, moderate arc, and good alignment, the issues we discussed were more mentality based. These questions ranged from broad (Are you more of a mechanical or feel based?) to quite specific (Why do you leave your right index finger straight along the grip?). I felt this part of the conversation was extraordinary. Aki truly wants to get to know you, and your game and make sure he has the full scope and not just some data point about how in-to-out your swing might be. The fact that this is included for free with any purchase goes above and beyond.

We then spent the next bits of the conversation talking about their technology, the Ultra Low Balance Point, and the different metals used in each putter head and why. We also then took a look at a short list of what putters he felt would be a good match for me, and eventually selected the winner. This part was also fascinating to me, but I will be going further into details about this after I have had first hand experience with my new club.

Overall, I thought that the experience was wonderful. Fittings to me are always fun because, unlike a lesson, you are learning more about your game how it currently is and understanding it. Having a professional set of eyes to watch you, give you pointers on what he sees and even just in talking out the answers to his questions I came out of the experience feeling very confident about the next time I will line up a putt on a course.

The unboxing video and reveal of my putter will be coming soon!

What model did you end up selecting?

Take it easy on me I was a virgin and when I tell u this was in rough shape you have no idea how bad dinged up and rusty it was, for photographer skills I wasnt even smart enough to wipe off the fingerprints and oil it down 1st. I learned a LOT on this one and acquired a Scotty Cameron Studio Design 3 in the mail yesterday that needs attention but is much more refinish work and a LOT less removing dings and dent work. Not to mention I started with zero of the right tools and supplies to do this and am slowly adding those as budget allows.  I have one more club that needs a refinish but it needs to have the face milled so If anyone has any suggestions on someone good enough to mill a putter to gamer/factory looks at a reasonable price hooks a fellow spy up please.

So I’m fortunate to be able to do training sessions in the house (we have a two story living room) so I can swing freely. I did a session on lunch yesterday and Mrs. BOS was in the next room over.

Well my first set called for 255g weights and I said “89” she heard the app repeats and chimes in “not so fast today huh?”

I’m still not sure if it’s a good thing that she accepts my golf habit or a bad thing that she knew she could rib me so easily with that one…. You better bet I tried harder on the next one! 🤣

You've got a wife and a life caddie!

... Sure I have dreamt about an Academy or SAG Award for best Performance. But a different dream came true this week. My new Humana commercial has run during an afternoon LPGA event... twice! Me and the girls. I can cross that one off my bucket lit. 🥰

You know Sam with the green screen skills, you could moonlight as a meteorologist in the event your local guy calls in sick.

Nope, Cubs didn't make the playoffs so I have switched to watching hockey.

But I did watch a few minutes of the Humana infomercial this morning;  the guy talking was just so mesmerizing and I couldn't turn it off.

Just wait until you say, "hey I know that guy" with a bunch of coworkers around and then have to explain just how you know that guy.

... I don't know if any of you are watching the NLCS but the last two games between the Phillies and Diamondbacks have been crazy exciting. Not just for us Diamondback fans but for any baseball fans. 2-2 and I'm hoping the games in Philly are not as boring as the first two but just as exciting as the last two.

... Some records just weren't meant to be broken. Like a high of 101* On Oct 19th but it was 103* today and without any wind al all, it was a hot walk. Played well with 4 birds and 1 bogie, although one birdie was a 35 footer so some golf gods for putting up with the heat luck I think. 103* again tomorrow and my snowbird friends from Kelowna BC arrive for their winter stay and will not appreciate the record breaking heat.

... But all in all no complaints and some 80's and even a 79 is forecast for next week. Gonna need a sweater of it actually gets to 79*!  🥶

Never knew a Chicago winter coat would come in handy in the desert so soon 😜
