PMookie
I grew-up the son of Mich State grads and being 10 years old when Magic led the Spartans to the title vs Larry Bird and Indiana State was a “magical†time to be a Spartan Hoops fan! I love the Spartans, but I didn't go to State. I'm ready to see how my buddy, Jim Fox, will get my alma mater, Appalachian State, going this year, and how the new coach for my grad school alma mater, LSU, will get the Tigers turned around. I'm a HUGE fan of Bob McKillop and the Davidson Wildcats after working his camps for years, and also Matt Matheny at Elon, a former Davidson asst. I got to be close friends with Kermit Davis, Middle Tennessee, back when we were at LSU, so watching to see if the Blue Raiders can stay ranked all season will be fun! Since I cover 9 states for work, I will be organizing some “business†around hoop schedules to be able to see some teams LIVE! I can't wait!!!! Go Green, Go App, and Geaux Tigers!!!! revkev
College Hoops is my kind of sport - when you record the game it only takes 45 minutes to watch. I can handle that. Berg Ryman
Obviously since I live in around Syracuse, it's easy to guess that I enjoy College Basketball. However, I'm starting to enjoy the women's game as much or even more than the men because I've been an SU Women's season ticket holder for the past 2 years. silver & black
Meh.......... I can't get enthused about basketball at any level. This is when you have heavyweight match-ups, tons of tournaments, lots of great games. Conference can become a drag, so this is the BEST chance to see your team play a REAL contender WAYYYYYYY before the tournament. I'm biased, though. Played in college, and coached for years... Golfspy_CG2
Okay...now we're talking. Thanks for starting this thread Kieldog. I'ts my favorite time of the year, well second to the start of golf season...ha You guys may get tired of me posting in here before it's all said and done, so feel free to tell me to stop it at any time. A few of you may know that i do college basketball reporting in the Baltimore/DC are for a local radio station that has a signal almost as strong as my Iphone...ha But none the less it keeps me around the game and in the gyms with a chance to talk to the coaches each week and see some pretty good basketball. The teams, I focus on are Maryland, Towson, UMBC, Navy, Loyola of Maryland, Coppin St, Morgan St and some other teams from those respective conferences. The radio station simulcasts the segment on it's Facebook page each week as well. I'll post the link here for the first week (shameless plug) if requested by popular demand (which means at least one of you..ha) i'll do so each week. As mentioned it is geared to the local scene, but I'm sure every now and then Nestor will throw me a curve with a question about one of the big schools, that I may or may not be prepared to answer, so if you enjoy looking at or in this case listening to car wrecks, it might be worth a listen. usually about 15 minutes or so. Speaking of the Big Boys, tonight's annual Champions Classic doubleheader should be a good one, with Michigan St. Vs Duke and Kansas vs Kentucky. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I actually was in the Garden for the Big East Semi final round the year that the Big East had three teams in the Final Four. The Villanova/St John's game was incredible. Last night was a great demonstration of why I prefer College Hoops to College Football. If it were football either Mich. St or Kentucky or both would be done two games into the season. They aren't and we were treated to great early season games. Some complain the the regular season in college hoops doesn't matter but it does. revkev
Dez still writes for the Courant but rarely leaves the state. He did a great piece on George Springer's Dad recently. Great win for the Huskies last night. They were actually playing 5 guards down the stretch. This is a fun time in college hoops with teams playing out of conference on neutral floors. Kind of the March appetizer! I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course. It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to. I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67. Rickp
Dez still writes for the Courant but rarely leaves the state. He did a great piece on George Springer's Dad recently. I would only read the Sports Page, the rest was not very good.I hope Kevin Ollie has a good year if not he could be in trouble. There's a few important people in Storrs who did not want him but he was Calhoun's guy. I would like to see CT relevant again.
