Knowing what you know now, if you could only keep either the clubs or Arccos, which would you keep? 1. The irons definitely seem to fly higher than my previous set. archieadams
It felt super light to me as well. And I was gaming an F7. I don't think you can get there in one demo session honestly. I'd suggest a utry or something if it's an option. It took me 4 weeks to adjust but now I'm suddenly hitting bombs. Here's today's longest... That’s good to hear, I just don’t know if I can convince myself to pay that much for something and hoping I can finally find a grove with it after a month. My AMP still has plenty of pop in it (3 drives over 300 last full round and one out to 333) and hasn’t been fitted for me but is getting pretty old so I was really hoping the F9 would feel like a natural transition with a good fitting. bardle
Fairway and Hybrid Review Time: I'm gonna break this into two parts because obviously these clubs are very different, naturally lets start with the Woods: Overview: As you already know I only got a 3 wood in my set. I've hit some 3 woods before but never actually owned one to play multiple rounds with. I will say it definitely adds some versatility to my long game and its much easier to keep in the fairway than my driver. I have a love / hate with this thing, but the more I use it the more the hate goes away. It started out as a hook machine for me. I mean huge hooks, always OB. The more I use it though, the more I see the potential in it and the better I'm getting at hitting it. My smart range with it right now is 233, thats a little low compared to what good strikes are doing. My longest is 260 with several between 245 and 255. I have a lot of hooks that have brought the average down. Gapping wise its just where it needs to be on the good strikes. About 25-35 yards shorter than my driver and about 15-25 longer than my 3H. Looks: I dig it, its like a baby version of the driver, the yellow is a lot on the bottom as you can see from my pic above but I really don't mind it. From the Deck: I hit it a lot cleaner than I ever thought I would. I think there is definitely something to those rails on the bottom of this thing. Honestly I dont try it too often because I don't have any holes where I feel comfortable hitting the ball 230+ from the fairway..just too many houses and hazards for that. From the Tee: Bombs away...If someone stole my driver, It wouldn't be a big deal..30 yards is a lot, but consistency and fairways matter and this thing finds them... Also I'm pretty sure I could adjust the loft down and hit it further...I may actually do that. Hybrid: Overview: Yeah this club is goofy. I don't have a better word for it. I had never hit a hybrid prior to getting this club so its an experience for me. I honestly don't like it. I know its supposed to be easier to hit than an iron and more forgiving and while that may be true, I have a lot of trouble getting this thing in the air. I have no idea what it is but this is by far the worst club in the bag for me and the only club I honestly just don't like. Don't get me wrong, I've hit good shots with it. Just not many. I played almost an entire round with just it and my 3w and while it does stay in the fairway for the most part, it just doesn't feel right, the launch is low and it runs forever, I can't hit it out of the rough at all either so If I need 200+ out of the rough, I have to take the 4i and just lay up. My smart distance is 205 with my longest being 230...with those numbers I just don't have much use for it when my 4i goes the same distance and is a lot more consistent. For a comparison, My 4i smart distance right now stands at 215. If I could get this thing to consistently go 230 then it would be perfect gapping wise but I just can't seem to figure it out. Looks: Meh, I'd rather have the yellow than the white, but I like the matte finish. From the deck: See my overview...I just can't hit this thing... From the tee: Not bad actually, some of my best shots with this thing are teed up...those shots are the only time I've liked using this club and they are the only shots that give me hope that I can one day use this thing well... Popular Post Bucky CC
Not sure how but I actually timed this perfectly. For my 500th post on the MGS forum I'll give my 500+ word review of the Cobra KING F9 Speedback Fairway and Hybrids. Simply put the 3 wood is the best fairway wood I've ever owned. It's long, straight, and beautiful to look at. I spent 27 holes hitting nothing but 3 woods and hybrids off the tee yesterday. I had a playing partner remark more than once that I shouldn't even bother carrying a driver around with how well I hit the 3. The standard loft is 14.5° but I have mine dialed up 1 degree to 15.5°. It's amazing off the tee and from the fairway/light rough going for a par 5 in two. It's also pretty damn good when you biff a driver and still have 300+ left to the hole; not that I've ever done that or anything. I'm hitting just below 50% of fairways with it but I would say it gives me a good 2nd shot about 90% of the time. The left misses are maybe 5 yards in the rough on average. Starting out this spring I thought the one club I would never want to replace were my Ping i25 hybrids. I've played quite a few hybrids over the last 10+ years and the i25 was the first one I didn't hook like crazy. After the last 4-6 weeks I'm pretty sure the Pings will never see my bag again. The F9 hybrids are definitely on the bigger side. At first I was worried that they would be too large and I would have trouble hitting these out of the rough. Cobra on the left, Ping on the right. I was wrong. I've hit these things from so many nasty lies it's not even funny. No matter where the ball is I can seem to dig it out and get a solid shot. I occasionally have a slight case of the hooks when I overswing with my 4H, but never with the 3H. The only area I really struggled with the hybrids this week was chipping. 99% of the time I will hit a wedge when I'm near the green and a putter from the fairway or fringe. If I have a lot of green to work with I'll hit a low 50° wedge about halfway to the hole and let it run out. If it's on the short side of the green I'll open up the 58° and try to flop it close. The hybrids are just too long for me to feel comfortable chipping with them. That being said I did force myself to use them as much as possible for the challenge this week. I struggled with them but did end up with this beauty. Yes, that's a chip in birdie from the fringe. After I made the shot I put the ball back in the area I just hit from to get a pic for the forum. Unfortunately I'm done with the challenge this week as I'm working today, travelling Saturday, and playing in a scramble on Sunday. I ended up playing 54 holes and hitting 56 fairway/hybrids. 5 times I hit a GIR with the clubs. Including my one chip-in I hit a total of 3 chips within two feet of the hole. But most importantly my 3 rounds this week were scores of 77, 79, and 77. My handicap is starting to get into uncharted territory. ncwoz, STUDque, THEZIPR23 and 7 others 8 2 Quote Driver: Stealth 2 10.5°, Kai'li Red X Fairway Wood: Rogue ST LS 16.5°, Mitsubishi TENSEI AV White 75 X 3 Hybrid: F9, LA Golf Tour AXS Red 85 X 4 Iron: Ping G410 Crossover 5-PW: JPX 919 Forged, KBS Tour Stiff Wedges: Jet Black 50°08F, 54°12D, 58°08M, True Temper Dynamic Gold Black S200 Putter: StrokeLab White Hot OG #7, Evnroll Tourtac grip

MDGolfHacker I truely think it is that good. I was fitted to my G400 LST and didn't think anything could beat it and the F9 did it with ease. I didn't even get a fitting for it, I just went with the shaft that was closest to the Ping shaft. sirchunksalot, MDGolfHacker and MattF 3 Quote In my cart Bag: Driver: King F9 9° - LH - Atmos Blue TS 6 Stiff Woods: King F9 - LH - 3/4 Wood - Atmos Blue 7 Reg Z U85 2 Iron Irons: T200 4 Iron AMT White S300 T100S - LH - 3-48* - AMT White S300 Wedges: Indi FLX- LH - 52° 56° 60° - True Temper Spinner Wedge shafts Putter: 2 Bar Hybrid Ball: Pro V1x Testing: Haywood CB/MB Combo Iron Set, 4-7 Cavity backs, 8-PW Muscle Backs, Nippon Modus Tour 115 Stiff, 2 Degrees stronger lofts. Starting out this spring I thought the one club I would never want to replace were my Ping i25 hybrids. russtopherb
@bardle based on your comments on the hybrid, do you feel you may be better off with a fairway wood in that slot or an iron?
