Listening to Michael Breed this morning, he brought up a question for his listeners to chime in on and I thought it was an interesting question.  So with apologies to Micheal for stealing his idea, let's hear your thoughts.

So answer the poll above, and leave your reasons below.

The topic was centered around Phil Mickelson, whether he'll play the US Senior Open this year---My Goodness, is he really 50?---or play the Travelers Championship being held the same week.

Pros for the US Senior Open-It would be his first major as a Senior, it's at Newport Country Club--and if he won in some small way it would be a consolation prize for not winning a US Open.   No, it wouldn't give him the Career Grand Slam.

Pros for the Travelers-Annually one of the best tournaments of the year for the players, their families and caddies, in the way they are treated.  Usually a strong field, and more importantly a win or good finish would help his point total toward the Ryder Cup.

He will eventually move to the Senior Circuit, but he isn’t ready to that yet. He just won last season. I think he still has a couple more wins in him on the regular tour. I hope he played well this season and earns a spot on the Ryder cup team. That would be so awesome.

You can do both. Several players such as Couples, Stricker and Fred Funk just to name a few played several PGA Tour events wile playing in the Champion Tour majors.  It's just this one week that was an interesting choice.

I know, I just don’t think he wants to do both. Doesn’t want to admit he’s getting old

I think if he finishes in the top 15 of the RC points and is helathy, that Stricker would make him a Captains pick.   Unless there are 4 others that are just flat out obvious.

My only thought would be it is the week after the US Open at Winged Foot. Could Phil tolerate two trumped up set ups in back to back weeks? That would be one heck of a mental grind.

So you're assuming he makes the cut at Winged Foot 😜

Two rounds at Winged Foot in Open conditions is enough. That place is tough to begin with, let alone when the USGA screws it up.
