In 2019 they moved the Sunday tee times way up and played from split tees because they were anticipating bad weather in the afternoon. I wonder if we could see 36 on Sunday. Be a lot of upset folks if they have to finish on Monday. But if no lightening, I wonder how hard it would have to rain to pull the plug on Saturday. It’ll be miserable with the cool/cold temperatures - but everyone would have to deal with it. Tomorrow those folks going off early should have an advantage compared to the later tee times. But on Saturday misery would have plenty of company. The discussion carried over to Twitter with Colt and Scott Fawcett getting into some back and forth along with commentary from lots of others. the main purpose of golf is to hit the shot that gives you the best odds for the next shot to shoot the lowest score. The commentator opinion is the player can control the ball better from 100 get it closer. the course management perspective is that you dont place the ball at 100 so you need to look at the dispersion pattern and assess the landing area. The commentator is making an assessment of the second shot before the first has even been hit. The course management guy is looking at the tee shot to see what is the best shot to improve odds based on worst outcome so the follow up from Lou Stagner is 4 years of data comparing those that laid up compared to those that hit it as far as possible to the Thursday pin position. Based on historical scoring it is significantly better odds to get the best score if you bomb away. Weir playing well the first day, Jason day near the top of the leaderboard in a major in a VERY long time and a LIV golfer leading the pack with a resurgence in their game.
