I'm planning to do another round of testing this weekend....Hopefully I can see some improvement.

One of the areas I am improving on is my distance to impact.  I had a rough indoor session yesterday. I almost left 10 mins in...but I kept with it and ended up seeing some incredible results. My biggest issues are steepening and being too handsy. I think I have the feel of dropping my hands (which feels SO weird), but the results speak for themselves. My swing speed is slow to moderate (mid 70s for irons, 85-90 for Driver). I was able to increase my carry distance on my 7 from 130 to 150 ,by making a simple change of dropping my hands after the transition. 

In an effort to show something that most people dont think about, I wanted to show the max hand speed results:

Here is the definition of D2I from deWiz:

What is max hand speed?

deWiz Max Hand Speed indicates the highest speed of your hands in the downswing.

The Distance to Impact measurement indicates where, in relation to impact, that Max Hand Speed occurred.

How will max hand speed improve my game?

Hand speed is a basis for club head speed. By keeping track of your Max Hand Speed, you can see whether you generated more speed in your golf swing. Understanding your Max Hand Speed is also valuable in your wedge game. You will want to maintain a consistent Max Hand Speed when making the same length of backswing.

Your Max Hand Speed should occur well before impact because the hands need to slow down in order to transfer energy to the club head. The Max Hand Speed Distance to Impact measurement should be more than 30 cm for full swings. If the Max Hand Speed occurs too close to impact, it can be a sign of an inefficient, arms-dominated golf swing. The longer the club, the greater Max Hand Speed Distance to Impact.

The ability to input the result of the shot while in discovery mode. That will be very helpful. The device didn’t allow for shot feedback prior to this. 
 

I am really hoping that they can combine sim data with the device. That would be fantastic!

I agree if they can get this integrated with other monitor data could really increase the utility. If you could match the data up to a launch monitor and say force plates you are not quite at a true Gears system with all the motion capture but you are pretty close which would be cool to see.

Now that the offseason is over, are any testers seeing improved results? With the PGA Champ sale they are having I am considering getting this to help with my transition and hand speed.

So I have used it some but not as much as I did during testing. I think it can be a useful tool especially if you are working with an instructor. I personally struggled to understand how to take the numbers that need improving and effectively change my movement patterns. I think that is where an instructor comes in to help take the data and help you effectively change the movement pattern.

Hey @Vegan_Golfer_PNW. I have been using it and have been struggling as I have been trying to make sweeping changes.  The tool itself is very helpful and helps you "feel" the different swing errors you make. I do not use the stimuli as I don't find it helpful.

IMO, I think it is a worthwhile investment if you will really use it and grind to get better. I don't think it is a device to occasionally use.

It certainly helped the consistency of my swing.   I still use it a couple times week, mostly for maintenance purposes to make sure I'm not drifting off of baseline.   Ive definitely improved on the scoring front, but I think that one was more mental than mechanical.

First off, thanks for the indepth review and points covered in the topic.

I was just planning on acquiring this wonder device to improve on my game, but I am having issues as a leftie with the Right Handendness bias of the app. Has any of you used it as a leftie ? or just as a side note : has anyone managed to reach their Customer services  to clarify maybe non FAQ or particular cases?

Hi Nick! I have not used this as a lefty, but their customer service has been great. They have been very responsive when I have reached out.

In general, particularly with higher caliber of players, we do tend to see a lot of golfers that have a slightly positive deWiz Transition number that result in an in-to-out path because of their ability to shallow out through downswing. Viktor Hovland would be a great example of someone that would have a + deWiz Transition, negative Steepening/Shallowing measurement, and in-to-out path.

You can think of the Transition measurement as your "baseline". If you're producing a perfectly straight ball flight (0 path) with a +1.5 inch Transition, then you can treat 1.5 has your own "Zero". 

 

So is the inverse true, having a negative transition but positive steeping should also zero things out? For me I struggle to shallow but I can get my transition and IDDx negative so in theory they should cancel out. In theory this should also help with my hand speed distance too as I can be aggressive then in starting my hands/arms down in transitions.

Hi all. Hopping in here. I was going to purchase a Dewiz during their PGA sale but @ejgaudette was gracious enough to reach out to me and let me test out his unit. I have only been using it about a week but have been getting very good feedback and having fun experimenting, especially with hand speed distance from impact. While this tool is going to be used a lot to get the most out of it, I can see the benefits already on the range in practice sessions. Just need to ingrain and then bring to the course. I will say, so far I wish there was some learning mode on hand speed distance to impact as well as shallowing. Hopefully this gets addressed in future updates.

Which would you recommend working on first?  Something like this (improving impact and timing) or swing speed?  I myself have a very low swing speed, nothing like Randall's 84mph 7i.  Probably closer to 68mph for me.

It depends on what you consider your biggest area of concern. Mine is transition, so I focus there.

Still trying to get the hand speed faster sooner. In other news my iron ball striking has really improved since working with the Dewiz for 10-60 mins a day. I have some on course data I need to collect more of. 

I really wish @deWiz Golf could answer my above question as well so I can tailor my targets to hit.

Same here...whenever I try to increase my speed in this area....the results are awful.

It’s been helpful for some clubs. Example today, was hitting 7i. As struggling with face contact when hand speed got going (was toey). Then focused on center contact  and extending my trail arm more and then hit a perfect strike with the fast hand like 18” prior to impact. Hit it to the 200 yard marker. Mind was blown. Granted I had an 11pm helping wind but still was impressive. Also learned that I can get my driver max handspeed earlier when I choke down to 44-44.5”. When I didn’t choke down the results were not good.

I haven't been able to find any of the new features.   Admittedly, I haven't been looking that hard since I'm mostly just making sure I'm not off baseline.

I'm also on Android and it seems like they roll everything out on IOS first.
