14 Way Bags - Love em? Or Hate em?

I currently have a 14 way bag.

It's ok, but i would prefer something else.

I've actually got my eye on an Ogio Woodē 8 Hybrid. It has large slots that will hold 3 or 4 irons and then single spots to keep your driver and woods seperate.

Seems like the best of both worlds.

Honestly this is one of my favorite bag set ups out there. Had GG had it when I had my gift card it would have been the one I would have gotten.

Use both. A PING Traverse 14 way divider cart bag and a PING Hoofer Lite 4 way divider.
We walk 99% of the time here in the UK and we have a lot carry through the winter.
I can’t fault either bag but the Traverse is so much easier to organise and find a club. I’m not for carrying it though. I also have to confess to using neoprene iron covers primarily to eliminate iron clatter. It does keep the irons from marking up and while I’m at it I clean my grooves after every shot as well. Total nerdfest.

Do you simply pile all your eating utensils into a drawer?  If you answer yes, then the best golf bag design on the market probably isn't for you.

Here's looking at you @Owengeorge13😝

I'm still using this Sun Mountain bag and love having the kickstand option even though it rides 90% of the time.  I position it sideways in the golf cart and it works great. If I opt to move away from a kickstand style, I'd probably choose the C130.

Nice!  I love it!!!!  The person who uses the 14 way and iron covers is one of my best friends!  We should hang out sometime!  I like people with sense of humor!

Fwiw and I didn’t know when I got the c130 cart bag, they do make a c130 stand bag too.  At least they did.

Not for me.  I am 69.  Used to caddy a wee bit, not much, back in blades n persimmon.  Stickin with old tradition.  I have a vintage tan round Titleist, what was back then probably the biggest, I think mine is leather.  4 of the 5 zippers still work.  I love the old fashion.  And, shh, don't tell anybody, I carry 15.  No, I don't submit my scores of 105 to the SC USGA, but when I do, I will drop a club.   I do like the bright multi-color bag from Ogio I think I saw, looks like a 1969 San Francisco tie die acid trip.

Since I'm required to ride in a cart at my home course and I keep my clubs at the course, I'm a fan of the 14/15 way bag.  I'm currently sporting a 15 slot Ping Pioneer bag.  Like many, I desire the "everything in its place" philosophy.  I use the 15th slot for my Orange Whip which I use during my warmup routine.  The bigger overall bag gives me more space to store items that I might need (wind shirt, extra balls, small flashlight for our early morning tee times, etc.) so I don't have to worry if I remembered them or not.

All but three rounds of my 138 in 2023 were at my home course (the only 18 hole course within 135 miles).  When I travel off "the rock" I find the Pioneer bag is a bit big to fit in my travel cover and effectively move through airports.  So I have a small 25-year-old, 3-way Jones stand bag and a recent MGS Jones five way stand bag that I have exclusively for travel.  Yes, the clubs do snag when going in and out, but since it's only a few times a year and the convenience easier traveling, it's worth it.

Have been using 14 way Full Divider bags for almost 20 years and I absolutely love them. Love that they don’t clang around as much and are easy to pull out. A fairly new problem for me is that I have switched to Jumbo Max grips, the Zen Lite’s and the size of the grips makes it a little tighter, so I have to be sure to buy a bag that can handle them. A bag I used to love was the Ogio Silencer, and I see that they have just started producing them again. But I will have to bring a club with me to see if the JM grips will clip into the silencer part before I can go buy this bag again.

I've been using a 14 way bag for sometime now. I like to keep things organized and this is great because I can just look in the bag and see if a club is missing from it's slot. My bag fits perfectly in my push cart and makes it easy to get clubs in and out.

Against…mainly as my only experience was with the plastic tubes from years ago.  Saw some shaft wear with those and increased overall bag weight.

Haven't really been in the market for a bag, but my preference is a stand bag…not sure if there are any 14 divider stand bags out there (they may exist, just haven’t looked as I love my Ping Hoofer).

Timely post for me. This is the Ping Hoofer 14 (2023) bag I was really interested in first, to replace my beat up Nike bag. The problem was, that gray heather color was only available in 14 way top! I didn't want to try it. And it costed more, though they cut the price a lot now I see.

And this is what I just got below, Sunday Golf. Yes, I have iron covers too. By the way, with iron covers you don't need a putter cover. And I use my putter most holes 🙂 For some reason this never comes up when people disparage iron covers 😏

It's a 4-way. I also mostly ride a cart, but I walk sometimes. By the way, I like the stand is a half hoofer base - it hinges so 2/3rds of the base remains flat on the ground. That really beats those with a lever sticking out of the bottom like my Nike. We'll see how it does on a cart as soon as I get out! I may need to replace the iron covers with black for a better color scheme.

Love em! They reduce bag clatter to some extent, but most importantly, since every club has a home, I can instantly see if I left a club somewhere.

My current bag and the one it replaced are 14 way bags, Love them, I think it helps prolong the grips and the shafts from wear and tear also keeps the the clubs seperate for less chatter while walking or even riding.

After seeing all the positive comments about 14 way bags I went and took a look at a few (Ping, Titleist, and a couple of others). But what really surprised me is that at least for the 14 way bags I looked at the dividers were only 14 way at the top. Once you got past the holes the clubs were divided more like a five way bag.

Does a 14 way bag really help you keep clubs separate if the club shafts can overlap with each other? @buckpillar?

Sure does plus you can arrange your clubs in numerical order so it will be easier to locate and replace your club. Yes, they have the bags with individual dividers per club, but they also have the 14 way dividers on top but will be like a normal bag underneath. Make sure if you do buy one to make sure there are 14 separated slot that run the full length of the bag.

hop this helps, have an awesome weekend

Having moved a large number of bags recently at the course, I have seen a variety of types. The most impressive is the ones with the rotating 14 way top. Full length dividers. There is a couple different brands.

The one I like the least is the spiral configuration type. They are full length,  but, the bottom of the bag seems to be stepped, allowing the clubs to separate in height as well. (Think I already posted a picture of the RAM bag that has this?) Removing them from vehicle trunks is awkward with the extra length added.

I have a Nike Air Hybrid 2, 14 way, and each slot has an individual divider that goes all the way down, until about 4-5 inches from the bottom.

I'm loving it so far. I haven't gotten it out to the course yet, but it's been to the Golf Galaxy simulator twice now. I definitely notice it is lighter than my old bag. I initially had packed it quite light also, but I did have to add some more golf balls to the bottom pockets to keep the top/bottom balance right for carrying 🙂

I forgot to add that I have looked at the current Titleist 14 way as well as the MaxFli 14 way and they both have separate full length dividers.

I currently have a Taylormade 7 divider stand bag which I like but wife says I need a new bag.  I promised my son in law my current bag when I get a new one, so that locks in that a new bag is in my future.

I’m really torn on what my wants and needs are.  First, I ride a cart almost all of the time.  I like stand bags because I practice slot and….just like them.  14 dividers seem the way to go.  5 dividers seem ‘off’ and the 7 I have now is pretty good.  When we have cpo, I often will carry my bag from mid fairway to the green.  Shoulder straps (plural) are a necessity.

Fir a stand bag to be useful in a cart,  I Need to organize the putter and short clubs on the ball pocket side and driver/woods on the stand side. It needs to have shoulder straps (sun c-130 doesn’t).  Still think Callaway fairway 14 and Hoofer 14 might work, or they might not.   Can’t figure it out.

I use the Sun Mountain C-130 bag. It has separate dividers and each partition has enough room for oversized grips. It does keep my clubs organized. The most important thing for me is I can easily and quickly identify if a club is missing. Also, from time to time I will sub a 5W or a hybrid or even a driving iron. The dividers identify if I accidentally left one too many clubs in the bag.

Current bag is PXG 0311 Gen5 Diver and 3 Wood, Ping 425 3 hybrid, PXG 0211 4-SW, Ping glide lob wedge with the eye grind, and Bettinardi mallet putter.

While they are out there, finding a 14 way with shoulder harness is not that popular in Google searches. I know many have posted their bags here to look at. Maybe there's one in this post that will do the trick.

Just an old newbie golfer, trying to learn and improve 1 club at a time.
