levlaw
A fun round in the mountains today - Coyote Moon in Truckee, CA. What an awesome course! Was able to put 2 good. 9's together - shot 78 with three DB's, 1 bogey and 1 birdie. Lucky all those trees are 90% air!! ;-) Beautiful course. Quote The Dude abides. revkev
Amazing the difference 5 days make. Just like Jax and Getagrip our course changed radically from Sunday. Dry to wet, firm was greens to medium and shaggy oh and the snarky Bermuda rough is back. My average drive was 16 yards shorter 225 to 241. But the greens were way easier to hold so I hit 10 instead of 6. I was able to see that I've gained a full club with my irons! I shot 76 as opposed to 78 on Sunday prooving yet again that the most over rated stat in golf is fairways hit. 14/14 vs 10/14 today. Better stay would be playable drives hit. This is the highest point average I have had to play for...so I needed to play well..... I shot a 42/43...85 with Two Birdies.....which got me 25 points! I was ecstatic! The first birdie came from a 40+ foot uphill birdie putt on front side par 3.....the second came on #17 par 4....6 footer. sp0rtsfan86
Played 36 holes this weekend through a crappy head cold. It's not the type that puts you down for a week, but I get really sore and every ache or cramp was amplified by double. That and a 25 mile per hour wind lead to a day where I was all over the place for a 96. On the plus side on Sunday with winds still breezy but not quite as bad, and the cold just about as worse, I went out and shot 86, ten strokes lower. My drivings still a bit erratic, but my irons really improved when I decided to stand closer to the ball. Since that, I've gotten a ton of spin on the ball and got consistency back. Peaksy68
Played Saturday in tough conditions, windy a bit cold and toughest pins I've seen at my course. Played off a 6 hcap, 3 x 3 putts, which was the least for my group, ball striking wasn't great but scrambled ok. Ended up 13 over. Played again on Monday, massive change in the weather for the better. Pins were the same as the Saturday round, still crazy tough. Putted well, no 3 putts, missed on disappointing short one. Hit a lot of putts that didn't break as I expected. Couldn't hit a fairway early, and my score reflected that. Out in 42. Next 9 was much better, kept the ball in play. Came in with 39 including a double. Played wth my daughter which made a nice day even better. Jmikecpa
Finally got back to playing golf today at Fresh Meadow in the 4 man member guest. Golf course was in great shape as always and greens were lightning running at 13.5. The format is best ball of two, one gross and one net which is great to prevent sandbagging. I played very well despite the layoff and shot +1 71 and took low gross. For a two week layoff with no golf and only hitting 20 balls on Sunday I was more than pleased with my round. Elbow held up well and for the first time in a long time I was able to control my ball flight on command. As a team we took second on a match of cards and I won the long drive. First time ever for the long drive hole they had Trackman set up to monitor the long drive. Piped one down the center 328 and set the high swing speed at 119 mph. As a side note Matt Dobyns hit one as well and ripped it 10 yards by me with a swing speed of 124 mph. Didn't get a chance to look at the rest of the data but he is impressive. Got a ton of credit to the shop and decided that I did. It really need any clubs so I got a Leupold GX2i rangefinder that I will either keep and use or give to my son. Either way he is getting a nice rangefinder from me this week. Kenny B
I got home on Monday from the LPGA PGA Championship at Sahalee. Yesterday was not a great golfing day (high winds) so I decided to work in the yard. I moved a ton of bricks... literally. I can tell you that it does nothing for your golf swing!! Today was a nice day, and I decided to play 9 holes as a practice round. My arms, shoulders, and back were sore, not bad... but sore enough. I didn't make one par; 4 doubles, 4 bogeys, and a birdie. My shot making was a little off; I was in seven different bunkers. I had one good hole; a nice drive, good 6 iron to 5 feet and one putt birdie on #7. fozcycle 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Had the same problem yesterday hitting three fairway bunkers and three green side bunkers. Somehow managed to make three birdies and three pars from them (two from fairway bunkers) Shot of the day was a thinned 8 iron from 170 out of the right fairway bunker on my opening hole to two inches. Needed the loft of the 8 iron to get over the lip and thin to get it there. Yesterday was a fluke and I am terrible out of fairway bunkers as a rule. sp0rtsfan86
Was supposed to play tomorrow but guess I am not high enough on the starters list of members yet. Had a time around 9:30 that fit my day and just got told they needed the time for another group and got bumped to 11:30 which I can't play. Less than thrilled with my club right now. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy mobile app Sorry man that's one thing I like about the public courses by me. Totally empty. Rolled up at 4PM, maybe a dozen people on the course. Long story short, but the cold/sickness never truly went away and I worked through it. My throat gave out Thursday and for a person whose on camera, there's no worse curse than a bad voice. So free off day for me! Played 18 today, shot an even 90. I had to play in between a Friday evening league, which meant my front 9 was played in less than an hour. Predictably on the toughest 9 my game was off. On the plus side parred 18 which is part of the 3 holes that are my kryptonite. On the plus side, finished a rather absurd birdie, birdie, par, par, par finish. The highlight was playing through a foursome on a par 3 where I stuck a pitching wedge to 6 feet without evening lasering the pin. Sunk the ensuing putt. The group in front them waited for me to finish the hole after the par 3 from just beyond the green.. Short sided, with an audience, I walked up and hit a flop quickly, slightly chunking it but knowing the little extra spin would let it run out real close to the pin... so I thought. I had to hit over a hill and didn't see the ball land, grabbed the putter walked up the hill and no ball. That's cause it was in the pin. Birdie, Birdie with a total of 1 putt. Got to love golf.
