My son got his first win

My oldest son Dakota is 14 and was the #2 player on the HS golf team as an 8th grader this spring. He is now playing in the Sun Country junior tour with me as his caddie. He has played in 4 events this summer and finished 8th, 5th, and 6th in the first 3. Tuesday he played in a tourny at one of our local courses ( Pinon Hills GC) and got his first win. He finished tied for 1st so it went to a playoff hole. They both hit the green in reg but were both about 40 ft away. Dakota was away so he putted first. He was so nervous that he blew it by the hole about 15 ft. The other kid left his about 5 ft short. Dakota's hands were shaking as he stepped up to his putt but he made a great stroke and it rolled in. I knew the other kid was now under so much pressure that it would be a tough putt for him. Sure enough, he pushed it right.

   The conditions were tough and the greens were much faster the Dakota was used to and he didn't think he had a chance after the front 9 but I was able to get him to focus and he made 2 birdies and 3 pars to close out his round. I am very proud of him and hope he works hard enough to realize his dream of playing college golf one day.
