Justin Rose - seriously under rated

Justin Rose won the Zurich on Sunday, shooting a really great final round and finishing birdie birdie to see off tried and tested winners like Boo Weekley and Jason Day.

Having won on tour for each of the past 6 seasons, having also won all round the world and out gunned Mickleson to that U.S. open you'd think he would be considered among the best player on tour. Then how about his Ryder cup efforts over the last two events?

But, I get the feeling he is under rated on both sides of the pond. In fact in England I'd suspect under valued completely, lesser sportsmen have been awarded honours by the queen (kind of a big thing over here - just look at how Faldo loves being Sir Nick).

Luke Donald always got huge love in the states (maybe it was his time at college) - but despite a brief spell as world number 1 he's not statistically or in terms of game as good as Justin.

In England, Westwood is loved, but the poorly dressed one won't win a major with that putting stroke (not unless he backs into it).

So is Justin to nice? Could this end up being the same for Jordan Spieth? Are we as fans so fickle that we really like our stars to have a bit more edge.

I doubt Justin will compete this week, he must be mentally tired after the masters and the Zurich, but would you bet against him at the U.S. Open? Justin could be competitive for at least 10 years or more (if his fitness holds up).

He has one of the best swings in the game, he also has one of the best personalities in the game, I think he is one of the truly underrated golfers worldwide, but I also think that he has the personalty that doesn't need the fame to prove how good he is, he is always cordial, he is well spoken, and is a really good role model for young golfers, I wish he would get more air time.

I think he's going to be around, and winning tournaments, a long, long time.

He may not be flashy, but his game speaks for itself.

Great topic!

I'm in major pools and rarely do the guys pick Justin Rose. I am a fan, so I always pick him, and generally reap the benefits of his excellent play. I've always enjoyed watching him play and have respected his talent since the dunked wedge on the 72nd at the Open so many years ago. Met him once in the parking lot at The BMW about three years ago and he was extremely pleasant.

He makes a lot of money, I am sure. He seems to be sponsored by many companies as well. However, you don't see him marketed as well as others.

Maybe he likes it that way? If these guys want to be more popular, the formula is simple. More engagement with fans over social media equals more fans. Hey, it works Poulter and he is an incredible d bag.

His tour critics say he is one of the best ball strikers of his generation, if not in all of golf today. They also say he can't get it done with the putter. Wether it was the lack of draining putts in the "birdie zone" or scrambling to save par. His start this year I feel is proof that he has been working on the flat stick and will be a major contender all year long. If he doesn't take too much time off or play him self tired, he should be in striking distance final day at the next 3 majors this year, and for that matter, every other tournament he plays in this season.

I never felt that he was under rated. I think of him as a top 10 player who can win anytime he tees it up. He has the power and ball striking to always be in contention.

Yep I guessed that might happen, so my hard earned money wasn't on him this week.

And annoyingly I had boo Weekley last week, so I was sat cheering him on. If he'd won I stood to make 150 bucks from the bookmaker, coming 3rd brought that down to 40 or so.
