Lot's going on in my household:

    • Daughter has Flu b 😢
    • Wife is still having issues with her broken hand 😢
    • Cat was diagnosed with cutaneous lymphoma   😢
    • Me having surgery today.

I have to be at the hospital at 8:30, surgery is scheduled for 10:30, duration is estimated at 5 hours, and a 4-7 day hospital stay follows.   Don't think I will be back on the forum until tomorrow 😞  I'll try to post an update this evening depending on how I am doing.  My wife laughed when I told her that she could do some things she needs to get done tomorrow since I planned on being on community call tomorrow night and there would be people at the hospital to take care of me.

Prayers for a wonderful outcome and a full and speedy recovery. 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹

  2. I’m often “thinking” about putters. The newest release of Scotty Phantoms didn’t really capture my interest. But what has caught my eye was an Instagram post by theequipmentjunkie. The idea of a customized PLD milled putter sounds good. I’m not in a position to afford the full on fitting and customization offering from Ping but something like the PLD Milled “Plus” program may be within reach. I’ve used the iPing app in the past and know my specs. (Slight arc, 4 degree loft and 69 degree lie.) But other than this post I’ve seen nothing more on the program.

Good morning Spies on a cold and snowy Tuesday here in the Motor City.

Steady temperatures between 30- and 34-degrees F with precipitation in both flake and drop form falling throughout the day.

Pretty busy for me again this week at work, but actually gave them a 90+ day notice that effective May 1, 2024 I would be retiring.

Their reaction was "jaw dropping" and stunned.

Congrats on the anniversary @ejgaudette again, and hoping that you enjoy many more. 😎

Make your day the best it can be, and hope that something enjoyable may be in your plans. ⛳

Congratulations on retirement. It must feel pretty nice to have your efforts validated by their reaction to your notice. Most happy for you that it is on your terms, Enjoy what comes next. I know I sure am. 😊

I’m in Eastern PA (25 miles NE of Philadelphia), and despite the snow and sub-freezing temp’s I played golf in NJ last Thursday and again yesterday.  I had to drive (or ride with a friend) and travel 80-85 miles to play last Thursday; a bit less of a drive yesterday.

Frozen ground made it difficult to impossible to get a tee peg into the ground last Thursday (one of the guys in my foursome actually carried a rubber driving range tee in his bag and used it on the par-4 and par-5 tees; we all basically hit the ball off of the frozen turf or looked for tees that were already frozen in place on the par-3 teeing areas).  We got lots of crazy bounces on approach shots and played everything at least 15-20 yards short of the greens on most holes.  I actually had two drives on the frozen fairways that rolled-out to near 300 yards (my normal winter average is about 240 yards). I had a couple of shots that caromed into fairway bunkers, and other shots that bounded over the greens even when I went down two clubs shorter and hit to 25 yards short of a couple greens. Because of this, plus the bouncy putting greens, I shot a 15-over par 87 on a 6,450 yard layout.

Yesterday, I did much better on the “mushy” fairways, although I did have several balls that plugged in the fairways and left some deep ball marks on several greens (of course, I properly repaired all of them).  I shot a very respectable 6-over 78, and was quite happy with my ball-striking and putting.  On three of the seven holes where I made bogeys, it was because I hit my approach shots over the greens (I made only one birdie on our 16th hole, and gave that stroke back by pulling my second shot on #18, leaving it in a “waste area” of scrub pine, with no direct line to the pin).  I played my approach from this waste area on the 18th hole to 30-35 feet left of the pin, which was the best line that I had, and walked away with a 2-putt bogey.

Yes, I know that I am nuts, but I play golf 12 months every year. Our winter golf tour had to cancel its event for tomorrow, and some of us who are hardcore winter golfers were itching to get out yesterday before the three consecutive days of rain that we are now under.

My buddy who lives in CT golfed on a frozen day. A guy in the foursome brought a drill to place tees. 😂

Good morning MGSpies on a dark cold Monday in WNY with no new snow and forecast of rain in a temperature inversion so that rain will be falling into upper 20s conditions and Kenny @Kenny B looks like I might get a chance to do my own putting on the still feet thick snow/ice pack. ☕ commute this morning was down stairs to the basement workspace and network is already online with the work computer 💻 Thank you Bills for another great season, maybe next year.  Yesterday's Veteran curling was great fun, like my golf this activity is not (supposed to be) competitive.

This was the last yellow stone in an attempt to stop red from taking the end.

Dreaming of warmer days on the golf course, hope golf is a part of your day ⛳

    Good morning everyone!

Like @ParFore74x said, it's also the last day for frigid temps here where it's currently sitting at 10°. I think we're looking at getting highs this week in the high 50's although we're looking at a rainy forecast.

My wife has me under a strict "you're not doing anything today" rule to let my feet recover from going back to work and having to wear new safety shoes. We went to ESD at the start of the year and since the selection was slim in wide widths, the pair I bought are not comfortable. Might have to go buy another pair.

It's all good, looking at the Kingsmill counter, we're down to less than 130 days until an amazing golf trip.

I hope you all have a great Sunday!

I can relate. My feet were designed by committee. Finding a EEE width is certainly a challenge. Feet up on the couch sounds like the way to go.
