  1. Played a Stableford today.  Felt like I struck the ball better today than yesterday.  Putting wasn't bad, but I had far too many that burned the edge or came to a stop just short of falling in.  Still didn't score well today despite feeling better about the shots.  43/42.  Lot of bogeys (and 2 doubles).

  2. Double bogey on #9 for a 41, then a 39 on the back for an 80.  Should have been 78 or better, but there you have it....some stupid errors cost me and I have to live with them.  Putted well today.  Enjoying the new Edison wedges I put in my bag.  Still working on distance control with them, but I do like the feel of them, the spin that I get from them.

Yeah, I’ve been frustrated for 2 years now with my short game. The joke with my playing buddies is I go from a single digit player to a +25 once I get inside 100 and put a wedge in my hands. 🙄 I turn more rounds that should be high 70 to low 80’s into high 80’s than anyone I know.

My chipping was legendary at my previous club.  One of my pards gave me the nickname "Master Chip" as a play on my Navy rank of Master Chief.  And, for the record, it was not for stellar chipping, but rather a sarcastic nick name due to my poor chipping.

  4. First day back after dealing with my kidney stone issue and 2 weeks between rounds.  It showed.  I was hoping for better results, but alas that didn't pan out.  Thursday is our MGA day and is always a shotgun start.  We started on #12, a par 3.  I hit the green in regulation, but promptly 3 putted the slower than normal green.  Shot an 84, which included a penalty for hitting the wrong ball and a triple bogey.  Just seemed to struggle all day with decent ball striking, as well as putting.  Too much on my mind not related to the task at hand didn't help matters.  I did manage a birdie on my home hole, par 5 #18.

  5. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what answer you're looking for.  But I am curious about $80 fee for GHIN .... that's far more than I pay at my club currently or at my previous club.  Who is administering this fee?  The local golf course?

First time out this morning after my knee replacement 7 weeks ago,  great to be out again.  Warm morning, light breeze and humidity wasn’t bad.  Just did the “chip & putt” thing and that was about all I could and want to do.  Had to get used to walking up and down a few minor hills, downhill not so good.
I will definitely need a bit of practice as I stunk chipping, putter was OK.
Have a 7:00am Tee Time with Bacon Boyz Friday!!

Somewhere about 7-8 weeks after my second knee replacement, my 2nd outing was a "Guys and Dolls" scramble and I had my first and only hole in one. So...you got that to look forward to!  😄

As a drill the pause is great. Several instructors refer to it as the hideki drill. But in an actual swing including hideki’s there is no pause at the top. The swing is a constant motion.

AMG does a real good job diving into this

As you know, feel and real aren't always the same.  Doing the drill, I was very deliberate about holding the pause.  But, on the course, I would think that my feel of a pause would really be just a more deliberate change of direction.

  8. Worked a timing/sequence drill today with my 7 iron.  I'd take the club to the top, do a prolonged pause at the top of my swing, then focus on starting the downswing with lower body and purposely keeping hands as passive as I could.  Effectively, I was allowing my hands to drop into the slot and deliver the club head to the ball on a slight inside to out path.  The results were very good.  I found myself hitting it a bit longer (with regards to the range balls) with a nice baby draw.

I have never been one that paused at the top of my swing, so this was an interesting drill.  It may merit exploring the pause deeper to see if it improves my ball striking on course....not a long pause, but the feel of one, anyway.  @chisag-- any thoughts on an intentional pause?  I did notice that the move helped ensure that I finished the backswing (which is a fault that I occasionally find in my swing)

  9. The owner of a golf course in Georgia was confused about paying an invoice, so he decided to ask his secretary for some mathematical help.

He called her into his office and said, "Y'all graduated from the University of Georgia and I need some help. If I wuz to give yew $20,000, minus 14%, how much would you take off?"

The secretary thought a moment, and then replied, "Everthang but my earrings."

Or as is more the case for me, if the ball is going a little bit right of where I aimed, why does it always bounce further right? Why doesn’t it bounce back to the middle?

I mean, you would think it would be 50/50, but that hasn’t been my experience 😬😜

    Elementary Watson....just plain physics.  🙂

  11. At my age and not being an avid gamer, neither Xbox or Playstation have much appeal to me.  I did, however, have the opportunity to experience an Oculus II VR headset at a friend's house last week.  It was the most incredible gaming experience that I've ever experienced.

  12. Developed a kidney stone Tuesday night.  Very painful first night, subsided Wed.  Reared back up for a bit this morning prior to Dr's appt.  Imaging confirmed that I do indeed have a stone.  Awaiting referral to urologist.  Decided to cancel next couple of rounds of golf just to be on the safe side until I know more.  Currently, I'm not in the severe pain of a stone, but I've been through them before and know how painful that they can be!!!

  13. I've been playing the Maxfli Tour X of late.  I really like them.  Prior to going with Maxfli, Snell MTBX was my ball of choice, but because of supply issues I was exploring other options....Bridgestone RX, Srixon Vx, and Mizuno RBS.  While I liked the Bridgestone somewhat, I didn't feel it was quite right.  I was going to give Taylormade TP5X another go (ball of choice prior to Snell) and then going to reconsider Titleist Pro V1 again (While it's a great ball, EVERYONE plays them and it's too easy to hit the wrong ball when you're not paying close attention for the markings, which was my lame excuse to quit playing them 4 or 5 years ago).  In any case, I liked the Maxfli offering enough to go ahead and play it exclusively.
