So I was staring at my new ball in the lake the other day and it dawned on me that I used to have a golf ball retriever that would open into a rake.

My dad gave it to me and eventually it just wore out.

Apparently the retrievall has not been made for decades but I found one on eBay for a reasonable price.

My best story is playing a sort 3 par in North Vancouver Canada and ended up playing with two ladies.  I was fishing out golf balls out of the small ponds as we walked along and just throwing them onto the  fairway.  Behind us was a single junior golfer with his mom walking along.  You could see how delighted he was to pickup those balls on the course.

And the Canadian ladies said it was nice to meet a kind sole from the USA.

I also have not seen one like that. I remember as a kid I had this plastic rake that attached to the ball retriever and we would collect dozens of balls. You'd just drag it along the bottom and it'd catch almost all of them.

I'm surprised I can't find something like it on Amazon. I found one site selling something similar but they are out of stock. The one I had was more curved if I remember correctly. I'm not sure if the dimensions lend themselves to being 3d printed, but it was cheap and worked incredibly well. I'm surprised there aren't more similar options out there.

I just made the biggest change!  I told my friend if I buy a new putter you can smack me in the face.  I have had a Positive Putter P2 for over 20 years.  It has a toe up blade setup and really almost never twists.  I have loved the Evnroll tech since I first saw it here on this sight when Adam broke down the tech.   I bought an ER2 a year later and it didn't work as well as the P2.  I sent it to Positive Putters and had it set up like my P2 but it just never had the balance like the P2.  I almost never buy anything new when it first comes out.  Actually it has never happened before.  What did I buy?  The New Evnroll ZERO Z2s Blade Putter!

Neither. I think I’m staying with the Paradym. Just can’t justify that kind of money. Although the Dark Speed LS was the front runner. To be honest, it was all about the shaft. If I could buy the head for $350, I’d do it and put my own shaft in. The dark speed was longer and more forgiving than the GT3. My club doesn’t have the GT4. I’m fitted for that, I felt like I was settling.

Arriving today!  The $20 putter, Rife Hybrid.  Wasn't $20, found one for that but in pretty sad condition.   Had to pay a whopping $55 plus shipping.  But listed in very good shape, pictures look good and grip looks new.

Been a long time since I used a Rife, it was great, no idea what happened to it.  🤞🤞🤞

Yeah, I really liked demoing the DarkSpeed, and with the right shaft.... well, it's longer than the Paradym for me. The UST shaft in stiff is pretty good for me, but I might retip a Newton and a Steadfast. I just don't know yet, and with the season almost over for us in Wyoming, I can get along with what I have.

I tried the Dark Speed as well but for some reason it just did not set well to my eye and while I didn't hit it poorly, I never really had a good solid strike with it either.

The first time I tried it, I drove the first three holes on my course. The third hole, I hit the ball toe high and it still went. The first three holes on my home course are around 310-330 depending on the tee placement. I was pleasantly shocked. I should have bought it then and there, but I didn't.

I put in an application back in August for tee times on the Old Course next spring, and was expecting to get the results of the tee time lottery last week. Or so I thought. No results last week, so I looked for a confirmation email from August. Nope. So, suspecting I already knew the answer, I emailed St. Andrews to see if I had actually submitted the application. Answer: Also nope. Dumbarse. No prearranged OC tee time for me next year. If I go back to Scotland, which I probably will, the OC will not be part of the itinerary.

On the bright side, I don't have to come up with $841 in the next week to pay for the OC round, plus a round on the Castle Course, a food and beverage voucher and a voucher for range balls at their Golf Academy. If that sounds like a lot of money, it is, but a lot cheaper than getting on the OC through Hidden Links or Perry Golf or one of the other tour operators.

So I guess this is a case of what I thought I'd bought lately.

I think you should go with the club that gives you the best performance for your swing. In my case it happened to be the GT4, but had it been the Dark Speed that's the club that would be in my bag. I have a preference for Titleist woods; however, I would not play them if there was a club better suited to my swing that produced better results.

You really need to get your hands on both, Dark Speed and GT4 and do a head-to-head comparison to see which performs better for you. Got any club fitter friends in your neck of the woods that could possibly arrange that for you?
