MGoBlue100
Ok, so I'm not sure if anyone wants to hear a review from a guy who shoots 92-97 but here goes. So after another season of not hitting my irons worth a darn I decided to grab the 8iron off of eB$y. When I took it out of the box I remember looking down at it like, how in the world will a half moon shaped club help me? So I headed to the range, dropped a ball and hit a crisp, rocket that sailed dead right barely avoiding the poor guy next to me! He looked over at me, saw the club, and immediately said "I'm not moving so you better learn that thing quick!" Lol A few swings without a ball later I tried again, not as bad but still not straight. After about 5 more balls I got it! Once your hands get in front and that line splits your nose (imaginary for those who don't have one) the ball launches dead straight, high, and longer than my 8 iron. I took it to,the range about 2 more times before I actually played. That was the true test, my first round out I hit about 5 balls with it to warm up, switched to my 8 iron for a few then to the first tee. That round I smashed my irons like I've never had. No chunked shots, no thin shots, just high soft landing draws. It was more of the same the next two rounds. The thing I noticed from those rounds was how much easier I was swinging and how much better I was striking the ball. If this helped a hacker like me than it should help everyone. Go grab one with confidence and enjoy your rounds! Mike Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy Yep. This... Best training aid, IMHO. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy "Where'd it go?" Just a few posts above and back in Dec of 2017 I said I was going to start practicing with my DST again/more. And I have recently. I've decided to carry it in my bag for awhile so I'd be sure to have it with me and use it. It works. One thing I've noticed many people say is that it's difficult to hit or like you Pizzle; basically shanking it. I never had that problem and generally think it's an easy club to hit. And... hit well. I must say though.... with only a few swings of the DST your game has turned pro. My muscle memory doesn't transform that quickly. McaseyM
Has anyone used the Hanger? I'm interested in both, as they are used for full swing. I have the SKLZ version of the orange whip, but need something for ball striking. would love feedback from anyone that has used either/both. I'm thinking the DST as i can just grab it and use it versus attaching to my club, but then again, the Hanger would have me use my actual own club. https://www.hangergolf.com/ What's in my bag: Driver : F9 10.5, Fujikura Speeder 757 TR Fairway F9 15.5° Aldila Rogue White 80X Hybrid: King F7 18° KBS Tour PROTO Hybrid 95 S+ Irons: z585 4i - 6i, z785 7i-PW, Nippon Modus 120X Wedges: CBX 50.11, 55.11, 60.10 TT DG S400 Black Putter: Honey Badger 34" Ball: Q-Star Tour
deejaid
I've got both the DST Compressor 8-iron and Wedge available if someone wants them for a good price. They really do work well. I have addressed the ball for years with my hands well in front so these DST clubs felt totally natural to me as I have been doing it for years, hence, they didn't do much for my game. PlaidJacket
KC, as you probably noticed.... deejaid (see above) might consider selling his 8i model. If you have the slightest interest I'd talk to him. I have the 8i I purchased a few years ago. I've recently started carrying it to the practice tee again and I like using it. deejaid is a trusted seller BTW. One thing though... if his still has the stock grip I'd replace it. The stock red grips DST puts on these clubs will turn into hard plastic in no time. McaseyM
going with the DST, thanks to Deejaid and advice from you gents!! The hanger looks good, and hopefully someone can give it a go. Slap
DST Golf is having a 40% off sale for February 2018! The scrolling ad on their home page (DST) states that you have to buy a compressor and the CR-10, but I just bought both compressors for 133. $80 savings with the code: FEBSALE18 I put both the wedge and iron compressor in my cart, then added the promo code and still got the discount without the CR-10 being purchased. So here's a good question for @MGoBlue100. You said you don't use the wedge as much as the iron. So do you think that the 8 iron transition club, the CR-10, would benefit you more then having the wedge compressor? I don't know much about the CR training aid, but seems to help you transition into hitting the real irons. MaxEntropy
The temperature made it to about 40 today so I took the compressor wedge, PW, 7i, and 5i to the range today. The club didn't feel as weird as I thought it might at first (3/4 swings). Full swings felt a bit strange because I could feel something at the top of my swing. I assume my transition was too quick (I've always had a pretty quick swing). I hit about 1/3-1/2 of the bucket with the compressor then worked my way up in my irons. Very pleased with the results for first time out.
