Welp I'm getting sinus surgery next Wednesday so no more golf for at least a month they tell me. At least I'll be able to breath again though, as I've had a chronic sinus infection for almost 12 years and a severely deviated septum in my nose. Anybody know good drills that can be done from the couch?

I had sinus and throat surgery three years ago, and although it sucked at the time, I feel so much better now! Best wishes for quick healing!

Not sure where you live, but at least it's April and not June/July that you are missing!

 

As for the couch, I vote spend a lot more time on Mygolfspy :)

oh man, that's a bummer.  some good golf tournaments coming up though.  maybe use one of those spring things you squeeze with your hand so that when you're ready to go you'll have a nice firm grip?

First and most importantly I'm praying that your procedure goes well.  I know several people who have had this done and with very good results.  I hope it's the same for you.

 

 

Second I would ask the doctor to clearly define - "No Golf"  Is it no golf activities what so ever, easing back into golf activities - you get the idea. 

 

Perhaps this could be a great time to work on the short game - putting as other's have suggested and then chipping and pitching as you work your way back.

I have sinus surgery scheduled for April 13. But doc says I can play golf 7 days later. He promises no swelling, no bruising, and no bleeding. It's some new outpatient method. Gonna straighten the septum, trim turbinates and clean out sinus cavities. All without general anesthesia, and I can go home an hour later.

 

My friend scheduled his surgery for the 21st with the same doc.

 

We'll see...

Glad all went well and your recovery time is much shorter than expected!   Back when I had this done, they stuffed cotton up my nose.  I had to breath out of my mouth and I had my tonsils out at the same time because they were infected which was a BIG mistake.  My throat was swollen and my nose stopped up and I was having panic attacks because I had a hard time breathing.  I bet surgery for you was a heap better huh?

Good news! I'm three weeks removed from heart surgery and it's pretty amazing how well I've recovered. I had some hiccups with the boys last Sunday but no heart hiccups and I hit a drive or two out there with Matt and Barbajo (well within 15 yards of Barbajo) :)

 

Prayers for a speedy recovery and for High Fade's sinus thing.

Oh man day 3 has been the worst so far. I am just so so tired. I have to do those nasal rinse things three times a day and blah it sucks. Just really nasty stuff, on a plus side two guys came and picked up some clubs I had for sale. Here's to Fowler playing golf tomorrow and catching up in the Shell Open.

I had the same thing two years ago and was down for a week & half. Really painful no doubt, but I think they oversold your recovery time. Hopefully you heal quick.

Okay update. I got my first full night sleep last night and no more blood or what na coming out of the nose via rinses. My nose is still 1/3 times bigger than normal but so far so good. I have my first check up appointment tomorrow and the first thing I'm asking is "when can I play golf."

Update time. For the first time in a long time, I know what oxygen feels like. When I take a breath, it's such a foreign feeling to feel air hit the back of your throat. My nose is still a little swollen and I'm doing the rinses 3 times a day but I'm feeling way better. So yeah definitely the first couple of days are no fun, but after that it's all downhill. I went to the range once last week and I just took it easy and it was okay. I kinda got lightheaded looking down for so long. My two week check up is on Thursday and after that I'm supposed to be cleared to do anything.

 

On a side note, golf will be postponed even more because my wife is getting induced with our second tomorrow. A new golfer will enter the world. We can't come up with a name yet and I told her we should just name him after the guy who wins the Masters.
