revkev
Okay my health insurance company offered an incentive program that includes a bunch of free fitness tools including an online support group and fitness coach for the group. The object is to loose 18 lbs in 16 weeks and then either loose or keep it off for the next 48 weeks. I get $100 premium rebate for every 16 week period that I hit my goal as does my church. I started Sunday. Of course I had one of our kids deliver my Girl Scout cookie order to me at church. I handed them off to the family and haven't looked back. It may cause me to be on here a tad less during this first 16 week period BTW. Weighed in at 209 Sunday morning - easily the heaviest I have ever been in my life. Their goal for me is 191, mine is 185. I was there ten years ago and felt great. fozcycle
Count me in Matt, like you for the long haul. Currently at 210, want to be 180. I am enrolled in a 16 week course thru the VA called Move. My first meeting is on Jan 4th. No fancy drugs, just managing what you eat and exercising more. The latter is difficult because of my ankle but I am gonna give it a go. I also am using the Fitness Pal App, logging everything. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Checking in......yesterday I was at 203 after 4 official weeks in the MOVE program at the VA. Feel good, finally getting to where I'm drinking a ton of water. The past week has me at 10 16 oz glasses. On Tues & Sat after golf I have cut the beer from many to only 2 and this past Sat it was none. If I know I'm gonna down a couple, I cut way back on the food carbs. MGoBlue100
Haven't chimed in on this thread at all, but... I'd been trying to drop some pounds before I broke my heel, b/c I'm a fat @&&. I'd probably lost 7 or so, and then literally "bam"! No weight bearing for 8-12 weeks, which means cardio is a no go. So, using the MyFitnessPal app, I just adjusted my goals and my attitude. I think I've only had 5-6 drinks in the 6 weeks since I got hurt, (doc said booze is bad for healing bones...) and I'm limiting myself to 1560 cals a day. A lot of days I've been under 1200. Hard to do. I can't be 100% certain, b/c I can only put about 50% weight on my right foot on the scale, but I've lost in the neighborhood of an additional 14 pounds in these six weeks. Like anything else, it can be done, if you want to do it. MattF, tony@CIC, Rickp and 3 others 6 Quote "Where'd it go?" "Right in the Lumberyard..." revkev
Just remember there are peaks and valleys with the weight lost and it's about a lifestyle change and not the weight loss target. Great advice - exactly what my fitness coach told me as well but it's nice to have her advice reinforced. I'm sure it's especially the case when weighing yourself every day. I like the accountability that brings. She's going to put together a golf specific workout for me using the equipment that I have already in my home already. The inches are as important as the weight and I'm wearing a pair of shorts that I could only dream of a week ago. Man had I let myself go.
