robertson153
Next time I wear my Puma hat and shirt I’ll snap a pic. I haven’t been on here much lately, 10 or so weeks of this challenge will do that to ya. I’ve been struggling lately with my driver, no big secret there, so today I had an impromptu lesson with just my driver. Turns out I was starting my hips to soon and causing me to leave the face open. 2 minutes later, launching them right down the middle. Funny how someone can look at 3-4 swings and tell you one little thing to do that improves everything. Now, can I transfer what I learned tonight to the tee box, we’ll just have to see. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpySo, no I didn’t learn a dang thing. Hit 3-4 good drives to start, then it’s like I forgot everything I learned the other night. Looks like more range time/lessons for the near future. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Quote CobraConnectChallenge3
palvord
MyGolfSpy is all about honesty and no BS. It's time for me to come clean. As of now, I have replaced the Cobra F9 driver in my bag with the Callaway Rogue. A little over a year ago, TrueGolfFit launched and I went through the online fitting and was recommended the Callaway Rogue. At the time, the Rogue was way out of my price range, but performed well for me on a launch monitor at a Golf Galaxy. In the early spring, I was at a golf show, and found the Rogue at a great price. SWMBO gave her blessing, and I walked out with my new toy. I had to wait for the snow to melt and the rain to go away before I could start playing with it on the course. My few rounds with the Rogue were during the baseline rounds for the challenge. Since the challenge has ended, I have been able to put the Rogue head to head against the F9, and I just cannot keep the Rogue out of the bag. (Yes it is labeled 3w, as I haven't added an Arccos tag to the club yet, but here are the first 3 drives with the Rogue with no practice with it since May.) All of these drives hit the target area I wanted, and were way beyond what I was getting with the F9. Here is the last drive I hit with the F9: I don't know if I had a poor fitting with the F9, or if the Rogue is just better for my swing. Kudos to TrueGolfFit for the accuracy of their data matching me up to the Rogue. robertson153
Well, for the time being I’ve sidelined my driver. I can put my 3 wood down the middle with 20-25 yards difference. I’ll gladly take the loss in yards if that means playing from the fairway. The season is winding down in my area, maybe a month to a month and a half left. I’ll come out next spring with a vengeance to get my driver playable. I honestly think it’s in my head. I’ll continue to work with it on the range, maybe I’ll get it going before the first frost. I’ll keep you all updated on the progress. If all else fails, I do have a Callaway Epic Flash in the garage . Maybe the three of us can work on a compare/contrast thread between the two? I also reached out to Arccos to ask for their recommendation on how to attach the putter sensor with the counterbalanced shaft. They suggested cutting the threads off and using electrical tape to attach to the grip. I did not cut off all the threads - I left about 1/3 so the sensor would have some "bite" in the grip and then wrapped with tape. It worked out pretty well. That looks like a pretty sweet prize pack. Too bad you play lefty or I would have made an offer on your Ping driver. Seems like I've had a lot of penalties off the tee recently and the Arccos data backs that up. Driving handicap is by far the worst aspect of my game. My first step in trying to right the ship is to try a different shaft in the F9 driver. When I was swinging all out on the launch monitor the Atmos 7X shaft was a great fit. On the course when I swing a little more controlled it seems too wild. I have an order placed for a Project X EvenFlow Blue stiff flex shaft that should come in later this week. If that doesn't work I may have to go back to the old reliable Epic Sub Zero. Here are the stats for my Epic Sub Zero at the beginning of the year. It was shorter, but definitely more accurate. And here is the F9. Smart distance up 13 yards but accuracy down 15.7%. robertson153
I’m still grinding with the speedbacks. It has finally happened, my trending handicap is 9.3!! I’ve waited so long to be a single digit. My driver is still hit and miss, if it wasn’t for that, I could see me in the low 8s for sure. I feel like I’m in the same boat as Bucky, on the LM I was swinging 90-95%, on the course I’m trying to be more conservative and only swing 80% or so. Might need to go from a 6.5 to a 6.0, I’ll keep tinkering and we’ll see what happens. bardle
Took almost a full month off from Golf due to a little bit of burnout but mostly because my child is at an age where I just love spending time with her and I hate to miss anything. But... My in-laws are in due to the hurricane so I went off and played 9 yesterday afternoon and had a great time. Ended up shooting a 47 with 3, 3 putts. So apart from putting ability, it looks like I didn't lose anything due to the time off. I felt great and am getting the driver back under control. It turns out that wrist hinge was causing some massive slices and inaccuracies with my driver, I can't recall if that was the issue during the challenge but the time off helped me pick up some things I may not have been noticing at the time. Nunfa0
Following the trend, here are my current stats for the Cobras The hybrid should actually be an average of around 210 yards but it's still suffering from being used for every shot from 200 down for a week during the challenge. I also have my driver comparisons for you. First the Ping G400 LST ( remember I'm a lefty so left side is a fade or cut) This club is long but I missed left way too much. Now the Cobra F9 It too is long and I can hit a draw with it . How long? I hit a 293 yard drive in winter!! The 313 with the Ping was a very rare draw and on a beautiful, warm fall day. Bucky CC
Hit 40 years old today. For my birthday I played 27 holes and took a Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero demo driver out on the course. It may be the Crown Royal talking but I think I fell in love today. The Cobra F9 is great but this seemed like it was on a different level. Couple of drives over 300 and no crappy slices towards trouble. I lost one ball but that was because I expected my usual fade only to see a power draw off the tee. sirchunksalot, THEZIPR23, STUDque and 5 others 8 Quote Driver: Stealth 2 10.5°, Kai'li Red X Fairway Wood: Rogue ST LS 16.5°, Mitsubishi TENSEI AV White 75 X 3 Hybrid: F9, LA Golf Tour AXS Red 85 X 4 Iron: Ping G410 Crossover 5-PW: JPX 919 Forged, KBS Tour Stiff Wedges: Jet Black 50°08F, 54°12D, 58°08M, True Temper Dynamic Gold Black S200 Putter: StrokeLab White Hot OG #7, Evnroll Tourtac grip

robertson153
Still hacking away with F9s. Shot a 77 today with 2 doubles, par 72. Had 3 birdies, in a row, which I’ve never done before. Trending handicap is 8.6 now!!! Still struggling with the driver, but the 3 wood is amazing off the tee. I’m loving the Cobras, but I’m giving a lot of credit to being fit for my clubs. JohnSmalls
Credit to @sirchunksalot, I haven’t been out on the course as much as hoped and the D7 review has me hitting a lot of irons when I do get out so here is how arccos and F9 are going: Arccos has been pretty cool. It is taking a lot of getting used to having a phone in my pocket, using a different watch, and figuring out on course how to go to the next hole on watch and phone—but I still haven’t gotten the pin placement down yet and that has been frustrating. Although I’ve been using it primarily for data gathering for D7 irons, so no course posts yet. That’s coming tomorrow . As far as the F9 goes—at first not great. I got the tour spec for the shorter length in a 9* head and the heavy weight set forward. I was hitting low fades for days on the range. Got the wrench out before taking it on the course for the first time, set it to 10.5 draw and the first tee box I hit a 280 yard bomb (one par 3 removed from all day behind a desk) off the toe and was a knock down wedge into the green. Honeymoon period still very much alive but so far it is looking like it has a very real shot of taking the G400 out which I just changed the shaft in it and have fallen in love all over again. Oh the decisions. It’s going to be a battle. sirchunksalot
Credit to sirchunksalot, I haven’t been out on the course as much as hoped and the D7 review has me hitting a lot of irons when I do get out so here is how arccos and F9 are going: Arccos has been pretty cool. Stay tuned. I appreciate the feedback! It sounds like the F9 is starting to perform for you and that's awesome! The G400 line is just phenomenal, and I know it'll take a lot to get it out of the bag. I'm also happy to hear Arccos is doing good for you. I find my biggest issues with it on the green. I honestly think my sensor is dead and need to email Arccos and see if I can replace the battery, it doesn't seem to change out like the regular sensors. I hope you were able to get some rounds in this weekend, and you had fun doing it. null
I ditched Arccos today. Tired of it missing shots or adding phantom shots and I found myself getting frustrated with the app during the rounds to the point where it became distracting. Will be nice to not have my phone almost die during every round, too KurtActual, MattF, JohnSmalls and 2 others
robertson153
As promised I will keep this alive. It kills me to say, the F9 driver is out of the bag. I’ve replaced it with a M3, more to come on that. The rest of the Cobra lineup is still in the bag, along with the bag. I don’t foresee anything else leaving anytime soon. As I’ve stated before, the driver and I just drifted apart, don’t know why. If I had to guess I just lost confidence in it, without confidence no club sticks around. Maybe after a little separation I’ll give it another shot. I am using the Callaway Rogue exclusively and the F9 doesn't come out to play anymore. The rest of the lineup is secure in my bag and I don't foresee any changes to that. I'm really enjoying my rounds on the course and the extra confidence that this set gives me. I was on a golf trip this past weekend and there were multiple times where I would look at the intended landing spot and just know that I had that shot. The clubs give me an extra boost of confidence in situations that would have scared me before.
