Bucky CC
Is anyone planning to take the plunge with the new Stack System speed training program? It seems very similar to SuperSpeed but with a beefed up App that can change the program to a user's specific speeds and goals. Here is their website: https://www.thestacksystem.com/ I'm always looking for ways to get better and increase my distance so this is definitely interesting. The co-founders behind the program (Sasho MacKenzie and Marty Jertson) are both highly respected in the golf world and having a program update and change based on your own personal results seems it could really maximize gains. The two things that worry me the most about this are #1 the cost. It's $349 for the hardware and if you don't pre-order before March 1st you only get two years access to the App before you would have to pay another fee after that period. Not sure of the exact cost but I seem to remember @edingcasking that same question on Twitter and getting an answer. The second issue I see is how much benefit can a person really get if they are already using the SuperSpeed sticks? I first started using SS during the first forum test and I am on about my 3rd time through training protocols (currently doing the Fit for Golf SuperSpeed program). Even SuperSpeed had a very large initial bump in speed before things leveled off and is now mainly about maintaining any previous gains. Hopefully we can get a Forum test going on this new program sometime in 2021 to answer these questions and more. mr.hicksta, MaxEntropy, edingc and 2 others 5 Quote Driver: RADSPEED 10.5°, Project X Even Flow RIPTIDE 60 6.5 Fairway Wood: Rogue ST LS 16.5°, Mitsubishi TENSEI AV White 75 X 3 Hybrid: F9, LA Golf Tour AXS Red 85 X 4 Iron: Ping G410 Crossover 5-PW: JPX 919 Forged, KBS Tour Stiff Wedges: Jet Black 50°08F, 54°12D, 58°08M, True Temper Dynamic Gold Black S200 Putter: StrokeLab White Hot OG #7, 35", Evnroll Tourtac grip Putter2: Array F-2 Currently testing the Edel Array putter

I didn't get a cost, unfortunately, but I'm bummed that it will be a subscription app. I'd have to see a lot of continued progress for that to be worth it. I almost bought the other day but then realized it is currently iOS only with no definite timeline for Android support. So I'm out of luck as it stands, anyway. I was planning to eventually get an iPad to use with a Skytrak (hopefully) but so far that's not in the cards. I think a subscription app makes a lot of sense for them (seems to be working for Arccos) but not when you combine it with an initial fee of $350. I'm OK paying a larger initial fee or a monthly/annual subscription but not both. I wouldn't be surprised if they had to lower the hardware cost to be at SuperSpeed's $200 level in the future. GolfSpy MPR
I'm intrigued. Sasho MacKenzie and Marty Jertsen bring a ton of credibility to this project. But I can't imagine being $350 of intrigued. I was thinking about this this morning, though, and it seems to me that they missed a feature that could have been awesome. Given that there's a single stick here, it seems like it would have been a good idea to build in the kind of accelerometer features you get in a SwingByte/Zepp/etc., so that the stick itself can give you a speed reading. You'd obviously still have the option of using a radar if you want to, but to have the stick pair by Bluetooth to your phone, so that you do the swings and the speeds are entered automatically: that would be sweet. Theoretically, it would also be able to give you some info about how you're losing speed. That kind of thing is less reasonable with SuperSpeed, because it has three sticks. But with one stick, and at that price point, I think it's a missed opportunity. BMart519
I ordered it to get lifetime access to the app and will start a post in a couple months when it arrives. I'm confident there will be continued additions and refinements to the app based on Sasho's research. In my opinion, this system drives SuperSpeed to build an app to keep up if it becomes poplar. It completes all the data tracking for you hands free, paces your reps/rests, and tailors the weights/programs to you. There's a minimum of 42 weeks of programming in the system if you complete each program 1X. I've read studies that found the lightest Superspeed stick is of minimal benefit for some people because your sequencing is impacted due to the green stick being too light. All of these aspects are going to be tailored to the person based on their speed and strength levels in the Stack app. The data collection also measures your fatigue levels throughout the workout which is an important aspect to work at maximum output and speed. This type of customization is likely to get you greater gains than SS, or similar gains in a much shorter period of time. If people start seeing results with this system at lower rep numbers than SS and without opposite side swings, it is going to call into question the SS protocols. This system set me back $470 in Canadian dollars, which I felt was reasonable for better hardware and software compared to a bunch of Youtube videos and some sticks at half the cost, that I ended up building myself for $50. The lifetime license can be used for 5 people on 1 account, so you could give someone your account password if you wanted to sell it afterwards and advertise they never need to pay the annual fee. edingc, JohnSmalls, MaxEntropy and 3 others 6 Quote G425 MAX Driver & 5W Baffler Rail-H 3H-4H 699 Pro Utility V2 - 4i APEX CF19 6-AW INDI Wedges 52, 56, 60 EAS 2.
MaxEntropy
I also really like the idea of the app that tailors the workout to your progress, but I hate subscription-based fees, especially with the larger entry fee, and I'm an Android guy. yungkory
@mr.hicksta told me about this yesterday. I love the single stick system but I'm not sold on the app. Which is weird because I work in IT and I want an app for everything else, but for some reason I have no desire to be fussing with apps while doing any type of exercise. It's not even a cost thing for me, I'm weird. Good in the beginning while I'm learning the moves and stuff, but after that I just wanna get the reps in. Hopefully for everyone that buys in, they continually add value to the app. That was one of the issues I had with Arccos' subscription. Great app, but I don't think there was a single update for the year that I used it outside of like some super minor bug fixes that didn't ever affect me. That's awesome you took the plunge. I hope everything lives up to the hype because the program seems to have a lot of potential. I'm leaning more towards the wait and see model once they start shipping these to see some non-affiliated reviews. mr.hicksta
When I saw Mike (Fit For Golf) was working with it, I decided to give it a go. I'm all about having one training device, and the app looks like it's well designed. Plus, the lifetime access is a nice bonus for preorders. Seeing how I had SuperSpeed Golf four times (I know, I'm weird), I feel like this will be easier to keep up with. I'll definitely be sharing my experiences with the MGS fam! I'm 100 percent in agreement here. I was ready to pull the trigger until I saw the no Android support. Sasho is great, I love watching some of his stuff on YouTube from various channels he's been on. And I like the idea of a shorter, single club that could go in my bag for a quick warm up. Hopefully they add Android support soon, and maybe run a perpetual subscription deal for Black Friday, or at least a discounted rate for a few years.
