panhndl
SGI Utility iron even a thing? I can’t hit my 3/5/7 woods but do ok with my irons. I was thinking I might get a utility iron 20-22* area since my 5i is 25*. Anyway, I would prefer the easiest to hit over any other aspect. I’m a lefty so some options aren’t there for me and it makes it very hard to test clubs. My driver speed is about 95 mph or so. Thanks 3 Quote Driver: Ping G425 Max 10.5 Fujikara Speeder NX 50r #3, #5, #7 fairway woods 1 Iron Golf 5-LW irons 1 Iron Golf Scotty Cameron Del Mar Lefties Rule! Thanks I don’t know of any SGI specific utility irons, but you could just try an SGI long iron; they typically are lower lofted and might fit the distance gaps you are looking to fill. 3 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: mFGP2 Backups: TM-180, Milled Collection RSX 2, Bellum Winmore 787, Directed Force 2.1 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
GolfSpy_APH
Taylormade has a few. The main one I am thinking of it is the Gapr. They had 3 versions the low, mid and high. All different shapes and varying flights. Good clubs overall. Cobra and Srixon have them as well, and not to be forgotten the Ping Crossover (I have 2 of these) all of which can be found in lefty. Hopefully that gives you a bit of a starting point! 3 Quote as of Oct 31, 2022 (Past WITB) Driver: TBD: Follow here: Driver Shootout! Wood: King SZ 3 wood 15.5* G410 Crossover - 4 iron or others.... None of these are hybrids. richk9holes
I'm about to take a 5i from TM burner plus irons to the range. I'll report back my findings. 20+ mph wind today should be a good chance to see how it penetrates vs. My 6i. It's a little older than what you're probably looking at, but the style might be close. Added: also, see if you can find a ping g700 or g710 in an individual iron at the loft you're seeking. I've hit my dad's before and think they are so buttery for the category. Update: hit 15 or so with the Burner plus 5i. Unfortunately it was going right on par with my Apex '19 6i that is shorter length and 1.5° weaker. Even pure strikes were short of where I can reach a solid 6i strike. The uniflex shaft is partly to blame and a slower swinger might have better distance results. To the guest bag with it. I looked at the gapr club in the hi looked pretty much like a hybrid and that sort of reminded me to mention that hybrids just haven’t worked that well for me. The DHY looks interesting, too. 1 Quote Driver: Ping G425 Max 10.5 Fujikara Speeder NX 50r #3, #5, #7 fairway woods 1 Iron Golf 5-LW irons 1 Iron Golf Scotty Cameron Del Mar Lefties Rule! richk9holes
I was checking out now and see they sold. Sorry bout that. When Sub 70 first hit this site a couple years ago, I remember commenting that they don’t have clubs available in LH, and they replied back stating as soon as sales were up they’d introduce it. They’ve been true to their word, and then some. But yeah, the used market is has been limited it seems. richk9holes
Had this thread in my mind, searching the sub70 site I noticed pre-owned sets of 699 irons in LH, a couple of them. From what I hear they're responsive to customers, might be worth reaching out and seeing if they'll sell you the 5i from one of the sets @panhndl Edited March 18 by richk9holes Added photos Quote Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. richk9holes
Or I know you said the irons are OK, but at that price maybe try out a new set for kicks. They have a trade program I think it would give me $215 for my Callaway '19 Apex 6-AW, to give you an idea of trade values. Quote Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. panhndl
I contacted Sub 70 about demoing one of their utility irons. They don’t have a lefty one for demo but reminded me they had very customer focused “buy and try and return if you don’t like it” policy. 60 days to try and return if you don’t like it. At $130, it’s still one of the more affordable clubs on the market. 2 Quote Driver: Ping G425 Max 10.5 Fujikara Speeder NX 50r #3, #5, #7 fairway woods 1 Iron Golf 5-LW irons 1 Iron Golf Scotty Cameron Del Mar Lefties Rule!
