Tbh I haven’t followed too close. Went off handicap and ability to have a set closest to their pre test gamers. This will then likely blow up from over analysis.

Maybe it will, maybe it won't?...... Time will tell 😉

sorry I said that wrong, what I meant to say, we can still use wedges, is that correct?

No wedges. This is just your 4-PW Takomos and a putter.  I figured we better keep the putter in there as I tried did just the irons a few years ago and putting with a 4-Iron was a disaster lol

Just to clarify for everyone making a guess. The score is the stroke difference between what they would normally score with all clubs vs just the Takomos.  Example being if I normally shoot 74 with all my clubs and I shoot a 90 with just the Takomos my score is 16 not 18.

I just realized of all the times Texas is getting a lot of rain so the courses will be soft is when I can only use 4 iron off the tee, Haha. Now think of the course that has the hardest fairways 🤔

To follow up on @GolfSpy_BNG, if you can get the hight/spin to spot the ball with the Takomo 101t’s. This is a 4 iron shot sitting in its own divot. IMG_1788.jpeg.77e58b375385cfe519955eb0880c5619.jpeg

Oh and this is on a 510 yard par 5 that was a little down hill and down wind. Hit the green in two with two 4 irons. Now for how the rest of the round went. You will have to wait and see!

I can agree with Zack on the 4 iron. That thing is really versatile, even in the 301CB. I've actually never had an easier time hitting a 4 iron. Best part, I found out I can hit a 4 iron 265yds.... 😎 That helped a ton in an iron only round

wow, looks like the Takomo team are really playing some great golf, the distances @TylorJudd and @ZackS are getting with their Takomo 4 irons are so long, I am not finding those distances with the Takomo 301 MB's however I am finding accuracy. My carry distance is 180 with my 4 and runs out to 190 yds, which fits perfectly in my 10 yard gap in my irons.

I have taken 3 days off since being away on my tournament loop however looking forward to gaming my Takomo's starting tomorrow. Need to keep up with "team Takomo"....

I am getting some great long iron shots with my Takomo 101Ts.  The sound and trajectories on pure strikes is very nice.

Here is a 6 iron slightly downwind to a relatively narrow green that was rock hard.

Sadly, I didn’t sink the 12 foot putt from the back fringe.

Hey everyone, I was able to game my Takomo's today, 1st time in a few weeks as I was gaming my Miura's in my past 3 tournaments. It always takes me a while to get confident in any new equipment but by golly today was a real stepping stone.

Right off the bat my second shot on 1 called for a "tween" shot 110 yds to the hole, that is a "hands at 9 o'clock shot for me with my PW" Grab my Takomo PW commit to the shot and hit it to 10 feet pin high left...

3rd shot on number 3 par 5, into a heavy breeze from the west, it usually blows from the west on my course, anyway, I flared my second shot into the rough, downhill 145 yards to the hole, pull out 1 club extra, 6 iron, stay with the shot, hit it right in the middle of the club, flight it down and run it up to about 15 feet short of the pin. These are not easy shots at the best of times.

Number 4 par 3, 145 to the flag into the fan again, my partner hits it 10 feet past the hole with a downhill putt, I decide to hit my 145 carry club, 7 iron, and hit it hard as there is at least a one club wind, hit ii in the middle of the club off a tee and land it 5 yds short of the pin, great shot.

anyway my day went on like that pretty much the whole day, the shot of the day was on number 15, pushed my drive into the crap, again downhill sidehill shot, 168 to the flag with the wind this time however the shot called for a low punch shot to the front of the green and run back to the hole, I pulled 5 iron, punched it perfectly pin high, big smile on my face.

really good day with the irons looking forward to tomorrow...

Played at a very nice private club last week as an invite while on a business trip out East.  The assistant head pro at the bag drop asked if I wanted to hit on their simulators before heading out on the course since it was raining.

As he is kindly carrying my clubs, he looked at my Takomos and says they look great, but couldn’t recognize the logo.

We started talking and I said to him they feel similar to a TM 790 but why don’t you hit them and see.  So he grabbed a 7 iron and pured a few and said the feel was really good.  Asked if they were hollow body since he said the sound seemed pretty solid like forged vs hollow body.  Borrowed another members Mizuno iron and compares the head sizes and says the feel is similar and liked the lighter KBS Tour lite on my Takomos.  Said he thought it was a good match for the heavier Takomo head weight.

He then sounds amazed by the company being from Finland and then the price.  Couldn’t believe that he had never heard of them before.

I shot a steady 83 in a drizzling rain on a very tough course, so the Takomos worked great on a very wet day.

i am getting similar feedback, especially the part about the feel, I am intrigued, are the head weights heavier, I will have to look at that. Are you a member at any course in Calgary, I just had a great conversation with a golfer at the Kelowna Seniors about golf in Calgary.

Just over halfway through the contest week.

In order to try to gain some traction I’ll set the bar nice and low. Lol Insnuck out of work a little early to get my round in.

My irons only round was a blah of a 45/46 for a 91.  I have typically been in the 74-78 range this year in this course so that’s a +17 score. It could have been better but I couldn’t keep the 4-iron on the planet off the tee but as it turns out it is great for the bump and run when the wedge is missing! Lol

Can’t seem to drive off the tee with my driver, but my 3W or Hybrid are taking the slack. My 4 iron might actually lower my differential.  Will be out tomorrow on a long 9 to try the all iron challenge warm up.

Can’t seem to drive off the tee with my driver, but my 3W or Hybrid are taking the slack. My 4 iron might actually lower my differential.  Will be out tomorrow on a long 9 to try the all iron challenge warm up.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience tomorrow

I played in a charity scramble yesterday which are always good fun. I was bombing the driver all day so not too many iron shots. But on the shots I did I continue to be impressed. My ball striking has been inconsistent as of late and the 101t’s forgiveness has been helpful. I am very happy with the forgiveness level in the smaller size on the Ts. I have also been impressed with the turf interaction. Nothing will help much when you hit it fat but that has the most frustrating ball striking miss for me lately and I feel I am pushed a little less on those shots with the Takomo’s compared to my irons. I plan to try and get one more irons only round in to see if I can improve on my first try and take home a win!

All 101T iron day for 9 holes. Par 36 / 3280 yards

So played 4 iron off the tee all day on Par 4 and 5s.  The fairway bunkers were harmless for me today since I was no where close to any of them off the tee.
My 4 iron got lots of use. Used it for deep rough green side chips too so used it 14 times according to Arccos.

The stock 4 iron flies higher than my usual Haywood 4. I rarely use a 4 iron. In my bag, I usually replace a 4 iron with a 3 hybrid. So I found the trajectory and distance control a little challenging in a decent wind day like today. Longest drive was 229 and the shortest 168. The forgiveness on the 101T 4 iron was excellent.  Loved the sound and feel of the 4 iron.

The most interesting part of my round was pitching with a PW (46 deg) vs a typical 56 or 60 wedge.  It actually wasn’t too bad. The only bunker I played was tough with a downhill lie / short sided but I did get it out. But it felt risky and weird. Opening up a small PW head with very little bounce is a little scary. 😂

Par 5s were amusing playing with a 4 iron for 3 shots in a row.

Overall it was fun round. Since I didn’t hit it too far… Didn’t come close to losing a ball either. 🤣

I can’t wait for 18.

So I was not able to try a 2nd irons only round this weekend after tweeting my back at the gym. So will I will have to go with the round where my putter betrayed me. I will start by saying the irons performed well, but unfortunately can't fix a bad swing 😂. I think I got my self in a mindset of swinging to hard off the tee which caused some erratic shots but I was being able to get the iron out there 230 to 250 yards. Having to use the 46 degree PW around the greens was a challenge especially since I short sided myself a few times but I was impressed with the spin I was able to create with it. The course is a was a 6700 yard par 72. So I start out the round with 4 iron and 9 iron to here.

IMG_1787.jpeg.d015e62d30dbd739eed33196d6a376f8.jpeg

Didn't make the putt but walking off feeling good. Then on the next hole I have a 4 1/2 ft par putt do a full u-turn lip out. This was followed up with 5 straight bogies a par and double on 9. Had some good and bad shots. As well as a putter that didn't want to behave, could not figure out the speed. That all added up to a 44. Hole 10, a 510 yard par 5 with an about a 10 mph tail wind was the highlight of the day. Hit the green with two 4 iron's and was able to make birdie. As you can see from the picture below with the ball sitting in its' own divot. I don't have issues getting the ball to stop with the 101t's.

The rest of the back nine was still a bit of a mixed bag. Including a double were I just straight pull it on a par 3 into the water. That combined with 5 bogies makes a 42 for a total score of 86. Since getting back into playing more consistently I going to basely expected score with all clubs on the average of my more recent rounds which is 79 so my score for the competition of +7.

Oh, you will have a "blow by blow, swear by swear" report tomorrow, I just arrived home from camping, have my Takomo's all shined up ready for an "irons only" (reminds me of swim club in the 70"s "arms only, legs only") competition tomorrow at 915... I have my beautiful bride there to record all the excitement or anticlimactic results... I have been through each hole in my mind and there are really only 4 holes, 8, 14,15, and possibly 3 that I shouldn't be able to hit in regulation, depending on how solid I am hitting my 4 iron, the interesting part will be adjusting to the no 56 degree and 50 degree wedges....

Hello everyone... here are some pictures from today, I am late for dinner so will post some more, lots of good shots and a very good score, interesting playing all the approach shots from the fairway, will post more tonight....

I'm back lol,

I tried to download a couple of more photos but I would like to talk a bit more about my round today.

as you can probably see, from the white tees Olympic view is basically not a really long course, a lot of "target" golf but as I have played it more and more I get a bit more aggressive off the tee which gives me a lot more wedges into greens, of course this is different with irons only.

For example, number 1 is usually a 185-190 yd drive and a wedge to the green, today it was a knock down 8 iron but I did hit the green, number 2 is a driver off the tee and a bump wedge, today was a full 9 iron, number 3 was 4 iron, 4 iron and I had 155 to the flag into the wind so hit my 5 iron right on the button and had about a 15 footer for birdied, missed but hit the green none the less, I have a picture of my tee shot on 4, again 150 but off a tee, hit a 6 iron to about a foot, almost got a hole in one, kick in birdie. etc, etc, the ones I thought I would have trouble hitting in regulation actually did happen for example 8 is a longer par 4, 4 iron, 4 iron (landed in a divot in front of the green) punched it out but there was a bit of a hill behind the pin and it rolled back to 9 feet and I made the putt for par.

My putter was really good today, the greens are not cut too short because the superintendent doesnt want to burn them out, i got the feel early and it lasted the whole day.

I am very happy with my score but happier with the Takomo irons, I did not mis hit a 4 iron off any tee shot, on a couple of greens it was tough because I only had PW to hit 60-70-90 yds but made some and missed some, but all good, I am heading to Kelowna again to play the Ogopogo and will take a lot of good vibes from today's round...
