Erin B
Hmmmm best club I’ve ever owned…. Now that’s a tough one. I think my irons I have right now have been the best set of irons I’ve ever owned and the best singular iron is probably my 6 with the 8 very close behind. Wedges I used to think were my old PXGs but my current titleist wedges SM10s are fantastic, especially my 52. I think the best driver I’ve ever had was a Ping 410 LST. Best putter has to be my current one, SeeMore. If I had to choose I’d go with a set and they’d be the New Level 902PDs. If it’s just one, the Ping 410 LST. Indy_Oz
I regret ever selling my first set of clubs (would have been late 80s when I started playing). I didn't know I had a set of classics at the time. Hand me down 1970s Wilson Staff blade irons and Staff II persimmon woods. I felt I could hardly miss with the driver and I had my only albatross (I can't bring myself to call it a double-eagle, lol) with the Wilson driver and 5-wood on a par 5. Sure, distance was low, but I loved them. I was convinced 'upgrading' to a set of metal woods and game improvement perimeter weighted Prosimmon irons would bring my game on. I was strapped for cash and traded in the Wilson set. If only I'd known what I know now. My best for overall performance (distance and accuracy) would have to be my TSR2 7-wood. I absolutely love that club and have confidence whenever I reach for it. Since returning to the game that has, hands-down, been my best purchase. EasyPutter
My Tommy Armour #3 19 degree fairway hybrid - a go to club for distance when the grass is not up to the ball's center height and still the club that outdistances my driver off the tee (still looking to improve driver swing to change that). It was a gift club at the graduation of my first PGA HOPE session donated by the benevolent organization Bunkers for Baghdad here in WNY that went for 2 years with the plastic still on the head in my spares bag in the garage because the O'Donnell Triumph Maraging hybrids (10, 15, 19, 27) were still my go-to fairway clubs I knew the distances I could hit with them, until something mental went wrong and I could not hit them well. Out came Tommy Armour "just to see what it can do" and now on it's 4th year still pokes the ball regularly between 160-185 yards and fairly straight too. Byrnzee
Last year I hated my 3-wood. It was a Titleist 915F 15º with an extra stiff shaft in it. I bought it secondhand on Facebook marketplace and I thought I was just incapable of hitting it. It was my least favorite club in my bag by a mile and I dreaded using it every round. I got a new 3-wood this year, TSR2 15º with stiff Ventus Red Velocore shaft in it. It has quickly become one of my favorite clubs in my bag. It feels so good off the clubface and I feel very confident when I pull it out of the bag on a par 5 or off the tee on a short par 4. Golfjopa
It's not currently in my bag, but I bought it brand new in 2005 or 2006 - a PING Doc 17 putter. I got it on a Friday at work, and had zero chance to try it out because I had a 6:30 tee time the next morning. I didn't even try it out in the store because I had given the money for it to a co-worker for him to buy for me because I couldn't find it in the one golf store on my side of the DFW metroplex, whereas he lived close to a Golfsmith (I think it was that) on his side of town and they obviously had one in stock. First time I hit a putt with it was on the first green that Saturday morning, and I made a 50-footer for par! A few weeks later, I made a 20 foot putt for eagle (the only eagle putt I've ever made, although I have more than a few eagle chip-ins). (I'm editing this because I just remembered I did make a second eagle putt a few years later). Man, I just always felt confident with that club in my hand. I gamed it until 2018 or so (best I can remember) when I bought a PING Sigma putter. I also got a lot of comments over the years about putting with a satellite dish with that PING Doc, but I just laughed along and then made putts with it. Michael Milich
Fun question! I still game a Snake Eyes 7-wood from like 2006. It recently made its way back into my bag, but I used it as a practice club for a long time. It gives incredible feedback. Anything off-center is kind of like jamming yourself with a baseball bat. However, the middle feels like you hit air. It's the purest feeling club I've ever hit. Makes that "tuning fork go off in your heart" times 1,000. It's funny to see the 7-wood making a comeback. TheFrugalGolfer
This goes back quite a ways, but I used to love a 2-wood (can't remember the brand). Couldn't hit the driver worth a darn back then, but the 2-wood was great and I got great distance out of it. Makes me wonder if there's something to the mini-driver trend.
