How many hybrids are you playing?

Recommended Posts

How many hybrids are currently in your bag?

I have been looking for a club that I could basically know is going to be around 200 yards, but also have a higher landing angle to help hold greens. I was thinking that a 7W might have been then answer, but just never felt super confident about it, so I decided to look at hybrids instead.

Jump ahead….I just added a Titleist TS2 4H to my arsenal, and it seems to do what I want it to.

I already had a Callaway Rogue 3H in the bag, and my irons drop off a 5I. The new club seems to fit the gap that I wanted, but it seems a bit odd to have two of them.

I have two currently and have had 3 in the past.   LPGA players average over 3 and PGA players average just under 2.

The simple answer is play what works.

Depending on the day I'll have up to 4 woods in the bag. I usually only game the 4hybrid as I can make it do 200 or 150 with different swings. I just added a 5 wood to see if that's easier to get where I need it as I struggle with my 3 hybrid most days.

I should be golfing instead of talking smack on the web.

4h & 5h in the bag now.

If I'm smart, I'll add a 6h or just move to hybrid irons entirely sometime soon.

I recently took my 3 wood out of the bag, and replaced it with a 5 wood.

It’s way easier to hit and still has pretty good distance.

On my sim I'm seeing similar results but I'm not ready to ditch the 3 wood yet but if it keeps getting out there as far as it does on the sim the 3 is in danger.

Currently very old 3H, 4H and 5H then picking up at 6i. No Fairway woods.

But I just ordered brand new 3W, 3H and 5H. (Not that I’ll see them for a while…shafts are back ordered). Based on my current yardages, everything should move up about 10 yards so the gaping should be better (currently my new 6i overlaps my old 5H pretty badly, and the 4H hits too close to the 5H).

I’ve never given a fairway wood an honest shot because my long club swing was pretty bad, but that’s gotten better and when I was fit for woods the 3W actually went pretty well. Hopefully the fitting yardages are pretty accurate, since I made the purchases based on it!

I don't play any.

I tried the original TaylorMade FireSole Rescues,
and then I tried the early Cleveland Halos,
and then I realized that hybrids weren't for me.

I genuinely WISH that I liked hybrids, however.

I like to overlap high loft fairway woods with long irons
in the same bag,
and that, of course, results in too many clubs.

I have a 19⁰ and 21⁰ hybrid in the bag, as I don't fair well above a 6i.  I am considering down the road trying a newer 5w and 7w or even a set of long hybrid irons too.

I have a 22 degree 4H and 24 degree 5H, but I also have a 21 degree 7w but has higher flight than the 4 hybrid and just a touch longer so I keep both in the bag for now depending on the shot needed.

I had 2 up until I bought my new(2020) irons. I bought these specifically  for less lofted 4 iron to cover 190(replace 3H), and put another wedge in at the bottom.  Still have 1: 18 degree (2H) to cover 200 yard shots.  Then 3w & Driver.

I have 1 and 3 fairway woods - works for my gapping and I like having a hybrid because it can double of a chipping club.

Wedges and irons are - 1/2” and one degree flat

Putter: Sacks Parente Duke 32.5”

Ball: Titleist Pro VI or Callaway Chrome Soft X ls

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

I just pulled all the hybrids out of my bag and have a new found love for a my 4i, 7w, 3w gapping currently.

Hitting the gaps seems to be far more important than what is printed on the head. The number on the scorecard is the main one to be concerned with.

I play 1 right now. 19° 4H. I used to play a 2 and a 3 hybrid in replace of 3 and 5 woods because I couldn’t hit them (high school golf days).
