When it comes to PING many things come to mind, quality, engineering, performance and irons are among the first things most people will think of. And with the release earlier this year of the G410 irons, PING has hit on each one of those characteristics. Following the huge success of the G400 irons, PING has hit a home run with the striking black and red colors of this iron, as well as a being a bit more streamlined in all the right places. PING has achieved the rare feat of providing an iron that has a profile appealing to even the most discerning of golfers, but yet still offering the forgiveness and help that higher handicaps look for. We are looking for three forum members to join staff member Golfspy_Stroker in testing, reviewing and keeping a set of these G410's built to their custom specs. Testing will require a nearly two month commitment of putting the irons in play on the course, at the range and providing ongoing commentary in the forum thorough out the process. As an extra bonus to the irons, the selected testers will have the option to choose Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips equipped with Arccos. The clubs will come with a 99 day free trial to arccos. After that the tester would be responsible for paying for the subscription in order to continue it. It will be a great way to add data to your review. PING has opened this testing to all golfers regardless of country of residence. All you have to do to be eligible for the testing is follow the below instructions. In a post in this thread please provide the following information...AND DO NOT QUOTE this post when replying! First Name/State or Country of residence Handicap Current irons in Play The carry distance of the your 7 iron That's it. Good luck to everybody We'll be selecting the testers within the next 10 to 14 days, so check back to see if you've been selected! =========================================================================================== YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE.... Please join me in congratulating these members selected from a very large and diverse applicant pool: @ballplayer002003 @GregB135 @Rickp Official announcement here: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/33112-testers-wanted-3-ping-g410-irons/?do=findComment&comment=571106

My occasional round at Horn Rapids GC in town was moved today to Wine Valley GC in Walla Walla, WA because the guy that sponsors our free golf had a business meeting in Walla Walla. It's 45 minutes from my house. I love Wine Valley, but I swear the guy told me the tee time was 8:30. I got there at 7:40, but our tee time was 8:10!!!!! It wouldn't have been that bad, but during the drive I got a text from AmEX asking if two charges were legit. NO!!! So, while I was try to cart up, I was talking with a rep getting a new credit card. By the time I was done, we had 5 minutes... I rolled 4 putts on the putting green. Did I say that these greens a blisteringly fast and very undulating?? Head to the tee box; took 10 swings with my Skilz Gold Flex, then teed off. This is our game of Wolf. I was 3rd off the tee and I was the Wolf on 3 par 5's and a par 4. Lost one par 5, won 2 par 5's, and pushed on the par 4. It took me nearly the front nine to start playing well. I had four 3-putts on the front nine and one 3-putt on the back. But I had 2 birdies on the back and a 10 footer to snipe the other 3 guys. Once I figured out the green speed, I could see the line a lot better. Shot 46/39 = 85, and beat the other guys who had 86, 87, and 89. I even tipped my hat!! An absolutely beautiful day...

35-39-74 10/14 fir 14/18 gir 33 putts I’ve only played maybe 4 rounds in the past 3 months, and it really showed today on the green. Struck the ball exceptionally well with the irons, but missed a LOT of good birdie chances. I was -1 after 3 when I really should have been -4. Missed a 5 footer for birdie on 1 and 3 and a 10 footer for eagle on 2. Solid day overall though, lots to build on.

... OK, I bought a set of Srixon Z Forged irons because I truly needed a new set of irons. I only had 5 sets of Forged Players Irons. It was clear to me I wasn't going to play the Lynx Forged LX irons anytime soon because I am playing P760's and very happy with them. Although if they misbehave I can always put my P790's back in the bag. But in Phoenix the P790's didn't spin enough to hold hard desert greens at altitude so i played my Cobra Forged Tours. And if I am really, really struggling I can always pull out my 588TT's, maybe the most forgiving Players Irons ever made. ... But looking at the pretty picture, I realized needed probably was not the best description. Since I did not have a set of MB's it is more like I should have a set. Hmmmmm, OK, ok maybe should have is a little strong and probably just say they would be a nice addition. Yea that's it, nice addition. But then again I really don't need a less forgiving iron than the small headed P760's so maybe nice should be replaced with un-needed but a welcome addition to go along with the tooooo many iron sets I already own. Yup, when I read that back to myself it was pretty pathetic sounding. ... After an in-depth 5 second consultation with an expert, I think I finally have it. I bought some Z Forged because the last thing I needed was another set of irons. I would like to thank my wife for helping me come up with the appropriate description for What Have You Bought Lately.

Met up with @cnosil for what turned out to be an efficient 18. 87 (45/42), 21% FIR, 28% GIR and 34 putts. I hit a number of wayward shots and lost a few balls, but had some stretches of steady play. It was super humid, but we had a great time!

73 6/14 fir 10/18 gir 29 putts Was playing along nicely, 2 under through 11 and could’ve been 4 as I left 2 putts hanging on lip. Then I brain farted my way in, 3 over for last 7. Nothing major just lack of focus.

... Golf is a passion of mine. When playing well I am very happy. When playing average I am also happy. But when playing poorly I am not happy at all*. I enjoy playing the the difficult rounds and enjoy scratching out a score when my full swing seems to have abandoned me. So I find it fulfilling and in a very zen way I know it makes me happier when I play well, but playing poorly is never a happy situation. *Edit. I am not happy at all with my game. This has zero to do with my enjoyment of the day, the course or the people I am playing with. I get frustrated for about 2 seconds then it is gone. I rarely, if ever, say or do anything when playing poorly, I am just internally frustrated. Life is too short and there are too many tragic and sad things happening in the world to be unhappy on a golf course because I am playing poorly.

Today was a completely different day, all together now. We had a bunch of T-storms overnight, a little rain and temps in the 60's a tee time and breezy. I had to wear a pullover. I started par, birdie, par, par but then I lost my swing. Ball wasn't carrying as far as usual, and I tried to get a little extra out of every shot; started spraying everywhere. Shot 85. I need to head to the range tomorrow to get my rhythm back.

Nothing like shooting a five under 66 and getting beat 3&2 in the first round of our Ryder Cup. And my score was gross not net. I played well and not sure I missed one shot today. A bit rough when you almost Ave a par 4 (hit it to 3 inches) and get the putt conceded to go three down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok. I posted a lot of stuff today on SM so you can see most of it there. Both Facebook and IG @bucketsandbirds. The day was great. Shotgun start on The River. I hit the ball pretty well for the most part. But playing 6500 yards, about 400 more than Im used to out some pressure on the short game. And these greens. I absolutely love them. The fastest I have played on in many years and quite possibly ever---and I have played Pinehurst No.2 Plus the undulation was crazy on just about every one. Missed putts routinely ran 3 to 5 feet past the hole. We played a blind draw, two man better ball format. I shot 103 and had a 13 handicap (80%) all in all while not a good score considering the length, and greens I wasn't hating it. After the post round luncj we headed out to a clinic by Cameron McCormick. That was fun and again a pic and video on my SM pages. Tomorrow is the Big Fish....The straits couese. #cantwait On the meantime here are some pictures from today.

The last couple of posts have brought a question to my mind and I would like to ask my fellow testers. If you could only keep one club from this set, what would it be and why? This was a tough one for me, as there are two contenders: the AW and the 4 iron. I love the AW, I feel confident in it from 80-110 yards. I just find it easy to control the distance and I feel like I can hit the green consistently from that distance. But if I had to choose, I would stick with the 4 iron. As I'm working with it more, I'm getting confident that I can use it off the tee for the holes that driver isn't the best option. I am also getting more confident with it off the fairway, and for the last couple of rounds it's been better off the turf than my 3 wood. The main reason I love this club is that it's a beast for hitting knockdown shots for those times you've got to keep it under branches. I mean, in this situation, it cooks with gas. This is a shot that I hate having to make, but with my past experiences with this game, I need. Those are just a couple of examples of some shots that have gotten me out of trouble with trees. Now if I could just hit a stinger... Sent from my SM-N975U using MyGolfSpy mobile app

Another short 9 and another +8 Happy enough with that on a not my best ball striking day. 4 pars, 3 bogeys, 1 double and 1 triple I've gotta keep working on avoiding those "other" score holes - one of which was due to a tee shot pulled left OB. Had that 1 penalty, and then 2 x 2-chips and 1 x 3-putt on the very-sloped last hole .. under-read the sidehill break and missed low, then missed the comeback..... But a fun, little course on a really nice day - especially temperature-wise! - and my wife felt like she made some progress with her swing and game, too .. yea!

70 7/14 fir 14/18 gir 29 putts 18 holes 214’ was total first putt distance. Works out to under 12’/hole. Just spectacular irons today, probably best I have ever hit them in my life. 6 birdies and I missed 3 inside of 10 feet. Now if the driver wouldn’t have cost me 3 strokes it would’ve been a great score. Fairway stats are a little misleading as I only missed 4 fairways by a yard or two. Hit it OB on 2nd hole. 5th hole is a reachable slight dog leg right. I decided to hit it straight into the crap. Think I’m going to stop hitting driver on this hole. It’s either birdie or bogey, guess that’s the perfect risk reward though. Hoping this trend continues.

Love the thread but I would answer no - All drivers produced by OEMs are of reasonably good quality - I agree with that premise - but certainly not the same. Each one has its theory as to how to get to max performance which means that certain heads will work better for certain swing types. With all due respect to some of our respondents it's most certainly not all about the shaft. It's all about the entire fit and as others have accurately stated a shaft/head combo from a certain OEM for a certain player will not necessarily mean that the same shaft is ideal in the next head for that same player - You just need to be fit to get maximized. In regards to it being all about irons at this time of year here that's because they are what are being released and tested at this point. Drivers came out at the end of last season, the beginning of this one. In fact MGS called this the year of the driver early on and from everything our Most Wanted Testers have said and I've seen I have little doubt that they were right. This was one of those year's when most OEM's offered heads that increased launch and reduced spin - the prescription for more distance. If anything you could argue that it is irons that change the least - the advent of Player's Distance Irons over the last few years has been intriguing but other than that there really has been very little new to look at over the past 10 years or so. Granted there has been a move this year by some OEM's to make their GI irons a bit more compact and visually appealing. But I'm not quite sure how successful they've been. At least for me I found that I hit my G30 irons much better than the G410.

Had the season end Senior stroke play tournament today. Rough start, shooting 43 on the front 9 (2 doubles). Turned it around on the back and shot a 1 over 37. 80 for the tourney. Felt like I was striking the ball decent today, particularly my irons, but my putter is really becoming troubling to me. I don't know if I'm having an aim issue or a path issue, but I'm just missing the edges. Going to a resort course tomorrow. Hopefully, my putter will behave

A little disappointing, after my recent upswing. But, hey, that's golf amiright? Went to a funky 9-hole muni haven't played this season or last .. it always seems to go reeeaaallly slloow, plus the maintenance crew is always(??!!??) driving various machines around .. and today was no exception... But thought I'd give it a try anyway, see how I did compared to previously (yes: we golfers do have an underlying masochistic streak!). So my goal was just bogey golf on this short, tree-lined Par 32. Mostly did that, but unfortunately, too many simple errors - that I seem to keep repeating - combined with sub-par ball striking yielded only 1 par to offset 3 doubles ... so finished +2 over bogey golf... The upside is at least this place has a practice bunker, though the "green" is just clover and crabgrass, but the bunker is a good size and in decent shape. Spent a half hour in there just trying to get 4 balls at a time out a from various spots and anywhere within sight range of the flagstick. Mostly successful but this is an area of my golf game that still needs a lotta work.

Funny you ask this, Wedgie, as I was just lamenting to my local range pro that the 4-5-6 irons all had very similar distances to each other when well struck (Smash factor of 1.35 or greater). To give you an idea, the D7 4i was carrying about 210, 5i was about 205, and 6i was 198. Really got me thinking about how I might restructure my bag and maybe eliminate one or two of these irons depending on how well I find I hit them. Even the 7i was close to the group, but not so close as to lump it with the irons above, and I hit it well enough I'd probably keep it regardless, haha!

The test is going to be straight up against my previous set, prepping for the tournament on Friday. Ok it’s just a scramble, but I still want to win. Played 9 with an accomplished player last night. Overcast conditions with damp, thick, heavy air. Humidity was high but the temperatures were in the mid 60's. I birdied three of the first four holes. Bogeyed a tough par 3 and pared everything else for a 33. All in all, very happy with where my game is right now. Also very happy with the cooler temperatures.

Hey all. It's my first time posting to this thread but hopefully the beginning of of regular contributions. I can't begin to describe how encouraging it is to see everyone share their stories. My goal is to use this thread not only as a source of information and encouragement but also as a medium for accountability. I can only hope that I return as much of those things as I receive. I'm Sean and I'm about 120 pounds over what a 32 year old male who is 5'5" should weigh. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and my knees ache most days of the week. Something has to give, and I'd rather that something not be my heart, joints, etc. I'm considering switching to a mostly plant-based diet along the lines of what people like Joel Fuhrman and Ray Cronise prescribe. That would represent a massive change in my lifestyle, but my situation requires a dramatic amount of weight loss. My plan is to make this change when I'm fully prepared (gathered information, tried recipes, consulted with my physician) which I estimate to be about 10 weeks from now. Between now and then I have several major life events happening that I know will sabotage me if I commit any earlier (wedding ~4 weeks out, moving ~6 weeks out, start new job ~ 8 weeks out). From now until that point I'm going to make healthier decisions and try and be as active as possible. It's simply all I have to give at the moment. I want to preemptively thank everyone for being what I'm sure will be the kind of community I need not only right now but moving forward as well.

My wife walked 9 with me, she was on call so we had to stay close to the apartment. Went to Lincoln Country Club, and it was honestly probably the worst conditions I've ever played in. Called for a tee time and they said "just come in whenever, there's no one out". When I got there, the pro shop was closed and I had to pay at their bowling alley counter. They said they had just sent 2 groups off the front, so they sent me off the back. Then I got out to the back and saw that a kid's group through the Y or something just went off the back... The guy in charge of that just said hey we're gonna be a pain to be behind, just go for the front. Such a weird experience. Played solid enough tho, 42 even though the course was really short. Short game saved my butt, chipping and putting felt great. My driver was really inconsistent, and my ball striking wasn't nearly what it's been on the range lately, so that was a little disappointing but I scrambled well. I missed a 4' birdie putt I'd love to have back, and a 10' eagle putt, other than those 2 the flatstick was going to town. And it was nice to be able to walk it with my wife

I played Horn Rapids GC across town today. I only play it a few times a year when a group there is short a fourth for the game of Wolf. Last time I played there was in the spring. A fun game as all players are fairly equal in ability. I played OK; shot 81 but played all par 3's horribly. My only decent par 3 was #17; pushed my shot right and my ball ran down the cart path to the desert. My second shot was from about 30 yards which I stuck to a foot with my 60º Callaway PM Grind for par. I was the only par in the group and the Wolf had to pay double quarters. My best holes were #1 and #18; birdies on both. A quarter on #1 and double quarters on #18. My buddy that I play with in my Monday walking group at my course and I cleaned up against the other two players. My buddy shot 78 and finished 9 quarters up and I finished 6 quarters up.

Obviously I played today as you may have read in the Blueprint thread. Took me a while to find the groove with the driver today, but that back nine charm hit again, 274, 271, 284, 288 were a few that I used GPS for to track distance. I feel like a few more actual rounds and this will just be point and shoot. The irons and wedges had laser guided pin seeking accuracy, it was pretty impressive. I let a few get away from me, but overall probably the best ball striking day I can remember. Short game is taking a little beating because I’ve been working on this, but when I am actually hitting greens from 200 and in the wedges don’t get much work.... and I am perfectly fine with that. Getting a bit more check on my chips that cost us a few strokes today. It seems my distance is back, hitting 5 irons 207, and getting over that 270 mark with the Mini Driver is a swing in the right direction....

Played Lincoln East today - I hit the ball so well but didn't make many putts. I had 4 putts inside 15 ft on the front and didn't make a single one. Ended up with a 67 but Course Rating is only 67.7 so there's that. It's the most putts I've taken this year but I was actually stroking it really well just burned a lot of edges with easy 2 putts. 1 Bogey and 4 Birdies. Was a perfect day - only 91 degrees. 67 FIR 12/14 GIR 17/18 Putts 33 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Had the driver set properly while on the range today. This was actually the first time that my teacher has seen me hit my G410 - he loved the ball flight - I hammered the two that he saw - 237 and 239 onVoice Caddy but longer than that in reality - they both fire past a flag that was 228 away. Oh boy... 14 Clubs Driver is new thanks to MGS testing. Changed shaft in it, too, twice. -2 3W I purchased yesterday. -1 19 degree hybrid, bought and sold this season. -1 4-GW are still the same model, but when I did a warranty replacement I changed shafts. So half point from each club. -4 54 degree is same head, but changed shaft and grip. -0.5 60 degree - same! Putter - same! Bag - Same, although it will be replaced before next season. Ball - I purposely started the season testing four different urethane balls and settled on the MTB Black for about two months. That is until I hit the MTB-X and loved it. -1 Distance device - Purchased GAME Golf Live on eBay to go alongside my laser I got for Christmas. -1 Glove - Same. Shoes - Same, although they will be replaced before next season. Wildcard - Replaced my cart, as the old one was held together by duct tape. Also replaced my ball marker and bought a Check-Go Pro and Eyeline Impact Liner for my balls. -1 -11.5 Total - 8.5/20 (Truthfully, I should subtract more since the shoes and bag are for sure gone before next season starts.) Playing 42 rounds (9/18/scrambles) so far this season after playing no where near that in my life previously and cutting my handicap from 20+ to 12ish? Priceless!

Played again. Still Bad........... Great course however. Outside of Columbus Ohio about 40 minutes called The Virtues Golf Club. Last two rounds have been really bad 85's. The only thing getting me through is that I can play this terrible and muster a round in the mid 80's. Thought I was trending down, but maybe not. Hope everyone else is faring well and playing great.
