Been a busy couple of days gang. Spent Monday at the Tour Edge Media Day at Lake Nona - with presentations by Lamkin, onCore, Finn Scooters, Seed Golf balls, ShotScope and a few others. Got to see the new Tour Edge lineup - and as always it’s quite good, and the EXS220 3-wood is definitely going in the bag. Your faithful MGS team placed second in the Texas Scramble with a 10 under - we lost by one [emoji17][emoji17] Demo Day yesterday was unbelievably cold and windy - but still a good time as always. Most interesting things to me: the new Honma TR20 lineup - both irons are seriously legit and the driver sound and feel was fantastic - I’m also a new found believer in their Vizard shafts. We also took the Wilson 8-iron challenge - they were stung by our ball test and while they said yes, soft is slow, that doesn’t mean soft is short. We hit the new Duo Soft + head to head with ProV1 - Harry hit them both the same distance, Chris gained 4 yards carry and I gained 2. Point made. They did say the whole point wasn’t to show that everyone should play a Duo - for better players it won’t spin enough on the green for them. But as we all know an awful lot of ProV players probably shouldn’t be - and that they won’t be losing Distance with Duo. Chatted with Lynx for quite a while A they definitely fixed the sound and feel of their switch face driver. Last year we only had a few shits with it - and the sound wasn’t quite right. They had hoped to release it last April, but sound issues and R&A/USGA issues got in the way. They fixed both and it felt very very good and seems to perform as well. Lynx also introduced a really fascinating new line of junior clubs called Ai. Watch out for these - they did something truly unique. SQAIRZ golf shoes was intriguing as well. The New Hampshire based company says it’s shoe is made for stability and both Chris and I tried them on. Just standing there you felt more stable and they seemed to keep you grounded during the swing. They felt very comfortable, but the looks might be a bit polarizing. The square toe and overall large, uhhh, footprint made it look an awful lot like a cross-country ski boot. Didn’t bother me much, but it will probably annoy some. Japanese OEMS OnOff, Fourteen and PRGR we’re together on demo day - you want soft forged irons, look no further. And speaking of soft forged irons, the Mizuno MP20 HMB’s are an early contender for bag status. Oh. My. Gawd! Here are some pix. The show opens today - I’ll be attending the KBS breakfast, a couple of presentations on pace of play and visiting as many booths as possible. Tonight will be an Orlando Magic game with Golf Pride. Arrived....... Just three days before the Club Championship......so I gotta wait until next week to put them in the bag. But I cheated.....went out yesterday evening and played in the Wednesday Night Shootout..,,just 9 holes, but it was fun! As expected, the irons are 1/2 club longer and fly higher! #CobraCONNECT using the King Cobra F8’s. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Things are winding down this morning - Harry and I might head over the show for one last go-round, but Day 3 is always a light day. Day 2 was, however, was a long one, with a lot of ground covered. Harry and Chris attended an ARCCOS breakfast meeting - it appears they finally have the phone-in-the-pocket thing solved with an module that attaches to your belt. As I understand it, you still need to be in relative close proximity to your phone, but it doesn't have to be physically on you. They're also doing some things with their app - I don't have the details but the boys do - that led ARCCOS's founder to declare that within two years, the laser rangefinder will be obsolete. Bold. I had an interesting conversation with Terry Koehler. We were supposed to chat for about 15 minutes, which turned into 45. I'd spoken on the phone with Terry often but had never met him. He's 65, but hasn't lost his passion for the game. He showed me the head of one of his new wedges (no pictures - not yet!), and it's very nice looking and you can notice there's quite a bit of mass on the upper portion of the head to raise the CG significantly - moreso than any other wedge I've seen. Not sure if he'll have his inventory available in time for Most Wanted testing - he's open to it and if his stuff is in, I'm betting he will submit. Also spoke with Scott White from Ben Hogan - you can expect some pretty cool new stuff from Hogan by the end of February, as well as several other product launches over the course of the year. Things are happening in Fort Worth! One of note is Hogan has signed a deal with Club Champion to have its heads there for fitting - and Club Champion will do the build. They're also looking to take the next step an open up qualified fitters around the country. I don't think they're ready for a big network, but the DTC model can only go so far, and they realize that. Still, the crawl-walk-run mindset is a good one for them. Met with ECCO Shoes - they'll be releasing a 10-year commemorative model of the Fred Couples shoe - the one he wore at the 2010 Masters that kind of started the whole ECCO/spikeless craze. It'll be released March 1st and is pretty much an exact replicate of that shoe, at the 2010 price of $159.00. Took a walk through what we call Desperation Row - the section of the show where the booths are cheap and the products are, uhh, questionable, Saw the B-52 tee - robot tested and guaranteed to give you 7 more yards. Also saw the two-finger gloves - there's really no way to describe it other than you can barely call it a glove. Then there was the magnetic tee-ballmarker-divot tool holder that connects to your shoe because, you know, the pocket is just sooooo inconvenient. Made the rounds with some of the lesser-known putter companies and was particularly impressed with Bloodline - the putter that stands up on its own. Not sure if I've ever rolled a better feeling putter. I was fully prepared to not like it, but could easily see putting it in the bag - it was that good. Being able to stand the putter up for alignment isn't a totally crazy idea, and if you think it's going to "slow down the game," I seriously doubt it. You have to line the putt up anyway - this is just a different way of doing it. The shaft is a very, very, VERY light composite - so much so that they ship it with a protective plastic tube that you need to put in your bag to keep it safe. It needs to be light to have the low balance point, but if you want to game one, you're going to have to treat your putter differently. It might be worth it. Saw the new IndiGolf putters - the Allison and the Ramone. They were okay - a little busy looking for my taste, but not bad. The names came from a cool place - Ramone for the Ramones and the Allison for the old Elvis Costello song with the line all putters should hope for - "My aim is true...." Saks Parente has two new putters - an Anser style and a sorta/kinda 8802 looking model - albeit a hell of a lot bigger. The Asner model was legit, and they had three different composite shafts to try and it interesting how you could tell the difference. Pictures to come....

Here’s an answer........... Buy clubs with lofts that aren’t “jacked”! Clubs from 1980 were jacked compared to 1960. 1960s were jacked compared to 1920. 1920s were jacked compared to 1261 when the first known reference to “kolf” was made by the Dutch! While you’re at it, buy a bunch of feathers covered with leather, because ball tech is the REAL problem these days! Good gracious. Play. A. 30*. Five. Iron. If. It. Makes. You. HAPPY! p.s. Make sure to “drive” to the course in your horse-drawn wagon too because car engines have gotten way too fast! Heck, why use the internet?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Played 18 with only my white ball stash. Played whole round with same ball. Simply put: the best round I have played in close to 3 decades! Played men's forward tees 5310 yards. TOTAL SCORE: 78!! NO penalties, NO 6's, 11 pars, 2 fairway sand traps that did not affect scores at all 30 putts, 85% fairways off the tee. Drives were longer than ever: 210-235 on all driver uses, and well centered in terms of line. Some of that must be the result of comfort with my PING G410+ driver. I have only had it for just over 2 months. Still every time better results. Perhaps a solid combination of both additions. The greatest improvement was in the way the ball bit on wedges and chips. I think I had saved 4-6 strokes on that alone. Add a few lucky breaks, good putting and no penalties, I am ecstatic. It is fair to add that as this was the first time playing the RX on course; it had to have a solid contribution .

And FedEx came through. Two nice big boxes, one with clubs and one with a PXG carry bag. Just a few initial thoughts. The level of detail in the packaging was just amazing. All clubs were in this foam box insert that kept them safe and sound. A quick check on specs and all are dead on from real quick check, will dig in a bit more this afternoon. Overall just very well done by PXG on the deliver aspect. And these blades are just dead gorgeous Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know sticking to one brand goes against the MGS way, but I really enjoy it. I'm from Chicago and it's fun celebrating a classic brand based out of my city that really makes great stuff. They lack the credit they deserve and I don't mind the fact that just about all of it can be found at a great price. So here's what I'm working with: Driver: Wilson Cortex 9.5* with Graphite Design G-60 Red X-stiff Fairway: Wilson FG Tour F5 17* with Axivcore Black X-stiff (at 16*) Hybrid: Wilson M3 21* with Aldila Phenom 85 Stiff (at 20*) Utility: Wilson V4 Utility 4 iron with Aldila Green 105S Irons: Wilson FG Tour V6 5-GW, S300 AMT Wedges: Wilson PMP 55, 59 KBS Hi-rev 2.0 Putter: Wilson Staff 8802 milled Next moves: Wilson Staff Model Wedges once I can get them in custom shafts. The stock are too light. I also need the new utility but haven’t been able to test it yet. Also, my bag is from Shapland Bags. They're an up and coming name in the golf industry that everyone needs to check out. Their bags are phenomenal. Let me know what you think! Thanks, Peter

And we have our winners! But first: data! The odds of correctly picking eleven 50/50 guesses (like a coin toss) is about 1/2,000. With just under 300 entries, we wouldn't necessary expect a perfect entry—but we got one! To be sure, the odds aren't exactly 50/50 for each of these props. Oddly, the most lopsided vote was for the National Anthem length. Apparently, you guys have strong feelings that the Anthem goes long. It doesn't, and so 2/3 of the entries were out of the race for a perfect sheet before the game began. On the one prop that genuinely is a 50/50 shot—the coin toss—the guesses were weighted toward heads. The toss was tails. After the Anthem and the coin toss, roughly 250/300 of us had already gotten one prop wrong. That's a rough start! In forum administration news, I beat @GolfSpy STUDque and @GolfSpy Dave to take home the doesn't-actually-exist mod trophy. If you want to check how you finished, the complete results are in this spreadsheet. But now the real competition with the real prizes: We had a tie for second/third. @Jason Day and @Parsorbetter345 each nailed every prop except for the Anthem time. Unfortunately—ahem—neither completed the tie break by posting a final total score in the contest thread. So the mods huddled up (metaphorically) and called an audible (also metaphorical): whoever posted his picks first would take second place. Since Parsorbetter345 got his picks posted on Tuesday night and Jason Day did his last Wednesday, Parsonbetter345 nabs second place. Jason Day takes third. And now a major round of applause for the only perfect set of picks in our contest: @bogeyboy69! Adding to his impressive entry: his tie break score was 55, only 4 points off the actual number. As a reminder, Jason Day will be getting a sweet set of Fujikura/MyGolfSpy alignments sticks. Parsorbetter345 gets a set of the sticks and a PING glove. And bogeyboy69 gets the sticks, the glove, and a MyGolfSpy hat! Congrats to these forum members and thanks to all for playing!

I'm so sorry Foz but I have to..... Four Floridian Golf Spies played together the week after Christmas. The round was a blast, the golf so so - on the back nine we were followed for several holes by a family of deer. On 17 they crossed the fairway and each of us grabbed our phones to take pictures. Three of us had already hit our tee balls. I hopped in the cart waiting for Foz to hit and he jumped in the cart next to me. I said, "Aren't you going to hit?" He said, "I did already." I said, "Oh I didn't see you where did you go?" "Right down the middle." The other Spies in our group couldn't recall him hitting either, he started to drive off towards his "ball" and suddenly stopped. He had been so distracted by the deer that he had forgotten to hit and was remembering one of the other drives as being his - In his defense he had taken his driver out and put it away when he grabbed his phone. Still it was a riot I've seen lots of funny things on the golf course but this one is still fresh in my memory banks.

With the release of the USGA/R&A Distance Report this week, it seems the perfect time to offer a review of a shaft that is designed for....guess what...more club head speed. The Fujikura Motore X shafts hit stores this week, and even debuted in the bag of at least one PGA Tour Pro at the Waste Management. You can read all the details of the new shaft on the home page in this first look piece by My Golf Spy's Chris Nickel, to see how Fujikura says they are able to "Multiply" a drivers swing speed. Read it Here Will it work for you? Well that's what we're going to ask five forum members--that reside in the United States--- to test for themselves and report back to the forum on the results The five testers will go through a phone fitting with a Fujikura fitter to determine the best model for them. They will then receive the shaft put it through paces on the range--Ideally with a launch monitor access--and on the course over several weeks, track and monitor the results versus their current gamer, then write and publish their full length review here on the forum. Testers will be required to keep up an ongoing dialogue in the review thread while testing the shaft. Once the testers are selected and most likely during the phone fitting, you will be asked what driver head you are using, and the shaft will be sent with the adapter for that head, you will be all set to put it on and go test!! How to Apply to Enter Read ALL the details below and enter your information in a post in this thread. PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE THIS POST IN YOUR REPLY. JUST PROVIDE THE INFO REQUESTED. Testing is for US Residents per the OEM's request. First Name/State Current Driver Shaft Current Driver Swing Speed What if anything would you like to improve in regards to your driver shaft..such as more or less spin, better dispersion, more distance..etc. Do you have regular access to a Launch Monitor--Not required, but would be helpful in testing. That's it, we'll be selecting the testers sometime late next week. Good Luck!

For those of you who know anything about me, you'd know that I've got a flavor for eclectic, off the beaten path, not so mainstream equipment. One might also interpret that as NOT 2020, NOT gigantic name brand, and definitely NOT high-dollar. Well the answer would be yes to both. It's not often that I'm able to get my lean budget, mint clubs, and new "ish" tech to all play nice in the sandbox together. I know Wilson is a little better known brand but like Bridgestone, it's just not a name many would go to a their first pick. I've wanted to own a set of W/S sticks for a while. Well for a very lean $125 I picked up these beauts. I honestly can't see how these were played with for more than three rounds. They're in demo quality with just very light scuffing on the face of a few the more I practice, the luckier I seem to get..

In my recent iron fitting I also looked at what to have in the bag between driver and 4 iron. Going with just my Exotics EX-9 Long set at 15* as it hits the gap below driver just right. There’s really no need to have anything between the Z585 4 iron and the Exotics, so this is the set-up starting 2020. I’m going with the Flash SZ set at 9*, up from 8*, because my spin on Trackman was showing to be 1700-1900, and that’s too low. I’m going to see if setting it at 9* keeps my launch ok, and spin just over 2000. Hey guys, you all really are a top notch group and thank you for your feedback. This is a learning moment for me as well and I welcome moments like this to help me become a better person. just to provide some additional clarity, I didn't intend for this to be a specific age-bashing rant. I'm just curious if anybody else is noting the same observations that I am. I could very well just be starting to become the spitting image of my old man "who we all swore we'd never be like" when we were younger :P. In fact, a couple of weeks ago I had one of the most enjoyable rounds in along time with my pops, and 2 college aged kids that were nothing short of stellar individuals. Anybody who knows me personally, would vouch that I'm really not a fire spitting hot head that looks for trouble around every corner. 9.5 times out of 10 I have skin thick enough to not get bothered by things. I've replayed this situation back removing my daughter from the equation and I'm certain that my reaction and possible overreaction would have been significantly different. I've had numerous rounds where a ball lands close by and I felt that my playing partners reactions were a bit overplayed. I guess it was just my hot button at that moment. In fact, on a par 4 on the back, one of the guys in the group behind us smashed a drive that ended up rolling through our green while we were putting. My daughter was safe in the cart. While the guys I was playing with weren't thrilled, I looked back and gave the guy a big thumbs up for getting a 300+ bomb. They drove up and apologized, we laughed about buying us beers (diet coke for me), and that was a good time. On a more positive note, I'm very proud to admit that my daughter is one of the most polite little kids that I know and hopefully because of the better examples we set. Also to add one more important detail, I wasn't raising my voice in the slightest. I re-read my initial post and it could be misconstrued that I was screaming death threats at the kid. In the moment I made certain that I wasn't raising my voice and my daughter was far enough away to not hear dad's potty mouth. I think it was really the kid's lack of emotion or empathy that just sent me through the roof. She did however say something along the lines of "daddy were you telling that guy that he almost hit me and that next time he needs to say FORE?" "yes sweetie.. something like that". So even in that instant, my daughter knew that he was in bad form. Thanks again for all of your input.

It has nothing to do with age, believe me. Most of my"negative" interactions on the golf course have been from gentleman much older than me. Ignorant and rude people are ignorant and rude people. Age has nothing to do with it. Like Rob said, I would have probably said something and then if I didn't get a response I would have moved on - especially if my kid was with me.

Simple answer - get fit. It's the only way of knowing what is going to work for your swing. Shafts that are "high launch" don't automatically launch the ball higher and low launch shafts dont launch the ball lower. All it means is they have different bend and stiffness profiles and everyone reacts differently to weight, stiffness and profile. Before spending over a thousand dollars on a new set of irons, go to club champion or True Spec and spend the $100 on an iron fitting. It will be worth every penny

Got on course today for the first time since late October, got out with the new T300. Bit of rust on the first hole, but bounced back nicely with the first birdie of the year on the 2nd hole. 128 yard par 3, 9 iron to about 12 feet left of the hole, and rolled the putt in Ended up with a 42 for 9 holes, and narrowly missed my 2nd birdie of the year on the par 5 7th. Overall was pretty happy with the way the irons went, a few lose drives. Putter was pretty solid as well. Guess I'll keep the irons for a couple weeks

I bit the bullet after seeing the Mevo+ stuff from the PGA show. The Mevo+ looks outstanding, but I'm going to wait to see if there are better deals around Black Friday next year, even $100 or $200 off would be a big deal. I still need a full size mat, iPad and netting before the Mevo+ would be usable at home. And who knows, maybe SkyTrak will have some good updates by then, too? Looking forward to adding a bunch of new metrics to my practice sessions. The Mevo offers a lot more data than what my current Swing Caddie SC200 does. The biggest thing I'm excited about is the storage of swing data and the auto-clipping of video within the app. Right now I do all of that in a manual fashion, and the process is quite time consuming.

The negativity, cynicism, and outright ignorance about new releases by some on here is absolutely nauseating. If you don't care about new golf equipment and enjoying the game, why are you here? People get some sort of high by talking down about everything and telling people that they aren't enjoying the game correctly? Get the hell out of here. This is a community of golfers that like new equipment, old equipment, playing for best score, playing for fun. People who buy new equipment every month every year or every decade. Who gives anyone the right to be a source off constant negativity? Let's have fun. Talk about our experiences playing, trying new equipment, etc. This whining about new equipment and marketing is annoying and brings absolutely nothing relevant or interesting to our community. If you want to get on a soap box with hot takes, go post on Facebook or Twitter.

This is an idea I first heard about from the guys at No Laying Up and just today Andrew Jensen posted a YouTube video on it. I'm proposing a MyGolfSpy Birdie Every Hole on Your Home Course Challenge for the 2020 season! The challenge is simple: during the course of the year, you have to record a birdie on each hole at your home course. (I suppose it doesn't have to be your home course: if you visit a new track and shoot a 54, that would count as well.) Start posting now with a summary of the challenge in front of you. What's the layout of your course? What holes are the easy birdies, and which are the holes you're least likely to birdie? And to make sure no one's left out, there are two side categories: The Par Every Hole at Your Home Course Challenge (PEHaYHC) The Birdie Every Hole Except the Par 5s Which You Have to Eagle Challenge (BEHEP5WYHtE) Let us know which category you're entering, and let's see who can get it done this season! EDIT: I've whipped up a simple scoreboard to keep track of the birdies as they roll in! Use your forum name, pick your category (pars, birdies, or birdie/eagles), and put an "x" in the box when you accomplish your goal for each hole: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1P9-C6rS1vIO44rYbPDqQgLlTxGxYQtsQHAs31t1j_sU/edit?usp=sharing

Does it count if I break 80 on a par 71 course? 79 7/14 FiR 8/18 GiR 34 putts Still struggling with driver consistency, 3 of those hit fairways were with fairway metals or my 4i. Might just need something new to look at down by the ball

From my round yesterday at Navy Marine with[mention=72400]yungkory[/mention]. My best round of the year for sure, and while there’s still plenty to clean up I’m happy with the round. The grind continues!

Feeling pretty proud of myself. Started (officially) in a new role this week, and my employer did a profile of me for their social media. https://www.facebook.com/BarwonHealth/?__tn__=kC-RH-R&eid=ARAM9FnQGbF_0tlqymNm0OgThfbIjedKhQLVVIS-NOpyXyU7TTKrUV41USdOiOmHCFbwgoFgGncs4iK5&hc_ref=ARRF-kWeHEZBdclHK_YFfwSFSdHONt_nZkGqMWt0oaCrzKSDXLwdf1kCFn-lP2zdPpg&fref=nf&__xts__[0]=68.ARCfAXTPwDgvSdVadumGuDy78KB_Z1WjCH6xdnb2FixGFvaapLcvpNbICqTBmcLJumUVMEy5vQvZWsL9nyc9mwa4LGqmC8Sd7hIGVwYbrTJg-tac1P4jy8gxb2bD08dYLBXATOqOH7OnhUtigp8XOOduuB6q8IbmYidSRgbN914pTyRoKToyPnDmBatDtS8Xwc8iyS6Tr74Lh2d4SJdVsm4lWB-nPz5TnwGHt4sPIygMwdVDKRGGtRYNjHhohtCq8bhQfoW0IEWtVlwoWCBEAFfE38YSdMqBixGNj2kIezF6kOaK3w8hq7WHfSMPVqX6hnEyg3HBAi_280Nqebm-EGjhwPg2zwMoxwm1cQg5sOgqzXw Apart from me not thinking my hair is as red as the picture, I'm pretty pleased with how it came up.

50 and wet today. Started off slow with the putter...four putted the first and three putted the second. Driver was fantastic; cutting down the driver seems have been a good idea. Hitting my pitches well, just coming up short; need to work on that a bit more. Total game started coming together about the 6th hole; I started hitting greens and didn't need the short game shots. 42-38-80.

Friday Bacon Boys. Took the G410 irons out after playing Mizuno’s last 3-4 times out. First 2 holes disaster even though I parred them, chipping & putter saved my “bacon”, [emoji52]. Then started to hit them well and felt pretty good, decent Distance and height. Going to keep them in the bag for a while Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

... For those that have never been to the PGA Show, after doing it several years it can get a little boring waiting in line for hours on Demo Day to hit clubs you know are going to be good. Or waiting to talk to someone at the Show about a product you already know pretty well. The real treat is finding a product that was off your radar and then being very impressed with it and even putting it in your bag. Obviously you found a gem in the rough with the Bloodline putter, maybe even something you might never have had an opportunity to try. Great stuff Barbajo! ... And for novelty enjoyment, finding ridiculous products that you just have to laugh at. A tee that adds 7 yards? Use two and gain 14 yards! Everyone knows how easy golf is on your back so bending down to your shoe to get your ball marker and divot repair off your shoe must have been designed and marketed by a Chiropractor.

Went through a driver fitting at Club Champion earlier today. I love my Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero head but was pretty iffy on the stock Hzrdus Smoke shaft. After 60+ minutes of trying different shafts the clear winner was a Fujikura Ventus Blue 6X. Carry went up about 10 yards but more importantly the dispersion was much tighter. I knew the shaft would be expensive and Club Champion did not dissapoint. They wanted $415 for the shaft, $15 for the grip, and another $35 to install the standard Callaway adapter. Total of $465 but that did include shaft PUREing. I called the head pro at my local course and he can get the shaft with adapter and grip already installed for $330 (plus I get to use up my shop credit). Ding ding ding we have a winner!
