  1. The Fujikura VENTUS driver shafts have taken the golfing world by storm, claiming to be more stable and consistent with tighter dispersion and increased ball speeds than its predecessor. The new Fujikura VENTUS shaft, powered by VELOCORE technology, has a lot to live up to. About The Fujikura VENTUS A premium driver shaft that has made its way into the bags of many tour professionals and amateurs alike, the Fujikura Ventus with VELOCORE has become a go-to golf shaft since its introduction in 2018. In 2024, Fujikura released a new VENTUS Blue version with VELOCORE+ technology and advanced materials to improve on what was already a very popular choice. A key change in the 2024 version is a simplified bend profile with a re-engineered multi-material bias core claiming to improve stability for more consistent strikes. Additionally, the new VELOCORE+ claims to enhance feel and the overall performance of this high-end driver shaft. 3. Good Morning everyone! I’m happy to say that I woke up. Yes, I aged a whole year today; I have always thought of the Tennessee Ernie Ford song, 16 Tons… "another day year older and deeper in debt. St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go. I owe my soul to the company store.” (Most of you young’ens will have to look that up.) At 77 it’s now easier to shoot my age!! Lots going on today. Have to take my wife’s car in for oil change and check up for our cross country trip to the MGS Kingsmill outing. We leave next week. She gave up he Tuesday golf game with the Ladies to play golf with me today… we always play golf together on our birthdays and anniversaries! Looks like another gorgeous 85º sunny day. After golf I’m taking her to her heart doctor appointment and picking up her car before we head out for an Italian dinner at Europa restaurant. Best wishes for a terrific Tuesday everyone and thanks for the birthday wishes. I might take a mulligan… you can take one to!!

  4. Good morning spies! Long day on tap today. Last regular season game of the women’s high school soccer season tonight and it’s two hours from home. Kick off is at 7pm which will get me home around 11pm. Totally worth it to see my daughter play though. Pretty nice weather in the forecast this week so I should be able to get out and actually play golf more regularly. Really trying to relax on the tee box and find more fairways and par 3 greens. Sunday’s round saw some good improvement in that category. Time to roll some putts and then head to work, have a great day spies.

  6. Good morning MGSpies from an early dawn in downtown Buffalo enjoying a quiet moment with coffee in the mug and Tycho's Division on Pandora. Yesterday ended up being a day for taming the lush lawn that this spring's rain has watered into abundance yet could only do half of the backyard as it hadn't dried enough to keep the mower from bogging down. Going to try for 9 holes on the way home or minimum of a bucket of balls to put some Smoke in WNY and capture the action on the thread in my signature below. All the best to everyone in everything you do and hope golf is part of your day 15

  7. Morning All, The goal was to play a round this morning. However, this is my current situation. Tunnel was blocked and just got back open. With me now scheduled to got to work about an hour before work starts, I won’t have time. Rain is supposed to move in later today. Maybe I’ll try to get out for a quick 9 during lunch. Saw some hockey talk about rangers, the deadwings, sabres and the booins. I hope Florida beats Boston. That would be ideal. Until next time though, have a great day everyone.

  11. Start of a little vacation for me and my wife. May only be a day and a half, but will be the first time we are away from the kids and leaving them since they were born (2.5 and 11 months old). Thankfully they are in good hands with my folks and we are excited to head up to the top of Europe (Jungfraujoch) and enjoy a nice stay at a thermal and spa. So all you behave while I am semi-off the grid! lol Hope everyone has a great and wonderful Tuesday and congrats to the testers who have been announced!

  12. Good Tuesday morning MGS…. Long night and an early morning. Will have at least one more day out here at work. Playing tourista yesterday, I managed to be where the rain and hail weren’t. Back to the mid to high 90’s for temperatures today. My lady fair’s “ Dark Kingdom “ took some hits from the hail and rain storms yesterday. She is fine and I will check for damage when I get home in a couple of days. May your day be everything you want it to be…. Good bye.

  13. Good morning all! Busy day yesterday with some work meetings, my wife had a workout in the morning, then more meetings in the afternoon. Then went and picked up new to us mountain bike so we can get out son out there who is really getting into it. It seems to be a great deal and bike according to our neighbors who are very much into biking. These days are just flying by lately. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

  15. Good morning and happy Tuesday! A rainy Monday to start the week, so I'm hoping that today is a little more clear. I'm also hoping for another productive day today. I've got a busy week this week, so I need to make sure I'm staying on top of stuff. So far, it has been busy, but good. I'm hoping for more of that throughout the week. I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!

  16. Got out to the NC State course this afternoon after work. Front nine closed for aeration, but the back nine was open and I played it (walking and carrying) twice. Drives were decent once I remembered my swing thoughts. Used the Mindset balls and again was hitting fairways once the swing thoughts were fixed; distances weren't super long but I had a couple of 200+, and hit 6 of the last 10 fairways. Putting sucked as usual. Came millimeters from a miracle birdie on #15 the second time around; pitch from 40 yards out hit the pin and stopped two feet away. I parred 15 both times. Also parred 16 the second time, which was an extremely rare two-straight-pars for me. Sand was my nemesis; the two holes I got in greenside bunkers, the bunkers won the war. Shot 92 anyway though in spite of the sand mishaps. NC State is a VERY hilly course. The guy I played with was impressed that I walked all 18 toting the sticks. I'm feeling it right now, believe me, and will probably feel it more tomorrow. Post my scores, take a shower and ibuprofen, and go to bed.

  17. A good morning to all on this fine Tuesday morning. Enjoying my morning coffee, catching up with the posts. Today's tasks involves reshaping some of the planter beds and then some range/practice time this afternoon. For those who are interested in the L.A.B. DF3 putter testing, we have introduced something new. In a new feature of the testing, we are introducing the MyGolfSpy Tester of the week for the L.A.B. DF3. In this new feature, each week we will highlight one of the testers. The purpose is to highlight the great work they are doing, but also to get to know them a bit better. 18. Good morning, everyone. So excited to be a tester again and this time with Fujikura. I already play an older model of the Ventus Blue and super pumped to see what the new technology has to offer. Will take a couple of days to put together a 6 week testing plan and its happening at the perfect time with the school year coming to an end and lots of golf in my viewfinder. @CFreddie hope you have a great trip with SWMBO! @GolfSpy_APH enjoy some well deserved time away with SWMBO as well. I remember how hard it was to get any time away after our triplets were born. Thank god for grandparents! Happy birthday @Kenny B! And to everyone else, have an amazing Tuesday!

Sorry, been hanging low the past couple weeks, not feeling my best , with an on going cough and just lousy in general, trying to get back into the swing of things. l see Rose Zang won the LPGA event with a Odyssey AI DB this week. @Rob Person I’m sure she made you proud, the birthday is coming up in about 2 weeks, got a round booked already at RockyGap resort in Maryland to celebrate and then hit the casino. Glad to see so many reviews and interactions going on, can’t say enough about MGS, and the members. Happy to be part of such a great community.

  22. Good morning spies on this wet Tuesday morning. I am on my way to the golf course to work in the rain. Apparently, there is somebody called the "President" of the RTJ Alabama showing up for a surprise inspection, and they want all hands on deck, even while there is only 18 tee times on the books Maybe I'll get to put the stix out for a little wet weather testing. boy, something like that galway gear Sure would be handy today. 23. Good morning Spies on a cloudy Tuesday morning here in the Motor City. Wanted to also say "Happy Birthday" to @Kenny B, looking forward to meeting up in a few weeks in VA. @GolfSpy_APH Jamie enjoy your time away, relax and have fun during your "alone time" together. @buckpillar best wishes for your health situation. @Woodrow72 I know all too well about the rainy conditions in the Midwest, so hope you are able to get out today. Not much on the agenda today, doing some things around the house, and dinner tonight with my son, grandson, and a group of friends at a local Texas Roadhouse. They are donating 10% of today's total restaurant sales to Leader Dogs as long as one shows them an advertisement they created showing their charitable contribution event. Hope your day is the best it can be, and that something fun and enjoyable is in your plans.

  25. Well so far it has not rained as much as I had expected. Fully prepared for it to still be cart path only of course, but so far at least this morning the deluge hasnt appeared. Now.... this things basically a rotating star fish pinwheel over my poor state currently so it may end up being a case of dodging rain bands, hopefully minimal to no lightning. So heres hoping the spiral deluge of doom doesnt precipitate me needing a canoe this afternoon. edit: realized I needed to update my profile too. ugh... so long 30-39 age bracket

  27. Many direct-to-consumer brands are praised for their irons and the value they can bring to those looking to spend a little less while still getting a high-performance product. The long game clubs, on the other hand, are often overlooked. Still aiming to provide superior performance but for a lesser price, this is where we want to see where the Takomo golf clubs stack up. About Takomo A Finnish company, Takomo, has made splashes by signing various golf influencers recently, significantly boosting their profile. They are a direct-to-consumer brand that offers a variety of golf clubs at competitive prices. In 2023, our Forum Members reviewed their iron series with high praise for their performance, adding that their simplistic but generally pleasing aesthetic appeals to many golfers. Since then, Takomo has ventured into the long game clubs, releasing UDIs, hybrids, fairways, and drivers, all with similar claims of being able to compete with the best of the best. Please welcome and congratulate our testers! @Jim Shaw @ToastedSoul @Big Deal Walsh @THE GOLF GUY

  28. Good morning all and Happy Tuesday. What should have been a really fun first game of my son's baseball team devolved into a chaotic and embarrassing situation due to a heavily intoxicated parent. Yes, at a 7 & 8 year old's baseball game. This particular mom does not live in Reedsburg, but was in town for Mother's Day, though you can hardly call her that, and I am hoping will not be present at any future games. She was continuously coming into the dugout and field area although myself and multiple other coaches of both teams asked her repeatedly to leave. She was actively drinking, smoking cigarettes near the kids, was at one point actually sitting in the dugout, and made the experience miserable not only for her child but everyone else who was there. I handled the situation as calmly as possible, and things didn't really come to a head until the game finished, thankfully. I had the dads who were helping me coach take our boys into the outfield while I attempted to discuss with this person why their behavior was so inappropriate. If you've ever dealt with drunks/alcoholics, you know there is no reasoning or ways in which you can get your point across. The police were called and I eventually turned things over to them. City ordinance allows consumption of alcohol in parks, which I am not a fan of and will be bringing this up to the city. It is an outlier incident, but completely inappropriate. I was horrified by the entire situation, and felt so bad for everyone involved, especially the boy on my team and his younger sister who was also there with mom. I don't expect her to be back, and if she does show up, she has the right to be there so long as she is sober and does exactly what I tell her to do in regards to watching the game and not interjecting. At that point, or if I suspect alcohol is present, I am to call the police and she will be arrested. The boys had fun, and I did my absolute best to shield them, as well as the boys from the other team, from everything that was unfolding. We have our next game Thursday and I am hoping that it will go much better from that standpoint.

  29. Good morning spies! Temperatures have dropped overnight with some rain coming through the area. No golf on the agenda today, but will definitely be working on some mirror work and putting in the house today in between trying to do actual work. Working on securing a foursome for golf in Florida while I'm down there for my cousin's wedding this upcoming weekend. Secured a morning tee time on Friday, just need to convince my dad and cousin to join in on the fun. Congrats to all the testers selected for the Ventus shaft opportunity! I currently have an older Blue Ventus Velocore shaft in my driver and it's been awesome. Excited to see how this new model holds up. @Kenny B happy birthday! Hope you have a great one! @GolfSpy_APH enjoy the time away! We'll do our best not to get into too much trouble... Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

  31. Good morning MGS Nation! Yet another dreary start to the day here in Maryland. Nice hot cup of Pomegranate Mojito tea pushing back some of the gloom. Not a lot in store here today: finally got the pool completely drained and cleaned out: no more slime. All the Eastern Tree frogs that were found have been relocated to another, safer water shed area. Only golf for today is iron work at lunch (if the heavens don't open up) and to roll some putts indoors with the DF3 after work. League play is tomorrow night, again, if the 90% chance of rain can stay at bay for a bit. Hope everyone has a great day and that golf figures into your plans today! Hit 'em straight MGS Nation! 🏌

  33. Good Morning Spies! Its a fantastic day out in Virginia Beach! Just got notification, DF3 is out for delivery! Beyond excited to start rolling some putts, but unfortunately heading out on leave tomorrow morning, so the gaming will have to wait until I return. Finally bit the bullet on a Melin hat, so we'll see if it really is worth the price tag. This summer I've got a few items I'm gonna work on writing unofficial reviews on, specifically on my Garmin S70, DF3, and probably the Melin Hat. For those that have done long posts/reviews, is my best bet to draft in Word/Google Docs then copy and paste? Take care Spies and have a great day!

  35. Good morning, fellow golfers, I was able to escape Friday afternoon to play 9 and shot a +3! I believe I figured out my drives with the help of the forum members. I started standing further from the ball to let the arms swing freely through. Nice easy tempo and I was hitting them straight and long. Now for the consistency!!!! Hope everyone has a great week and as always, hit 'em straight!

  36. Happy Tuesday all! Happy B day @Kenny B Didn't post any Monday moanin' yesterday. Prepping for a presentation where I had to act like I knew something and wasn't completely winging it. All went well, maybe there's something to the fake it until you make it. These guys are coming back to the mass of oriole feeders that pop up in our the yard. "black budget" is sometimes used to describe the portion of the budget that is allocated to classified or covert operations. These funds are require secrecy and are not publicly disclosed. How much is the grape jelly and orange budget for all the feeders? Wouldn't know, I'm not cleared for that level of information.

  37. It had 2 issues. One was a weakened cross support mount from the tire rack carrier that also supports the bumper, then it has to have an expanded secondary support bolted to that to spread across the width for added impact/ strength support. The right side had already started to twist from using the "bumper step" to get into the bed, and was pushing into the rear bed panel. Welcome back Buck! I hope whatever ailment you have, will resolve itself quickly.

  40. I had mentioned in a different thread that I was going for an iron fitting at Golftec today. I had a great experience there last year with driver and was able to line up the same fitter. He remembered me and my irons which was great. I was upfront with him when I scheduled and told him I ended up getting fit elsewhere for irons last summer because I wanted Srixon - Golftec fits for a number of brands but not them. I really liked the look and feel of those clubs. Long story short they have been a miss from the get go - We used the old reliable D7 forged irons as my baseline - I did hit a few with the Srixon 7 iron and got exactly what I have been getting - shots that flew longer, spun less and started way left and went lefter. In checking the lie angle they are too flat for me and as I suspected the shaft is lighter than he would have recommended for me - fitters so matter as many of us know and these were a misfit. Back to today. The numbers with the D7 forged were reasonable and pretty accurate to what I experience on the course. Ball speed in the high 90's launch angle of just under 20, good descent angle, draw, carry of 140 run out to around 147 - 145 is my stock 7 iron shot with that iron - that creates a gap to my 6 hybrid BTW - that's what made me go hunting last year, plus I know that 5 years of iron technology is significant. My dispersion with that club was very reasonable as well. I asked him if it was in keeping with a mid single digit handicap and he said it was really closer to a scratch players dispersion than the 8 I'm playing to - distance was another matter but my dispersion pattern was outstanding. Uhmmmm John asked if there were any iron that I wanted to try in particular. I told, "Titleist T series." He set up a t350 for me. I'm glad we started there because it's what I came in looking for. Until I saw it and hit it. Honestly it did not fit my eye, just a bit too clumsy for my taste. I asked about the T150 which is what the Titleist online fitting tool suggested for me - he said sure if I'd like but honestly that club is not nearly as forgiving as other player's distance irons. I decided to pass as I wanted to try both the Taylor Made and Callaway lines and perhaps Edel. First though he said, "I want you to try the Ping G430." Alright, I thought. He hit on the driver last year what can it hurt? I had tried the G410 a number of years back and did not like them at all. I also gamed the G30 which I hit well but got rid of when I tested the D7 forged for MGS which I hit a bit better - not longer but better dispersion. This one was love on first swing. Shot after shot I picked up 7 yards of carry, about 500 rpms of spin, 2 degrees in launch angle, descent at a solid 44 and the dispersion was a tad bit better. Plus, my ball flight was much straighter, baby draw and I was able to hit a fade or two. We set that one aside. Next up was the Taylor Made 790. Loved how the head looked, nice and compact but I was surprised that it appeared closed when I set it behind the ball and hated the business of the first shaft that he gave me - so he changed shafts to a similar profile that was much more reserved - I started hitting shots that with numbers very similar to the Ping. So that got set aside, too. On to Callaway - easily the distance winner mainly because my spin rate was way too low and the pulls started to creep back in - tried a different Callaway (I forget which one) I did get one out there with a carry of 160 but I couldn't do it with any consistency and couldn't keep it on the planet - we both figured I didn't need another Srixon like set in my closet so we worked on dialing in what worked. In the end I went with the Pings - almost identical performance, $40 less a club plus the fitting was free by ordering today. Spec wise I ended up 1/2" shorter than standard, CB alta 70 iron shaft, R flex - so a little heavier than what I had and 1 degree flat instead of 2 (or the 4 in the Srixons - not what I ordered at all.) 7 through GW which in reality is the equivalent of 6 iron through PW in the G30's that I gamed 6 or 7 years ago. The shaft feels as if it transitions nicely to my hybrid and fairway woods which are Ping G 410's. The back of the 7 iron is a bit visible but that really doesn't bother me at all. Now I need to consider what to do about wedges - the GW to that set is a 50 and my wedges all match up with a 48 degree GW. I have my eye on the S59's - I will give them a try once I know that these work - but I intend to make them work. I will drop back in once I get the irons to let you know how I do with them.

  41. Good morning all! It’s beautiful sunny day here in CNY which is a tease because we have about a 1/2 inch of rain headed our way tomorrow. That is particularly upsetting because that means my league night will most likely be cancelled. All in all just trying to stay focused for our vacation starting Thursday. Looking forward to getting out of town for a week or so. Have a great day!

  44. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you WHITE SHAFTS! Was not as easy as advertised per the website, but we have white shafts. I am super swamped this week with work / other commitments, but will HOPEFULLY have heads and ferrules installed at some point this weekend. We have quite a filled 'early-summer' schedule. Soccer game, dance recital (x2)... And that's just Saturday. I'll be traveling for work W-F so no work getting done but was able to at least get this portion DONE. @ctg44 nicely done with the patina look! That is going to fill in nicely. Just a heads up though. Make sure to tape / cover the shafts when doing this. I tried this technique and the shafts ended up getting a little patina'd as well. A little tape will cover them and keep them from damage. Onward.

  45. Good morning! Not a lot on tap for me today other than work and chores around the house. The lingering rain is really putting a damper on my ability to get the DF3 outdoors for some on-course testing and I'm getting twitchy! Have a good day everyone! @Mr_BogeyPro - Are you doing the Moe Norman style or are you not standing that far away? I've been using the Moe Norman swing for about 2.5 years, so I'm always curious to find others! @Preeway - Congrats on the Ventus testing opportunity! Great group of testers for that one and it'll be interesting to compare one of their older models to the new one! Good luck and have fun! @Kenny B - Happy Birthday!!

  46. When I was a tiny tyke, Walter Cronkite hosted a TV show on CBS looking ahead at what the 21st Century would be like, entitled, strangely enough, "The 21st Century". I remember watching it and thinking "I'll be 40 in the year 2000" and that seemed soooooooo old. Now I would love to be 40 again, or at least feel like I was 40. I would love to go back and look at one of those episodes and see if he got anything right. EDIT: I just found an article that did it for me. He projected correctly that many Americans would be able to work from home, but he also projected that technology would reduce the American work week to 30 hours. Uh, no.

  47. Good morning Spies! At work early, full day here in Raleigh then headed to Charlotte. I'm not as sore as I expected after my six-mile hike through the Raleigh Mountains with a golf bag on my back, which is not to say I'm not sore. Got back to the hotel last night and realized my uvula is very swollen. Looked up causes of swollen uvula, and exposure to pollen is high on the list. Given my four hours out in the stuff yesterday, that's the leading contender. Not painful, just feels weird when I swallow. Hopefully it will subside during the day. Today is my mom's 84th birthday, two days after Mother's Day. I sent her a big combo gift which she received Friday, but a call is in order during the drive to Charlotte. Golf related: Possibly a Fit For Golf workout once I get to Charlotte, or a few balls at the range, or both. Or neither... Golf related, part two: My DF 2.1 putter is on its way to the Casa, probably will be there before I get back Friday night. Which undoubtedly means I will find it on the bed with Suzie the cat curled up next to it. Golf related, part 3: Yesterday's 18 resulted in a slight adjustment in the handicap to 19.2. Almost wish it had gone up, given that I'll be playing in handicap tournaments in Scotland. But I'll play to the number they give me.
