  1. I was in Academy Sports and Outdoors yesterday to grab some pellets for my Traeger grill and its the law that you have to at least look at the golf equipment right?

Right at the edge of the golf isle is a table marked clearance and a tag that says take 50% off lowest marked price and on the table are some of last years Zstars that had already been marked down to $27.99 from $44.99....I am thinking do I get another 50% off??!

So I go over to a price check scanner and sure enough they show $13.97 a dozen, now I don't care if they are last years model or not, $14 bucks a dozen for tour level premium balls is a steal in my book!!

I looked around and found all 6 dozen they had left and bought them all!!

If you have an Academy near you it might be work taking a look.

I will say that (I know this wasn't possible), but had waivers been sooner we would have seen a lot different situation. Rosters would have been filled and teams wouldn't have felt the need to do some of the trades which they have done. The good (and bad) thing is goodness only knows what can and will happen with injuries and the like so truly nobody has won it or for that matter is out of it yet.

I’ve never seen waivers this close to the first game….it’s crazy.

I think I’m the only team in the league that hasn’t done a trade 😂

Quick update for Circus, I tweaked the scoring a bit but need everyone to finish setting up their teams before I can finalize the draft. @cciciora13@Lacassem@cwojtowicz@TBT@ChiefMikeOfficer@ChasenLogan please head over to Fantrax and take care of that.

If you're new to Circus, here's the Cliff Notes:

    1. Offensive positions get big points for doing bad things but still being involved. ie, pass attempts, targets, and rushes are good but gaining yards, making catches, and scoring touchdowns are bad. Fumbles and Interceptions are worth as much as TDs in normal scoring.
    2. Flip side, Defense gets big points for getting blown out, giving up a lot of yards, and taking the L but loses points for sacks, int, fumble, etc...
    3. Punters and Kickers are your bread and butter. They get points for doing good things. Kickers get more points for longer FGs, points for touchbacks, and big points for making tackles. Punters do well for punts inside the 20, 10 and are graded based on NET punt yardarge.
    4. IMPORTANT: Rosters are severely limited. You only get 2 bench spots so use them wisely. Additionally, your players are on a pitch count. The max # of periods you can start someone is 8 for the whole season so you better look for trades before running out and being forced to drop.
    5. Free Agents are first come first served at all times. Trades are auto approved. 10 teams make the playoffs and the championship will be week 18. This is circus after all.

    New stuff:

    1. I changed the positions to just be any three RWT and added a second defense. Rosters consist of 1 QB, 3 RWT, 2 K, 2 P, 2 DEF....10 starters and 2 bench.
    2. Due to the league size, we'll go ahead and do 2 copies of each player. 2 match ups per week as well.
    3. The draft will take place September 9th at 7pm EST. Yes, 1 hour and 20 minutes before the season kicks off. This will give you all the time you need to dig deep and build a comprehensive draft board over hours of research.

    Good Luck all....errr...Bad Luck?

Am I missing something, I set my team up already or is this something different?

I live just outside Houston city limits, and the non-resident fees are INSANE. Memorial is $120+ for a Tuesday at 1PM in August. I dont think that included a cart either.

Also if you ever want to get together and play I’m all for that, the guys I play with most of the time can only get out maybe once or twice a month.

Yes The rates at Memorial have skyrocketed since they did the redesign and moved the Houston open there 😳

Hermann park is still a pretty good value add about 48 bucks including cart for weekend teetimes

The ball changed shortly after the first batch was sold out; probably less than a year. Golf balls are generally distinguishable by the markings.  I think the kirklands went from a “performance” to “performance+” on the ball.   I’d go look at the MGS articles about the Kirkland balls and you should be able to Gary her the information you are seeking.

Weren’t they sued for patent infringement by Achusnet for violating Pro V1’s patent?

Am I the only one who thinks course lakes and ranges are going to have a bump in Kirkland ball inventory?

There is always going to be a market for cheap golf balls, the average weekend hacker loses six or seven balls around cares more about cost than performance, Not to mention there’s still a lot of people that heard all the buzz about the Kirkland bowls based on their first generation and don’t even realize that the ball has changed.

    Hey guys,
I am new to the site and glad to be here!

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been playing for a pretty long time. With increasing responsibilities at work, and just general adulting, my handicap has gone up to a 9. I generally shoot high 70s/low 80s.

What do you love about golf? I love that it affords me the opportunity to spend time outside with friends. I appreciate the camaraderie and competition. My father was a college golfer, and since he has passed away, it has given me the opportunity to feel closer to him in an odd way.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I really enjoy the reviews and finally spent enough time on the site to realize that there were forums.

Where are you from? What is your home course? I am originally from Galveston, Texas where my family has been in residence since prior to the 1900 storm. I currently live in League City which is just south of Houston, basically where NASA is located. I am lucky to play at a number of courses in the area, both public and private. Honestly, I would not know which course to call my home.

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best thing about golf in our region is that we have a lot of it, and we get a lot of warm weather. The downside is that is gets really warm and the humidity is insane.

What do you do for a living? I am a managing consultant for a firm specializing in human resources.

How’d you pick your user name? family initials

Welcome aboard, I’m near 288 and HWY 6, I’m not near as good as you, but maybe we can get together and play sometime
