I have been gaming and enjoying the MG3 TW 56* wedge, so the chance to get the full Tiger spec wedge with the new MG4 face couldn’t be missed. Full Tiger spec includes the S400 shaft he apparently plays (not the same as the standard MG3 was and I think the MG4) and the cord grip he uses. Well it arrived today. Here are a couple of photos showing the difference in finish and coloring compared to the MG3 TW. I threw on a new grip (Golf Pride tour velvet midsize Plus4 with extra wraps of tape) and put it straight in the bag. The MG4 face feels really rough and grippy. It really does rip the ball. First time I used it on course (league night tonight) I played a firm, low punchy chip and the ball ripped and came to a prompt halt on the green. Quicker than I’d expected! It will take take a little getting used to as it does feel different, but I really like how it plays and feels so far. hopefully the diagonal micro grooves/ridges on the face last longer than some reports suggested early on. I also have a new gap wedge (50*) on its way. I ordered the same KBS x-stiff shaft I game in my irons as it’s mostly a full swing club. Looking forward to that arriving! Since the MG4TW Raw 56* arrived I've had it in the bag for 72 holes of golf in 12 days. A couple of damp 9s and a rainy 18 today (charity scramble). I thought I'd provide an update with how the raw finish has changed in that time. This is my first all raw club head, so the process has me curious and paying attention. For comparison, the regular MG4 50* pictured with it arrived last week. Both are after a post-round quick clean up. I'm really liking the patina on the back of the club as it develops. I had the 50* built with a KBS C-Taper Lite X-stiff shaft to match my irons. So much nicer to hit than my old gap wedge! I bought a total of (4) putters from them, and another member here wanted one initially, so I shipped that one to him today after getting them. (3) Scotty Cameron putters, all 35-inch length, but (2) had the heavier weights in them that typically are found in 34-inch models. (2) were new, unused, still in plastic, and the other was used for 4 rounds this year, but still had the plastic on the bottom of the head. (2) are Phantom mallet models, a 7 and a 7.5 head design. The other Cameron is a Champions Choice Newport 2+ Buttonback. The mallets cost me $250.00 each, and the Champions Choice was $300.00. There also was a new, still in the plastic shipping bag Odyssey Jailbird Limited Edition, the original model released after Fowler and Clark were successful with that model last year. That one was $200.00 and was purchased by another member here and is on the way to him at this time. I may just keep the Champions Choice and would consider selling any of them to a member here for what they cost me plus shipping, provided that the member would use them and not try to resell for profit. If no one has any interest initially, I may just post them in the classifieds here at a later date. Pictures of all of them are below. Family obviously knew somewhat the value it seems. Sadly this is a real issue though, your wife cataloging what you told her was paid for certain items vs what they actually cost. A regular playing buddy told me a while back he had helped a family friend go sort and value a golf collection after their father had passed. Apparently the family knew he was a keen golfer and collector but didn't realize quite how much his stuff was worth.lol. I'm sure it's a fairly common thing to have that cavernous gap between what spouses think it's all worth vs reality!lol I've heard of a few absolute bargains being found at local estate sales.
