KC Golf
I am really thinking about a 5W. Not sure yet what loft or what brand, but the MGS testing will help me decide a short list. I used to have Titleist 16.5 deg 4W, but I found it hard to hit. Almost pulled the trigger a few weeks ago, but really want to see if I can easily hit one off the deck or from the rough in real world conditions. Will try to demo something in the next few weeks. Then my brain starts thinking, do I really need to buy another club that might sit in my locker for the Summer! alexchung
I have been thinking about replacing my driver and 3 wood. I know that I don't hit them as well as I should and after my recent bag fitting at Club Champion in Glasgow I know for sure its not optimal, its just trying to justify it and work out what is best to get. Will I get more if I just replace the 3 wood first or just the driver first? The price and availability is good and I know what I need and have been fitted for (Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Max 10.5* with Oban Isawa Red 65g and Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Max 15* 3 wood with Oban Isawa Red 75g both in Stiff) Also as I will have 13 clubs, there is a gap in the bag, the other question is do I go 5 wood or 3 Hybrid....hmmm choices choices. russtopherb
I've got 3 sets of irons right now, 1 graphite shafted (W/S D200) and 2 steel shafted (W/S D7 & Cleveland CBX). I do really feel like at this point, graphite not only feels better for my elbows & wrists, it also just works better for me overall. I like a slightly heavier shaft than what's in my D200s so I'm thinking about moving/trading all 3 sets for a newer GI set with graphites. I'd love to go get fitted, but with 4 more years of college tuition bills, that's probably not the best option for me (although it'd make a great 50th b-day present in another year or so, if any of you have my wife's ear ). If I make a move, I'd rather it be sooner vs. later so I can spend the season playing them vs needing to adjust halfway through. ajstack26
On 3/13/2024 at 10:57 AM, ajstack26 said: I've been eyeing the Taylormade P7MC irons for about about 6 months now. I have wanted to replace my full iron set (3-PW) for a while now but haven't been able to pull the trigger. Back story: I started playing golf about 5 years ago after my baseball career ended. I was good for about 1-2 rounds a month, 6 months a year, and never went to the range or practiced in any capacity. I would typically shoot around 90, but decided to start going to the range 1-2 times a week last summer and after 2 months I was consistently shooting between 75-85. At that point I was still playing the old Callaway Rogue game improvement irons, and was told I needed to get fitted and upgrade my irons to something that will allow me to work the ball a little more. I went and got "fitted" at the PGA Superstore in Southlake, TX last fall, which was not worth the money in my opinion. The fitter kept wanting me to go back to different club heads after we had found the ones that worked best for me (Taylormade P7MC), and never tried out different shafts to go with them. He wasn't really doing anything to actually fit me for the right clubs, he was just asking me what I wanted to try and play around with. I can do that in another bay all by myself without having to pay for it... Needless to say, I left feeling like I didn't get all the information I needed to make that large of a purchase. The only knowledge I left with was that I love that club head, and I swing a 7-iron 97mph on average. I have been eyeing the P7MC irons for 6 months but I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger. I put it off because my wife and I paid for most of our wedding last fall and we've been saving to buy a house. If anybody has any honest reviews of these irons, please let me know. That could definitely help convince me to finally make the decision. Well, an update on this: I finally pulled the trigger. I ordered them from Golf Galaxy after a fitting with the KBS Tour $-Taper 130 XS shafts. I've played 2 rounds with them now, and they are perfect. Upgrading from my Callaway Rogue Game Improvement Irons, I gained a lot more consistency and control while only losing about 5 yards of carry. That's a sacrifice I'm happy to make. The sound, feel, and workability is incredible. As a warning, they are very unforgiving and will lose 10-15 yards of carry if you miss the center of the face. That being said, for any good ball-strikers considering these irons, I would highly recommend them. leichliter_jake
I've been looking into getting some Cleveland wedges. More specifically the RTX-4 in a 56 and 60 degree. I left my old wedge on a par 5 green never to be seen again so I've been using friends playing partners wedges since then. I have really enjoyed any Cleveland wedge I've had in my hands and feel very confident from 50-100 yards out with them compared to any other wedge so far. If anyone has any feedback on these wedges or insight i would love to hear it. I have also looked into Vokeys and Takomo wedges. cksurfdude and RickM71

I had two Cleveland wedges in my bag for years, a Model 588 53° and a Model 691 58º, both of which performed very well for me. I had them matched with a Titleist DCI 962 5-PW iron set and a Mizuno Fli Hi II driving iron. This set of nine irons is one of my three favorite iron sets in several decades of playing golf. The 53° wedge, called for some reason "Diadic" [I never knew what that meant] , fit perfectly between the set matching 48° and the Cleveland 58°. The 58°, for its part, could hit the ball off a paved cart path if it had to, which destroyed my interest in high loft wedges with significant bounce forever. I think Cleveland would do well to bring these two back as a special set. The only reason not to do that, as far as I can see, is because the set matching pitching wedges are stronger than 48° now. If you go with the new model (RTX-4) 56 and 60, you're mostly likely looking at a four wedge lineup. cksurfdude 1 Quote tba

BallsLeon
Speaking of Sub 70, recently traded some clubs in to them and have my eyes on two JB Forged wedges. Wanting to experiment with higher bounce, and dropping the 60. Vokey fitting tool recommended a 54.10S and 58.12D which lines up loft and bounce wise with the JB Forged. Hoping to also have them shafted with Nippon Modus 120s like my irons, debating on going down to reg flex per the Ping and Vokey community call discussions. Rich.pardo
Yes I did talk to them and actually demo'd the driver. I think I'm still struggling to hit it flush like I do the Ping. I like the club and will co tinue to work with it. cksurfdude 1 Quote Richard A Pardo
