PlaidJacket
I just had a sinking feeling about the Kirkland's I ordered. They are a 4pc ball as are the Chrome Speed. I bought a doz. SuperDave
I'll be watching closely for your thoughts on these balls. I'll make a bet that you'll say they are a "very good" ball. I personally can't tell much if any difference these days between top quality balls. The ones I'm talking about are all in comparison to the generic PV1. The so called standard of a top rated ball. I don't buy Titleist PV balls because they are ridiculously priced. Yes, I can afford to buy them all day long if I chose to. But I won't. The following balls IMHO will play as good as or equal to a PV for most players without paying more than necessary. Remember, most golf is played by weekend amateurs of varying degree of skill. I have another question.... can you or someone at MGS tell us what the average Hcp. for all members? I'm going to make a wild guess it's about 15. Aside from playing "rocks", Mojos, or other cheap balls any of the following in no particular order are very good balls for most players. Including a 1 handicapper. None of them cost $48+/dz. Most are $35 or less. One of these balls below will suite you. Chrome Soft Snell Project a MG C4 Duo U Bridgestone E5 NXT Tour-S Kirkland Signature? I'm currently a 23 Handicap. I don't feel I always play like one, but that's what my app says. However, I play a urethane ball and do pretty well with it. I can stick it on the green good. At least when I hit the green. Most people would say I should be using a surlyn cover. Sent from my SM-G920V using MyGolfSpy mobile app Kkaw1988

PlaidJacket
I guess we'll all have to wait till our orders arrive and put them to the test. I did read one reviewer on the Costo site say they were PV like. Sounds good to me. I've heard the PV balls are ok. Anticipation.... Mine could arrive by Friday. I was using a softer ball cause I sliced bad of the tee and they were suppose to go straighter. Didn't help. It was just my outside, inside swing. jjfcpa
Order two dozen from Costco today. I currently play the Snell My Tour Ball (MTB) and find it the best so far. Compared the Snell to Chrome Soft, Pro V1, Bridgestone, Vice, OnCore, and others and it always came out on top. Distance and feel were better. The price for the Snell's when buy 6 dozen is hard to beat - $ 26 each - but the Kirkland is even better than that. I'll compare head-to-head and report back when I get them. gareth2j

Not sure if this has been posted but those of you thinking about ordering this insane deal, you can see on the Kirkland Signature page at Costco: Free Shipping Through 10/21/16 ... I imagine shipping two dozen balls won't be inexpensive, so it might be a good idea to pull the trigger before 10/21 even if it is just 2 dozen to try them out for $29.99 with the free shipping. PlaidJacket
Delivery arrived... I just received my 2dz. Kirkland Signature balls by UPS. Here's my initial observations and thoughts: The balls are very white. Perhaps whiter than most? The Kirkland name and signature logo seem fine to me. Nothing garish. The alignment aid mark on the ball is thin and unobtrusive. However, the ball initially didn't have that faint "sticky/tacky" feel to it like I've noticed with other urethane balls. My first impression was that the ball felt hard. I performed a drop test on hard tile and noticed there is a difference in sound. I was using a PV1 for comparison. The Kirkland has a "harder" sound whereas the PV1 is more muted. The dimple pattern on the Kirkland are quite different from the PV1. The PV1 appears to have each dimple touching one another. The Kirkland does not... in places. There is also I believe a distinct area around the circumference which I suspect is the cover seam. The dimples do not touch at the seam. Both the PV1 and the Kirkland appear to use 3 different dimple sizes in some random type order. Also, the Kirkland Signature ball is made by somebody in Korea. As stated earlier today... I'll tee one up in the morning and report my thoughts tomorrow sometime. PlaidJacket
Plaids first impressions.... Friday evening early I had an opportunity to go practice a while. After warming up a bit I decided to get on the course and play the first 4 holes at my course. It's nice in that these holes make a loop back to the clubhouse. They include a par 5,4,3,4. Needless to say I used the Kirkland Signature ball and played it against a Snell MTB and a PV1. Here are my initial playing impressions... First off this ball is long.I didn't take the time to make any "official" measurements but based on normal good shots I'd estimate I was perhaps 5-8 yards longer with my driver and fairway wood. My irons were longer also by about the same I think. So... this ball is longer than what I normally play including the Chrome-soft, Snell, Duo-U, Project-a, and PV1, etc. I took some time around the greens hitting various chips, pitches, and short approaches from 60 yards in. The ball seemed to perform well with plenty of spin* to hold well. Keep in mind that I am not a high spinner of the ball. Any ball. But for my game and style of play this ball will check nicely and hold well I thought. While on the greens I putted around some and the ball felt good off the putter but more firm than the Snell or PV1 I was matching the ball against. In summary I believe this ball is long-er than others I play regularly but has a slightly firmer feel to it. Honestly, I prefer a slightly softer feel but the Kirkland seems decent. I'll play one today and see if my first impressions hold true. Will it become a gamer? mbrodeur86, hckymeyer, silver & black and 1 other 4 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour

newballcoach
I really hate this thought process. Some people may prefer that softer ball for distance off the tee but really it should be what ever makes you the most confident on the course I'm sometimes a huge cheater and drive a cheaper ball (Nike PD Long or Snell Get Sum) and then will switch to a better ball (like an MTB) if I'm hitting a wedge shot. PlaidJacket
First complete round in the bag with a Kirkland. (what's a Kirkland?) The ball is a keeper for my game. I played decent today (77 w/2 doubles) and hit just about every shot out there. Tee to green, fairways, rough, sand, the ball preformed well. I played the same ball all day and it still looks good and white. All around I thought the ball played like any other premium ball out there. If anything it's a tad firmer than some such as a Chrome Soft, PV1, Duo-U, Project-a, etc. Too be honest I think I'd compare it to a Snell MTB or a MG Tour C4. I'm looking forward to see what a few of you low and + handicappers think. Oh by the way... the guys on the first tee had a lot of jokes to throw at me when I announced I was playing a Kirkland.
