What putter do you keep going back to?

If any of you are anything like me, then you like to collect flatsticks. I don't know what it is about them, but I've gathered a handful over my short golf career.

That being said, there is one that I cannot put down. Or should I say, putt down. I have them lined up along my wall in my man cave, next to a small putting green so I can hit a few whenever I get the urge. I recently picked up a Spider Tour and I am enjoying it, but what I keep going back to is my Ping Sigma G Anser. I don't know what it is, it just feels good. Maybe it's the Flatso 2.0, maybe the blade style, I don't know. I'm trying hard to keep it out of the bag as I love looking at the Spider at the moment, but dang, I always pick it up when I walk by it.

Am I the only one with this issue? Have any of you started to build a small collection, only to go back to your "trust rusty?"

I love putters and used to have a collection.  Got rid of all of them but I will occasionally buy a new one to mess around with for a while,  but I keep going back to the putter that best fits my stroke it is a Taylormade TM-180.    I am really thinking about something custom to fix the few things I don't like about it.

Why do we do it?  It is just the club we like and it has so many design possibilities that make them works of art.

I don't collect putters.  I only have had 5 since I started playing golf.  I recently purchased a Ping Sigma G Doon, and the way I have been putting so far, I don't see it ever leaving the bag.

My all time old reliable is the Ping Zing 2 that I have owned for at least 25 years now. That is the one I did the thread "An Old Ping Putter" story on. Now I collect vintage putters and have around 100 or so and I rotate them out during vintage play. Now when I have been having putting troubles that I described in other threads I kept switching. Now the old Zing has lost it's magic but about 2 years ago I found that rusty Santa Fe. It is rusty and looks like crap lead tape and all but I can putt with it. If something was to happen to it my number 1 back up is a TM Rosa Daytona that one of the assistants and I caught fishing one day over on our 13th hole. It actually cleaned up well and I had to put a new shaft in it etc. In fact I was gaming it front line until I found the Santa Fe on the scrap pile at work.

Callaway Tuttle. I'm still putting with it at least once a week. I even have a spare one. I love that putter.

I have a buddy of mine that is a fanatic over that putter not that he putts that well with it or any other putter for that matter but his last name is Tuttle. Heard him try to BS some young guys one day that the Cally factory designed his for him and that his grandfather designed it overall. 180* from the truth. It was hard to keep a straight face of course he is a used car salesman too if you know what I mean

I've got a Bobby Grace Amazing Grace that never gets out of the trunk. I lost the original with the red insert years ago so this is a current model. Even it is not quite the same. Maybe I putted better with the old one because I wasn't 48 years old at the time?

I had the same putter for 11 years and unless something truly dramatic were to occur in putter technology or my current putter gets damaged in some way I would imagine that I will have the same putter the rest of my life.

Good putting has to do with better ball striking, chipping and some practice putting. Just make sure the putter you have fits and worry about investing in wedges that work for you. Tweak the driver and wedges, get fit for a (1) putter, practice with it some and you will be amazed at how good a putter you become.

That was my plan with the Ping, but then I have a problem with liking new, shiny things But, that's probably why I keep going back to it. I think I'll throw it back in the bag this weekend.

I collect for a while, but go through a purge phase from time to time where the herd gets thinned.  I don't think I have any "safe" putter that will never get sold, but I have a scotty studio stainless I had refinished through Putter Lounge a few years back that has been around for a while.

I don't necessarily collect them, but I have tried many of them out.  I've tried all different makes and models, but the one I keep going back to is the SeeMore FGP. I just feel like I get a better roll and better feel from that putter over any other.  I've also tried about 7-8 different SeeMore's and none of them roll quite like that one.  It's been in my back for probably 6-7 years now, and I don't see it going anywhere any time soon.

In my bag:

Callaway Epic Subzero with Aldila Rogue Max 75 Stiff shaft

Callaway Rogue Subzero with Project X Evenflow 6.0 75g stiff shaft

Callaway Rogue 3 Hybrid with Aldila Synergy 60 HYB stiff shaft

Callaway Apex irons (4-PW) with True Temper XP 95 stiff shafts

Callaway MD3 wedges (50/54/58)

SeeMore Original FGP

Bridgestone Tour B RX

I don't collect putters. But like Stu I putted for probably 20 years with a Zing 2 and then one day it went stone cold me. I kept playing it hoping the magic would return. But it didn't. I bought a few putters for a while searching for one that was "right". I finally settled on a Oydessy #9 I purchased at Academy for $39 and played it for several years and was very successful with it. I'm now playing an over priced Edel and putt good with it too. I never have gone back to a dead putter but if I did it'd be the #9.

I played a Zing 2 for about a decade (yes I used one putter for 10 years and now I am reformed) and still have one on the putting green in my office.  I can't seem to get away from my Scotty Dual Balance.  It was in the bag all of last year from the day that I bought it and is now back in the bag again.  Something about a heavy blade that I just can't shake.  I also have a Scotty Select Newport that just seems to fit my eye as well.  I think that was a Disney purchase but the details on that one are hazy.

For me its my Ping Craze G2i with the Black insert instead of the blue. I got the putter from Kenny Perry's caddy at an event years ago when he broke his putter and was looking for a replacement. something about that putter I just love but I love my Buttonback more so it spends most of the time in the bag.
