There is really no way a post like this should ever need to be written!!!   I think we need a 'best excuses' thread that will be a resource for us to use when our mind is understandably blank after such a golfing experience.  In time you can just reference the excuse number you prefer for that day and we'll all know what you're talking about.  😆

No need to defend yourself, it happens to every single one of us.  We all have bad shots, bad holes, bad rounds.  What seems funny to me is if I start with 3 doubles and a triple and shoot 83 or something, I'm happy at my recovery.  If I start with 12 pars and 2 bogeys, and finish with those same 3 doubles and a triple, I'm mad because I collapsed.  But really, our "failures" are kind of random, both of those rounds I described had 14 pretty dang good holes, and 4 bad ones.  So remember the 14 good holes, and next time out try to have 15 or 16.

Last month, I was playing a tournament, in the group with the guy that eventually won ( I was 2nd). He was two up on the 17th tee. He pulled his drive into trouble. I can see the win. I topped my drive, something I seldom do, about 100yards off the tee box. I mishit my fairway, short and pushed. He finally emerges to land on the green on his 4th. I chunk my pitch, chip up and one putt. He 2 putts. Im one down.

18, he hits an average drive. I pull jerk my drive into trees with no recovery option. Long story short, I double and he bogeys. I lose by two on a hole I almost always par.

GOLF!

We still have to hit the shots.

It's funny how much my attitude can change from day to day.  Some days I shoot 5 over my average and have a great time and some days I shoot 5 under my average and think about the shots I would like to have back.  When the bad play occurs also makes a difference.  One time I 4 putted the first green for a double, got really angry and shot even par the rest of the way and was proud and happy.  If I had been even par going into 18 and made double, I probably would have been pretty irritated even though it would have still been a great round.
