TylorJudd
If definitely sounds like something to try. That is a lot of members who have ried one it seems and the results appear to be in the right direction. The greens around here are always fast so making a lighter putter would help some and reducing the twist in the face on off the toe and heel strikes is interesting. I can see how that can alter a stroke on a toe balanced putter. That Accra shaft looks like a big upgrade for not so big money. Are the others the real deal for their price point? GolfSpy TCB
On 11/22/2022 at 7:43 AM, cnosil said: putter shafts have been a hot topic fairly recently. If you really dig into putters, you will find that there have been putter shaft “upgrades” for a while. Tiger used a head speed shaft in his putters and when they stopped making them True Temper made the YSC shaft which is a softer tipped steel shaft specifically for Cameron. TP Mills was famous for the pencil shaft in his putters. UST then created the Frequency Filtered shaft. Since then manufacturers have created various shafts to better handle the heavier head trend such at the KBS CT putter shaft and the one step. Graphite also has started to come to putters. The odyssey stroke lab which was used to move weight out of the shaft and into the head and grip. BGT and their stability shafts kind of started the big buzz with graphite shafts and all the manufacturers seem to be following suit: LA Golf, PXG, Accra, MMT, Fujikura, etc. have a shaft in the market. UST is releasing a shaft this year that will be offered in more affordable Cleveland putters for minimal upgrade cost and the shaft is rumored to be on the $100 range if purchased aftermarket. There are limitations in tip sizes, shaft bends, and over the hosel configurations unless the shaft leverages a steel tip or is specifically reinforced like the LA Golf SOHO design. The putter well in my bag seems to be a revolving door...I had just recently put the SC Jet Set back in the bag... and had a few marginal outings with it... after a particularly good session on my home practice green (Birdie ball), I put the 2Ball Ten with counter weighted stroke lab shaft back in the bag for my last two rounds. Shot 67/74 - 6 Birdies over the two rounds - but more telling were some of the par putt saves. I plan to give the putter proper respect by doing a full featured putter and shaft fitting before the start of next season - after all - it is the club in my hands the most over the course of a round... and also the only club I haven't been properly fitted for. I always considered myself a "blade preferred" putter. But I have really 4 in my rotation right now... two mallets and two blades. Some days my stroke is magic with each of them... other days... well... not so much. Most of my time over the past year has been with the Scotty Newport 2.5. I really love the slant neck... which is why I tried the 2 Ball Ten, and it sets up nice and square for me usually. I also have the Jet Set Newport 2 and most recently the LAB DF 2.1. Which I really, really like, but haven't committed to it for longer than a round or two. gavinski91
Did a bag analysis at Modern Golf in Vancouver last week. Didn't make any changes, but enjoyed having the opportunity to go through my full bag with someone and get their perspectives and thoughts on my equipment, my swing, and how it all fits together. The one thing that my fitter recommended is that the next upgrade I make is to a new iron set. Just for fun, at the end of the fitting he threw me into a Mizuno MP 223 7-iron with a Modus 105X shaft, which he figured would be a good fit for me. (definitely a nice ego boost to have a fitter tell you they think you should be in a players cavity iron with an x-stiff shaft!) It was a few degrees flatter than my current 7-iron, with 5 degrees less loft, but it was really nice to hit and I was really impressed with the results. I don't think there's any way I can convince my wife to let me buy a new set of irons next year, but maybe in 2024... edingc, ejgaudette, DMcA and 2 others 5 Quote Driver - Radspeed XB, Aldila Rogue Silver 70-S 3 Wood - Radspeed, Aldila Rogue Silver 70-S 5 Wood - Radspeed, Fujikura Motore X F3 6-S 7 Wood - 0341x Gen 4, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue 75-S Irons - Pro 225 4-5, 223 6-PW, KBS $-Taper 120 Wedges - King Cobra Snakebite 52° & 58°, KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 S Putter - Stroke Lab Black Ten 35" Ball - Chrome Soft X LS Powered by 2020 ExPutt Official Review | 2021 Cobra Connect Five Participant | 2023 SuperSpeed Official Review

Significant ball speed increasw there I think it's a combination of a few factors. My Radspeed irons (the red pattern) definitely have hotter faces and lower lofts, so I think that accounts for the ball speed loss. I think the different shaft impacted the dynamic loft more than anything else, given that the Mizuno has 5° more static loft, but only delivered 2° more dynamic loft. The lie angle probably accounts for the more left-biased dispersion on the Mizuno, but I also feel like that's something that can be fixed without too much trouble. juspoole
I finally got around to doing a quick hit on the TSR2. I was in Charleston for work and had a little time open so went into an Edwin Watts. This was a smaller shop and with me being Lefty they didn't have all of the shaft options I would have liked, but take what you can get. It was the TSR2 with a stiff Tensei 1k black shaft at 60g (I think). Overall the club felt really solid and easy to hit. I definitely noticed more consistent ball speed on mishits as well as higher ball speed when I didn't feel like I was swinging that fast. I think this is still a contender but I'd need to get properly fit with the right shaft. My spin remained high on every hit and averaged about 3600. However with the said besides a few warm up balls to get timing that were hooked. The rest would have found the fairway or been very close. Distance was mediocre because of all that spin. Average around 262 carry and 280 totals. Long was 275 carry and 292. Again that's not beating my current Mavrik sub zero, but the consistency could be enough to make the switch, which is more important for me. edingc and cksurfdude 2 Quote Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 9* (Set to 10) Ventus Blue 6X 2 Hybrid: TSI3 Hybrid Tensei Blue 80 X (17.25*) 3 Hybrid 818 H2 Hybrid Hzrdus RDX Black 6.5 (20.5*) 4 Iron - T200 4 Iron Graphite Design Tour AD IZ X Hybrid Shaft Irons 5-PW: T100-S 5 - GW KBS Tour 130 X Gap/Sand Wedge: Vokey SM6 49* SM8 54* Lob Wedge: Jaws 5 Wedge 58* DG Tour Issue Stiff Putter: Phantom 5.5 34" Pro Platinum Newport 2 35" Taylormade Tour Black Spider 34"

TitleistMike
I bought new irons in Aug Sep of 22 so I tested several including 4h. The experiment I am working through now is I brought out my old 70s era musclebacks, put new KBS Tour shafts on and those are my current 9 iron out to 56deg. My old 7 iron had the same loft as current 9i @38deg Old 7 38deg = new 9 150yd Old 8 42deg = new PW 140yd Old 9 46deg = new gap 130yd Old W 52deg = new lob 110yd Old SI 56deg = Sand Iron - maybe 4deg bounce...less than 90 An 85% swing gives sweet results. Consistent distance and I can work the ball a little bit like the good old days. To keep my head screwed on straight I had to buy iron headcovers to help me pull the right club without a decoding ring. There is a ton of sentiment in the irons. Graduation gift from dad, stolen in 80s and took me 15 years to track down a set on ebay. Got lucky and a set of unused heads, never shafted was on UK ebay. I explained to a friend....I would rather shoot 90 with these old irons than 80 with all new gear.... for a little while. biggolfguy1990
Just tested/ got my new artisan wedges. Unreal. Expensive but being able to customize everything was cool. Tried the new Stealth 2 via a friend. Meh. No difference between the first one, just more gloss. Can't wait to try the paradym though. Heard good things. cksurfdude
flaridaMarlin
I've been using the Sun Mountain 2.5 golf bag for the past few months and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. It's lightweight, easy to carry and has a sleek design that makes it stand out on the course. The straps are comfortable and well-padded, which makes it easy to carry even when it's fully loaded with clubs and accessories. One of the things I love most about this bag is the ample storage space it provides. It has multiple pockets that are perfect for keeping all my golfing essentials organized. I no longer have to fumble around looking for a tee or a ball, everything is right there in its designated pocket. The stand system is reliable and keeps the bag upright when not being carried, it is also very easy to access the clubs, which saves a lot of time when you are on the course. Overall, I highly recommend the Sun Mountain 2.5 golf bag to any golfer looking for a high-quality and functional bag. It is durable and well-designed, and it has made my golfing experience much more enjoyable. I've received many compliments on the bag from my golfing buddies, and I'm very proud of my purchase. RobertSmith
2021 COBRA X VESSEL - LE Radspeed Tour Staff Bag I love this bag. It's one that has padded straps and a comfortable carry handle. Loving using the stand and multiple pockets. But most impressive to me when I bought it last month was a built-in fridge compartment (I usually get some drinks and snacks). Despite these features, it is light, so I am completely satisfied with this treasure. cksurfdude and GolfSpy_APH
GolfSpy_APH
Thinking about another cheaper used iron set for just home and net practice. I know it is always better to practice with gamers, but sometimes it's nice to have another set at home and not have to drag clubs back and forth. The irons would be Mizuno mp25 which are some of my all time favorites. Slightly heavier shaft, but think it would be worth testing out a secondary home set. Depending on what you want to work on why not just buy a single iron that matches your set? Maybe just get a 6 iron? Thanks for sharing this, I'm (maybe) in the market for a bag myself and Sun Mountain is certainly on the radar.
