PING Driver Afficionado's

For those of you who find PING drivers, more often than not, the best fit for you, what comes in second place?  I'm still playing the G410P I was tested back in 2018 and have not looked at or tested any other drivers since.  Moreover, I had only recently moved up from a GBB to a Callaway Razr-Fit just prior to getting selected to test the G410P.  Now with the new irons in place, I'll be keeping a lookout for all the demo days this winter season, and testing out some drivers.

For good reason, I know PING's big sticks are loved by lots of players, but I'd like to hear from others as to what they've recently tested and whether any have benched their PING for another OEM and why?  Was is for more distance, forgiveness, both?

After last years testing the clubs that would potentially replace my G400 Max were the Callaway MAX, Callaway Triple Diamond, Cleveland XL Lite.  These were the ones that I kept coming back and trying again because of launch, accuracy, ball speed, and just how nice they felt in the swing.   Obviously, shaft drives that a little.

I’m on my second Ping driver. I traded a Ping G30 for G400 Max. Before that I used to game TaylorMade. The last TM driver I had was the original RBZ but I didn’t get along with it and traded it in for the G30. The best TM driver I ever had though was the R5 Dual Type D. My TM driver history: Burner Plus, SuperSteel, 300 series, R5 Dual, RBZ. Somewhere in there I flirted with a Spalding TopFlite Thunder Heat Driver.

I went from PING to Srixon (Z785 in my case).  Part aesthetics (turbulators are kind of 'love em or hate em), part spin characteristics and part economics.  Must admit that, if I had the cash at the time I may have gone for the TSi3 (and now TSR3).

Brief version, to be updated later

Driver - Srixon Z785 with Miyazaki Mahana  5 Stiff

3 Wood - Ping G425

Hybrid / Driving Iron (they swap, regularly!) -  Ping G425 3H 19 degrees /Ping G410 Crossover 3 iron 20 degrees

Irons (4-PW) - Ping i210

Wedges - TaylorMade MG3  - 50, 54, 58

Putter  - Scotty Cameron Phantom X7 or Newport 2 Studio Select (with custom R/W/B infill) when I am feeling retro and can steal it back from my son

Shoes  - Nike Jordan 1G (only listed because my boy says it will make me look cooler)

I gamed a G10 for many years and then upgraded to a G410 Plus.  I used that for a couple years and about a year ago was chosen to test the Sub70 849.  The 849 played about identical to the G410 for me, no loss in distance or dispersion.  I knew I would get more interest in selling the G410 so I kept the 849 in the bag.

I'm new to the Ping game as I just got a G425 LST, but if I were to switch it would probably be to the Titleist line.  The reason being some additional distance at the cost of some forgiveness.  Ping is no the longest typically, but the increased accuracy and forgiveness is more important for me at the moment.  As my swing consistency improves I may make that switch.

Driver:  Ping 425LST 9*  (Aldila Rouge White 130)

3 Wood: Sub70 Pro (13) (HZRDS Black 60)

Putter: Some old green Nike Blade

G410Lst was my gamer for 2 seasons: it was a vast improvement over my GBB epic. Ping just makes a forgiving driver, period. The cobra LTDx LS is longer and straighter for me (although I attribute this mostly to finding a shaft I load and unload better than the one in my old ping) Clearly those of us willing to game a Ping driver value performance over looks, but the cobra is an improvement over the ping in that regard. Based purely on looks and sound, I’d game a TSI3 or the TSR3.

3 Wood - Ping g410 LST

2iron - Titleist U505

There are so many good drivers out there.

I had Ping G400 G30 and i25. All were fantastic. I've been on a Callaway train since and really enjoy their drivers. However I do have a new one on route and will add had a lot of success with Cobra drivers as well.

I would be interested in doing a member poll like what mgs brand word poll but just for members to see what's in their bags and so on.

I still have a G20 and a 410SFT in my garage in Ohio. I don't think you can beat them for sound. But sadly, while the SIM 2 Max D doesn't sound as good when you hit it off the screws, the SIM 2 gets me more distance and a tighter dispersion.
