I know 2 of the holes they mention going from the yellows, and I like the advantage it gives on those holes. There are 5 holes you move up to the yellow for, 3 of which are par 5's. I think it'll be a nice change and will get the yardage more inline with the other courses, plus I'll be interested to see how/if my scoring changes for that course, which tends to be the most challenging of the 5. Plus there is the added advantage that you will most likely have a lot more fun. I have a friend who when he turned 80 said "I am not playing the long courses any longer. It is too much work and not enough fun." So now he plays the exec. courses and when we play together he smiles a lot more! It’s first choice for me was LA Golf, a 95.9% match. I’m not about to $70 for a dozen. The second choice is the Bridgestone Tour B X, a 94.4%. The Pro V1 as a 90% match. I have to ask, how much do you think the ball will change your game? I saw an add not long ago about a ball giving you 3 more yards, with exclamation points. Huh! 3 more yards? Nine feet on your best shot? I don't know about you but 9 extra feet on a good drive warrants a "who gives a ***t" . I would suggest finding a ball instead that feels good off the face and you can work around the green, but that is cheap enough not to make you cringe every time one sails into the pond. Popular Post EnderinAZ
Good morning spies! Hmmm looks like I am posting 3 in a row. Kind of silly not to edit one. Running the Wild Bunch today and some of the winter people are returning from their cooler weather abodes. We have had over 20 players the last few rounds. They will (or won't) enjoy what I have planned for today. 3 player teams. Scoring is net scores (out of those 20 at least 12 are a 10 or less handicap) We will play cha cha cha today. Score 1 net on hole 1. Score 2 net scores on hole 2, and 3 net scores on hole 3. Then repeat the pattern until the round is complete. This changes where you might get a break and only need to score one player, or where you have to be tough and score 3 well. I also wouldn’t discount the MGS findings regarding the Kirkland ball or any other poorly made ball. My reading of the 2023 MGS ball test is that there are really no poorly made balls on the market, at least among those they tested. Some are fractionally better than others, and some are targeted for different segments of the golfing public, but there aren't any really bad balls. Now in tournaments I have been playing the Srixon Marathons simply because in the past I had won so many in the Shootouts and Nine and Dines. I am down to my last dozen of them. Popular Post BIG STU
Thanks to everyone on my HIO congrats. It was a long time coming. One of my lifelong friends said I had used all of my luck on the Par3 courses Today ended up great. Went out to my course and found out the CPO was lifted. It was not really crowded. I ended up playing a practice 9 with like 3 balls doing different shots. I did ok not playing for a week. I am in the league for tomorrow. I had withdrawn from our Monthly event for next week may try to get back in. If not I will play the small money spin off game Mon, Wed and Fri as long as things do not happen and it is not CPO. Which is not to say that the shoulder was totally pain free, either. I turned on the radar while I was swinging the Rypstick, which I have never done before; I previously just turned it on for the swing test at the end and use the driver for that. Never got above 80 mph swinging right handed, even with the lightest setting; never got above 70 swinging lefty. But considering my all-out driver speed 2.5 years ago was 72, that's not bad for lefty. Yesterday did end up on the golf course for 9 holes with a 6pm tee time and the season is beginning to show its passing with sun setting finishing the round, 3rd day of golf in a row seemed to show on the scorecard but still it was a good round and good time with friends.
