I would suggest finding a ball instead that feels good off the face and you can work around the green, but that is cheap enough not to make you cringe every time one sails into the pond.

Good morning spies! Hmmm looks like I am posting 3 in a row. Kind of silly not to edit one.

Running the Wild Bunch today and some of the winter people are returning from their cooler weather abodes. We have had over 20 players the last few rounds. They will (or won't) enjoy what I have planned for today. 

3 player teams.

Scoring is net scores (out of those 20 at least 12 are a 10 or less handicap)

We will play cha cha cha today. Score 1 net on hole 1. Score 2 net scores on hole 2, and 3 net scores on hole 3. Then repeat the pattern until the round is complete.  

This changes where you might get a break and only need to score one player, or where you have to be tough and score 3 well.

Truthfully, I will put more to my lesson improving my swing over any big difference due to the ball. I also wouldn’t discount the MGS findings regarding the Kirkland ball or any other poorly made ball. I’m going to try the Oncore ball during my next time out and see how it performs with my swing improvements. I don’t realistically see spending more than $50 a dozen on balls but these Pro Vs were a gift. I also don’t want to go to low cost for balls that are not manufactured well.

My reading of the 2023 MGS ball test is that there are really no poorly made balls on the market, at least among those they tested. Some are fractionally better than others, and some are targeted for different segments of the golfing public, but there aren't any really bad balls.

@BIG STU congratulations on the hole in one! 

I was talking to one of the team leads from second shift today who works at a golf course about twenty miles north of here and found out they're holding the U.S. Senior Amateur at the Honors Course next weekend. I might be making plans to go since 1. I've never watched a live golf tournament and 2. I just really, really want to see the course.

I used to be a ProV snob then it was a Srixon snob. Lately I have started doing like the rest of the retirees playing the OP brand like in other people's I have found. Now in tournaments I have been playing the Srixon Marathons simply because in the past I had won so many in the Shootouts and Nine and Dines. I am down to my last dozen of them. In regular league play I have played some of everything. I did buy a Dozen TM Distance the other day in a greenish yellow. I had hit the white version of the ball and like it. My wife works part time at Wally World and got me a dozen with her discount for $15.99. I figured WTH. Due to my anti hook swing I can spin most any ball including range rocks so spin is not an issue

Thanks to everyone on my HIO congrats. It was a long time coming. One of my lifelong friends said I had used all of my luck on the Par3 courses

Today ended up great. Went out to my course and found out the CPO was lifted. It was not really crowded. I ended up playing a practice 9 with like 3 balls doing different shots. I did ok not playing for a week. I am in the league for tomorrow. I had withdrawn from our Monthly event for next week may try to get back in. If not I will play the small money spin off game Mon, Wed and Fri as long as things do not happen and it is not CPO. I hit it good enough today I feel I may be ok as far as the game goes

Around here Srixon Marathons are the most common species of range rocks. I have seen them reviewed/dismissed as "one step above a range ball", so maybe they have descended that step. Two-piece distance ball, kinda like the old Callaway Warbird or Titleist Velocity.

The range rock ones are different from the retail ones. I sensed that and asked our rep about that and he said there was a difference. I made my HIO with one. It hit about 1 foot from the cup and spun right and went in

Morning all on a nice sunny start to the day here. Managed to get out for a round yesterday and didn’t play too bad. Used the Me and My Golf glove again so will update the thread. 
Back to a duty day today but I’m at court for a case so hopefully will be a pretty relaxed day.

Just be careful with that thing. Along with my back deal I also broke my right scapula in the same accident. I got into the speed training thing when I lost so much distance. I ended up messing myself back up doing speed training with my Skilz Ball training thing. For me I had to learn to accept that I would lose speed and distance.

Good Morning. As with SOP for me up early. Going to play the league today. I have my routine on playing days. Take a hot shower then do stretching exercises. I will stop by Kroger and eat my usual playing breakfast of Yogurt, fruit and nuts. When I get to the course I will work out with the Skilz ball trainer and stretch some before. I have my routine that helps me play pain and injury free

Slugging down some coffee and catching up on some threads before heading out to the weekly "geezer gathering" and trash talking session. Going to be a hot one today so will have to stay well hydrated.

Good morning MGSpies on a community call Thursday from the already functioning EP operations bunker  on this zero-commute workday with coffee making the day just right and laundry in the washer, feeling all kinds of productive.  Yesterday did end up on the golf course for 9 holes with a 6pm tee time and the season is beginning to show its passing with sun setting finishing the round, 3rd day of golf in a row seemed to show on the scorecard but still it was a good round and good time with friends. 

Great to see my friend @BIG STU holing out from the tee box which reminds me I have not put this up for a long while now

Today will be the first session of the second HOPE program at Niagara Frontier CC so HOPE volunteering will be Tuesdays and Thursdays for this and the next 5 weeks.  Also will be looking forward to the community call  on my way there, hope to hear many MGSpies on as I will not be watching the screen don'tcha know  Hope golf is a part of your day!

Good morning Spies on a Community Call Thursday from a sunny Michigan.

Playing a round with some retired Amry friends at a local course in a few hours, so should be back in time for the call.

I used to play in a league with these guys previously, the league folded, and now they told me they get a round in each Thursday with as many as want to play.

May be a new Thursday routine going forward?

Good morning MGS!

Not too much happening today SWMBO is back to work today at the school and less than happy her summer is over lol. Probably take her out tomorrow night in celebration for rouging it through the first 2 days. Thinking about hitting Golf Galaxy tomorrow for the free Apex fitting event as it will be the big 20th this year for my wife and I and maybe I try and swing a new set of sticks. if after October 9th you don't hear from me any longer you'll know how it went.
