Those are some sexy sticks!

And not to hijack the thread, but the Staff Model blades are even sexier.

Working at getting better ... and very slowly getting there.

I knew even before I clicked the link that John was going to be the author 😆

I still feel like the previous iterations looked better, but that's more personal preference. These are very clean and I'm betting based on past reviews, will both feel and perform very well. Solid release from W/S.

I agree. I caught my jaw being open when I first opened the article for the Staff Model blades, but they have done a great job with these also! I'm impressed.

I have played Wilson irons since the original fat shafts came out way back when. I probably have five sets from different model years around. My three children have Wilsons in their bag. (All hand me downs from me of course). I sure wouldn't mind having a set of these in my bag.

Yeah,  Wilson's approach this year with the dynapower lineup has been impressive.

WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter.

Just an old newbie golfer, trying to learn and improve 1 club at a time.

I didn't like these as much as previous iterations when I saw leaked photos, but they are growing on me, a lot.  Wilson got the looks right with all three releases this year.  I wish they would have continued with the new shield for continuity sake; but that doesn't matter.  Cannot wait to see these in person!

What beauties!!😍

I fully agree with the author! I have a set of the WilsonSteel D9 irons and haven't played enough to warrant an unofficial review, (which will be coming), but all I can say is they will for sure complicate things for you!

They deliver everything you want in a set of irons, more forgiveness, more distance, more height, straighter shots.. and I am 💯 sure these will be no different!

I'm not sure what Wilson Staff are drinking, but whatever they are, I want some😆, cause whatever they release are fire nowadays.

Try them for sure.. they WILL impress you!

I not only knew that as well, I also knew he was going to love them!  Not because he's a Wilson homer...well maybe a little bit...ha   But because I hit them a month ago and I couldn't stop hitting them, even when the rep needed to leave.  They felt so good and just flat out performed.

I respect everyone's thoughts.  But I honestly don't see how some are saying they are no different than the D9 Forged. I don't think they have hit them to say that.   I had the D9 Forged for a couple months and they were nice, but no where near the performance of these.

Those are eye catching, I bet they perform very well also!

I would love to have my Dyna power irons from the late 70's early 80's back, they were hand me downs but awfully smooth!

And in a world where the category mainstays are running anywhere from $1,200 to $1,400 per set, the Wilson Dynapower Forged irons represent a relative bargain at $999.99 for a 5-GW set. That price tag is also $100 less than the D9 Forged were when they were released two years ago.

What does that mean? Maybe nothing, or maybe something strategic. In its press release, Wilson says presale, which starts today, will be on the Wilson Golf website only. Retail availability, according to Wilson, will be at “select” locations only.

Maybe it means something. Maybe it doesn’t. As I said: complicated.

No comments on this yet. Am I getting a whiff of something here? Does he know something he isn't letting on, or just speculating? Does it smell like DTC or something? What could it be?

Looking at Golf Galaxy's website, I see Wilson DYNAPWR are $800-900 and it says 2024 with a Golf Digest 2024 Hot List badge, but it's showing a photo of a different club (non-forged version?). D9 Forged are $1050. Staff Model CB are $1150.

They look awesome and being a Wilson fanboy I feel a call to return to my roots!!!

My first real set back in the mid 70's was a set of Staff Dynapower.  I bought them off the asst pro at the course i worked at.  I loved those sticks and was thrilled to find a set a few years ago.

These irons look fantastic! I'm hoping we get a chance to do a MGS review on these as I'm definitely interested in trying these out. All of the Wilson Staff releases this year are top notch so far.

Mixed bag of goodies: Taylormade M2 driver, Titleist F15 3 wood, Nike 5 wood, Mizuno 923 Hmp irons, Cleveland zipcore wedges and Odyssey 3 ball putter.

I attended a Wilson demo day yesterday at my nearby PGA SS, mostly because of this specific article earlier this week just to see these in person and try them out, but also find out more about their new AI fit system ( just posted a thread about it, check it out if you're interested ) !

I'll start by saying the author John is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT about trying these out with extreme caution.  They absolutely will make you rethink what you're playing.

I was not a fan of the Dynapower line when first introduced, even though I am a big Wilson fan.  I still game 2 C300 hybrids, and have played numerous other Wilson golf products over the years.  I liked the D9 forged so much, I really tried to make them work, but alas, I'm not a good enough ball striker to have pulled the trigger.

These Dynapower forged were absolutely incredible when properly set up.  Forgiveness and distance were massively improved over the D9's in my opinion.  Particularly love the power hole explosiveness feel.  These player distance irons were better than my GI Stealth iron, at least on this particular day.  Maybe not by a huge amount, but enough to warrant consideration.   Which honestly, is difficult for me to say because the Stealth irons are so damn forgiving, and have treated many of my shots much better than I deserved, and I really don't want to invest in new irons right now.  Have to spend my funds elsewhere, lol !

We've all been warned, so take heed.   I kinda wish I had, because I am having a hard time not thinking about how pure they felt and performed.

I cannot stop looking at these. First ever set of clubs was a garage sale find of very old Wilson blades (why my dad thought it was a good idea for a 12 year old I’ll never know but they were nice to look at). Now Wilson might have a spot in my bag again.

I'll start by saying the author John is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT about trying these out with extreme caution.  They absolutely will make you rethink what you're playing.

We've all been warned, so take heed.   I kinda wish I had, because I am having a hard time not thinking about how pure they felt and performed.

This is what I'm getting out of John Barba's article and everybody else's comments-

They're calling you! 🎶 I love it, haha.

I'm on an image editing streak lately.

It will be fun to see how all these do in the MGS 2024 iron roundups tests/articles! They do look damn good. wilson-staff-model-dynapwrforged-transparent.png.291c24cea9d6f0a82b87cc4bdaa29f7c.png

I just visited Wilson's golf site and saw their wedges are mostly out of stock. There is only one wedge there, Staff Model HT 56 degrees (right hand only, but I'm not sure they had left handed ever). Hmmm 🤔  Will they have something new for wedges coming soon too?

Ahaaaa, called it!

WILSON STAFF MODEL ZM WEDGES https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/wilson-staff-model-zm-wedges/

Quote

“This is a ground-up revamp for us,” says Harry Nodwell, Wilson’s Pro Performance Equipment Manager. “We’ve completely scrapped our old wedges. This new line is saying you have to take us seriously in the wedge business.”

Looks like they have lefties in 52, 56, and 60 degree.
