Nunfa0 Posted March 12 Share Posted March 12 To give a little more context to my game, I thought I would share the distances I use each of my irons from. I used to use Arccos to give very accurate distances, but my sensors are dying, and they are expensive here in NZ!! My current irons are Titleist T100S 5-48 degree with a T200 4 iron. The shafts are AMT White S300. The distances are yards with metres in brackets. I use a Precision Pro NX7 Pro rangefinder for my distances. 4 iron 185 (170) 5 iron 174 (160) 6 iron 164 (150) 7 iron 153 (140) 8 iron 142 (130) 9 iron 131 (120) PW 120 (110) Now all of these are condition dependant, wind, temperature, hard ground etc but generally if I see that distance, I hit that club. In my Titleist's I have True Temper AMT Tour White S300 shafts. These are very good shafts that seem to work well for the T100S. They increase in weight as the clubs get shorter, from 106 grams in 4 irons to 130 in the wedges. They also have a low launch and low spin profile. Now while this works at the moment I have decided to try something different in the Haywood's. After getting my answers from the virtual fitting, Joshua had two suggestions for the shafts. Either the Dynamic Gold 120 or the 105. The 120 is close to the AMT's with low launch and spin. They also have a consistent weight of 118 grams. For these irons I decided to go back to a lighter shaft, medium launch and medium spin profile with the True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 shafts. These shafts all weigh the same, 103 grams, and being that light should give me a little more speed. I have used light shafts before but if they don't work, I have another trick up my sleeve. I have a set of Nippon Pro Modus3 115 shafts that could make an appearance if I have gone in the wrong direction, but I have a really good feeling about these... I have decided to invest in a Launch Monitor so that I can really dig down into the numbers for this test. I have ordered a Garmin Approach R10, because it gives me the best combination of features, value and portability that I can get in NZ. Not only does it give ball speed, club head speed, distance and smash factor but it also gives spin rates and records video to show my "ahem" glorious swing!!
