So I asked him if this also suggests the look of the next version of the whole 699 Pro iron set, which he confirmed, posting this picture of the PW from the new line: For those who don't follow Sub70's lines of irons, the 699 Pros are their entry into the hollow body "player's distance" iron, in the vein of the TaylorMade P790. I was able to test the OG line of the 699 Pros for an MGS Forum review, and I loved them. In honesty, though, I didn't love their V2 release; I can't say anything about their performance, not having hit them, but the badge on the back cluttered what had been a really clean look: So I have to say: I'm pretty excited to see them return to the uncluttered look of the first generation, and the sharper angles are a nice update. I might need to make a drive to Sycamore next spring to see about my next set of Sub70 irons. Happy to see - agree that the V2 missed the mark looks-wise, though I didn't HATE them, I just never really wanted to demo one. I could be wrong, but I'm 99% sure V1 was a blank that they sourced, and then V2 (and presumably V3) are their own proprietary design language, and I REALLY love the move to V3. When I was in the market last year for some irons I couldn’t get over the look of the V2 irons so I went with the v1. I still really like the V1 but can’t wait to see the v3s! Now just need the new driver to come out sirchunksalot, Shrek74, jbern and 5 others 8 Quote I have a cobra rad speed driver, cobra fly z 3 and 5 wood, taylormade m1 irons (5-PW), Top Flite Gamer wedges (52,56,60), and odyssey white ice putter. When I’m playing to keep score I typically play the Maxfli Tour X. The busier design of the v2 helped dispel the questions blanks. I like that the v2 has less offset and smaller blade length. I hope they keep the smaller blade length and reduce the offset even more for the pro v3. I really like the new design and will be tempted to update my utility iron when they come out. Definitely will be tempted to get the pro v3 iron set as well. @Sub72Golf please continue with the LH love. I have the 659CB irons and I've thought that I could, at times (most times), use a bit more forgiveness in my iron lineup. I agree with the cluttered look of the V2s. It's DLC, so it should hold up better than alternative black finishes. DBM is one of the best options, but DLC is better than PVD, QPQ, black anodized, or black chrome.
