Time off

I decided to take time off from playing three weeks ago. I just wasn't hitting it well and I don't have the time to play much fold this time of year anyway.

 

Instead I've used the time I would have to play to go back to basics. Grip, pre shot routine, set up, ball position, alignment, visualization, ball flight I'm slowly working on all of the above with the result that I'm really starting to strike the ball crisply shot after shot.

 

I know this sounds silly but down here you can always play so it's to go round after round allowing your game to fester. My short game is good enough that I can slap the ball around on familiar courses and still shoot in the mid 70s.

 

I'm anxious to play again for real. Probably the end of next week.

 

How do you reset your game when it gets off kilter?

Winter resets it whether I want it to or not

 

I have taken a week or so off during the summer if I'm having a bad stretch, but with the length of the season up here I'd rather play bad golf than play no golf so I don't tend to take much time off if I can help it.

 

To reset I'll mix up the game and play with only certain clubs, or change tee boxes for fun.  Just something to make the course play different than I'm normally used to.

I'll take a week off or two max, it doesn't seem to make a difference in my score and sometimes I feel better taking a little time off. Plus I have some things that are bigger priorities than golf, for me at least.
