Help with a push slice?

Recommended Posts

Background: Swing Speed is avg 114, Launch Angle around 12.5* , Backspin 2600rpms. Typical tee shot- by choice: Slight fade avg 282, and a pull which goes 296.

Live in the rainy pacific northwest.

Have been using a Taylormade R15 9.5* with an oban kiyoshi black 65X. Typically when the ball lands there is no run lately- different story in the summer.

ANYWAYS.... I have started hitting HUGE blocks- push slices if you will to the right.

I was seen at a fitters recently- put me on a high speed camera Results:

Center of the face contact. Back swing length was about 45 past parallel. Club face square to path at the top-closed?

Looked at shaft position at address and at impact- surprised him it was all at the same angle- said something about one plane. Path was in to out, Face ranged from 1-2* closed to 1* open.

Did well at first then hit my push- 11 in a row........

He did say that on some my hands were getting stuck behind me, Hips and chest were opening up fast and on some pushing my hands out further- led to heel hits.

Would a heavier shaft help with the timing? He had me hit an aldila 70 x stiff that was 44" and I started hitting my pull again.

Is there a drill to keep my "Slow" hands keep up with my chest or should i go with the heavier shaft??? My R15 did come with a speeder 757, but this oban feels AWESOME.

I draw my irons and fairway woods- fade when desired, but cannot stop hitting this block!. Went out today 1st tee hit a pull went 298, rest of the time HUGE block...

Sorry I missed this one. Why not take a couple of lessons? Equipment tweaks are not likely going to fix big anything although really faulty equipment might cause swing flaws to creep in. Let your pro help you. It might be something very simple.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

That's what i ended up doing- especially after almost 200 views with no response's haha. Didn't even know our pro offered lesson's. Its not very well advertised to be honest.

For any body reading this who it might help. During my half hour lesson this link basically sums up what was occurring, as Butch says it wasn't a lateral shifting toward the target or over the top movement, causing my issue.

Further more my Pro was telling me that i was starting down before i finished my back swing- rotating my hips too aggressively and because i don't have active or a handsy swing they did not catch up. He did help by having me open and close my stance and working the ball both ways and focusing again on extending my arms on the follow through and working to the finish.

Started to work on what we discussed went out shot an 84, was driving better. Than on Tuesday i went out to the course I get humbled at, and shot a 79 this last Tuesday!! Cried, but that's another story- I was able to get a record 11 GIR being in a better position on the fairway... Was playing a scratch golfer maybe helped me focus more.

I'm fighting the opposite problem. Pulling everything!

I've arranged for a lesson with the local pro. I think it beats looking for a cure online :D
