  1. Gorgeous day here with bright sun and not a ton going on which is great. Hoping to get a lot of work done with the Forum since I have kinda been "slacking" recently. A quick note on a new feature we have added - For starters though really nothing annoys us as staff more than when we go through short lists and we see members sign up who are currently on tests. It is truly one of the most offputting things we come across. It looks greedy and that people are just here for free stuff. We make it pretty clear that members can only be on one test at a time so while it can be a good showing when we see those names time and time again as we see them on the list we want to avoid that frustration and annoyance. The feature added is essentially a block on signing up. When you agree to participate on a testing opportunity we add you to this list and there will be no signup button available for you. Meaning even if you wanted to you cannot. Once the review has been graded and completed we will take the name off and you will then be able to sign up again. To add to this if a member doesn't complete a review and goes MIA or in truth does a really poor effort two things will happen. One in the case of going MIA the member will remain on that list indefinitely. Meaning no more testing. If a review is really poor and deadlines are note met as well as far below our expectations (ie a graded 1 or 2) they will also remain on the list until the following season. Finally - we are pushing the envelope with member testing this season. Meaning the most opportunities ever and getting the most opportunities for all of our membership. Next year we will be cutting back based off the number of good reviews and potential for new members to get involved. So where this season we will have in excess of 60 total opps, next year I would expect that to be in the 35-40 range. We want top tier reviews and participation - The lower the general grades are amongst the entire group the fewer opportunities we will have to ensure quality over quantity.

  2. Going to half apologize for something nobody here is asking me to apologize for, but a little sorry for not being as involved or engaged on the posting side of things. There are so many amazing threads and great content our members are putting out there and I feel miles behind all of it. It isn't a bad thing as it means I am busy working the other side of things that you don't see, but it does bum me out as I love engaging with everyone on the forum and some days just being a normal member. All the requests for grades - I am going to put those off till after the outing. Sorry, but there are a few other things that need to take priority and we got a ton of great stuff coming to the forum community. Can't wait for the outing, should be a lot of fun and again just a sorry for not being as involved or posting as much as I would like to with everyone!

  3. Had some thoughts about playing this morning, but rain in the forecast and a later night along with the two little ones sleeping like crap meant I cancelled my morning tee time at 2am. Ended up being a good call as the kids just struggled with their sleep for one reason or another. Was up early with my little girl where she is now crawling around everywhere and anywhere making life... entertaining? Thankfully she crashed soon after and started to watch The Fall Guy... not bad so far. All this to say had a few great emails for the forum last night and excited to see what we can get accomplished later this season!

  4. Good Morning all and hope this day finds you doing well!! Played 9 yesterday .. not well at all .. but heck it was a beautiful afternoon and it was nice to be out there with my honey! We stopped for a cold refresher and a snack after; then heading out stopped and started chatting with a guy I'd met when we both first joined this club a few years ago... He'd mentioned he was little tired, and I said 'oh that's too bad, hope you're feeling better soon' .. he replies 'no it's the chemo' and my face dropped... Further details of convo not important and I know some of my fellow Spies are more directly affected by this so just wanted to say... ... Cancer Sucks So if you know someone with The Big C give them a hug and let them know you care; take care of your health while you have it and get out and enjoy the day while you can...

  9. Nothing but thunderstorms here and quite frankly, I’m over it. We didn’t get much snow this past winter and I think that Mother Nature is making up for it. Played 9 after work yesterday and it was a struggle. Unable to locate the greens made for a lot of chipping and that seemed off too. Might be time to rest the shoulder a bit to get things back to normal My daughter’s high school soccer team has a regional game at 4:00 this afternoon, assuming that there will be a long enough break in the weather. Fingers crossed that it isn’t impacted by poor weather and lengthy delays. They’ve been on a hot streak and I’m hoping that they can keep it going. Have a great day spies.

  10. Good morning everyone! I hope you all are having a good start to your week. It's a nice morning here and I'm preparing myself for the last full week of work before the outing. I got to play a full round yesterday and while I wasn't lights out, I had a pretty good round and a great time. I hope all of you have a wonderful day.

  11. Morning all, I must admit, Xander has been playing really consistent golf over the last 3 years or so, and he always looked like he was going to break through on a major, but struggled to get it over the line, but this time around he looked real solid and played superbly. Well done Xander, you deserve this!

  12. Good morning all! Another busy day yesterday. My wife had a retirement party at her old job with a number of people moving on that she does not see often, so that was nice. After work I did my fit for golf work out which was great and nice to be getting back to that. Next up we needed some food so I took our oldest to our neighbors and out youngest went shopping, brought here own little cart and everything, yes it was as cute as it sounds. She kept changing out what was in her cart as we got new things in each aisle. Things took a bit longer, but it was well worth it. While this was going on my wife and middle daughter went to a yoga class together. She has been asking to go and enjoys doing her yoga cards at home and apparently it went very well and she had a blast which is most important. I am sure she will want to go again soon. Should be a bit quieter today might get out for a run, though hamstrings are pretty tight from yesterday. Have a great Thursday everyone!

  15. Good morning spies on this Monday. Woke up congested and coughing. So amping up on cold meds today, as I have a hectic week ahead. My youngest is getting married this week. I have to pick up my suit, pack, unpack and recheck what I'm packing, then do it again to get the lady boss approval. On duty for 2 days, then GC duties Wednesday, leave Thursday to drive to Johnson City, TN. Friday is final meet with catering, DJ, event planner, photographer, etc. Then it is the rehearsal dinner that evening, meet and greet with 30+ people, which most I have never met before. My Wife is stressed out too. Glad I was able to get a golf fix in yesterday! Hope everyone gets a push they need to start the week!

  18. Good morning all! Was a summer like sweltering 86 yesterday with a pop up thunderstorm in the afternoon as well. More of that on the way today before finally getting back down more normal temps which I will be very happy to see. It was warm enough the kids went to the lake and they even said the water was warm enough that they really didn't leave it, ah to be young again. Getting ready for camping this weekend, will start pulling things together this evening with what we have and what we need to brush up as its the first trip of the year. Glad to hear things went well @Erin B Have a great Wednesday everyone!

  24. Good morning everyone. Here's my morning tea. Definitely needed it on a Monday after a trip. My golf trip was outstanding. We played 1 round at a course on the way up, and 2 rounds at the location we stayed out. Both courses are basically in the middle of nowhere, so there were no distractions, very low stress. They were in great shape too. We cooked some delicious breakfasts and dinners, and a good time was had by all. Rain was forecast for 2 of the 3 days, but luckily we only had about 40 minutes of drizzle in one of our rounds, and it didn't bother us too much (rain gear was on). Temps were great. Too bad my wife is sick, our water heater went out, and there are plenty of other things I'm dealing with as well between work and home, hail damage, etc. But the golf is good. Here are my rounds- I played very well! I usually play 9, so I can't remember the last time I shot under 80! We did play from the green/gold tees though (one shorter than white), so that definitely makes it easier for me than usual as a longer hitter than my companions. But I have to be careful to keep my drives in play! And I did better than expected there. And a bunch of birdies! My big victory is that I parred the difficult par 5 #14 both times! That hole is super tough and really has my number - extremely narrow tee shot down a big hill, to a dogleg left, forest left and right the whole way, and a really high elevated green that is catastrophic if you miss it (last pic) and has a really big two-tier slope in the middle.

  25. Good morning fellow spies from a rainy and wet Wisconsin Monday morning. Took a little weekend hiatus from the forum as it was a quite busy weekend. Got started on my yearly mulch project (better late than never) and have already laid down 33 bags. I estimate I've got about another 40 to go. Strongly considering buying it in bulk next year but will have to compare costs. Also got some mowing and weeding done, but the weeding project is never ending. I despise it. Lol. Played 9 on Saturday morning with my oldest and it was a very mixed bag. Couldn't hit a wood or hybrid to save my life, but irons were respectable, wedges were fantastic and putting was really solid. Ended up shooting a 51, which was better than what I was expecting. If only I could put it all together in the same round . Gotta get to the practice range a couple times hopefully this week and planning to play 9 on Friday before we head out of town for the Memorial Day weekend. I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend, sorry for bailing on you all, but I am back and refreshed! Also, I know some were complaining about the scoring at Valhalla and the course being too easy, but man, was it entertaining! Also great to see X finally get the monkey off his back for his first major!

  26. So I’ve been looked to upgrade my Mavrik irons and have been torn on what to go for but then stumbled across the Cobra Forged Tec irons and really liked them. I was unsure as I know they’re about due to be replaced but then found a set of 4-PW +GW that had been custom ordered with -0.25 KBS $ Taper Light shafts but then not bought. It just so happened that this is the length I was fitted into but to buy them on the site I found them they are £1120. However because these had already been custom made and then not bought I got them for £499.95 so snapped them up! They still have the shrink wrap on the heads and are brand new so can’t wait for them to arrive

  28. Good morning all! Was a hot one yesterday again and this time it was my turn to take the kids to the lake in the evening. We had a great time playing in the sand and the water was cold but refreshing with how hot it was. It was also just nice to be able to do the fun stuff with them. As some might have gathered my wife stays home with the kids so there are many adventures that I miss out on, so it was nice to be the one doing the adventuring. Today will be busy between work and then needing to get ready for the weekends camping trip. Time to pull out all the gear, check everything out and then ensure we have the food we need. Have a great day everyone!

  29. So lately I had been wanting to try walking on the course more and more on my mind. Goodness only knows why, especially with the heat and humidity we get 8-9 months of the year! I've read all the topics, researched push carts, read reviews here, got involved in a few discussions here too. Well, with any chance of playing golf nixed due to heavy storms and rains the last 2 days, I went goodwill/thrift store hunting.(I know, no big surprise coming from me) I did not find a single golf push cart though. (or any clubs... weird) At the last place I walked into, as I was turning the back corner to head out, my spidey sense was tingling, and I saw something... it wasn't hidden, it just wasn't on my radar. I wheeled it out onto the floor space, and my mind proceeded to calculate at 1000mph in different directions. images.mp4 It had a sweet price tag of 19.99. It still had stickers on the tires and plastic on the handle. I rolled it up front and said out loud, "You know, this will work!" To which the lady at the counter replied "huh?" I got it home, and began dissecting it down to its bones. I made short work of it, and saw it's potential unfold before my eyes. I've made no secret that I am a CAPP for alot of things, so I started putting my ideas together and decided i was going to repurpose as much of its pieces as I could. I emptied the stix bag to use as a mock up test bag, and proceeded to rummage through my garage. Once I had 90% of what I thought I needed, I began the build out. I managed to utilize the seat buckle camlock strap as a bag lock for the bottom. Cut and moved the canopy and its mechanism/arm to the top. Repositioned the rocker buckles and the folding lock arms. I used the lock arms as a cross brace for the bottom pvc pipe. Originally I drilled and bolted it directly on to secure it in place. This gave me a usable reference to build off of. I was able to place the bag on the base, strap it down, and position it to see where it needed to be for best club clearance. I placed the wedges and the driver in the bag at the top and bottom for a visual aid. All in about an hours time, then headed into the house. Today I woke up to more nasty weather, so decided it was time to finish what I started! I set the bag in place, used a small bucket to position it up enough to clear the clubs over the top box I had decided that the easiest and best way to make the top bag rest work well, was to build a pvc style field goal. I measured both bags (stand and cart) then measured, cut, and dry fit the pieces. The bag sat nicely in place! I then glued it all together (no turning back at that point) and attached it to the pvc cross rail. I closed and reopened the jogger several times. I needed to make it so the field goal would collapse flat when it was closed. That's when I decided to drill cross holes at the base and use locking hitch pins to secure it. I drove to the store and picked up a pair of hitch pins, a pool noodle, and pvc end caps. Test ran the open and closed positions and was satisfied. I cut up the pool noodle and used it on all the pvc pieces. This serves as both padding for the bags, and also it prevents side to side shifting of them. Placed each bag on the cart, and it was a perfect fit! I then deiced to remove the canopy itself, as it was just not able to cover the bag or clubs. I was truly hopping it would be big enough as an added measure of rain protection. Last was figuring out how to secure the top of the bags. I was hoping to re-use the original straps, but they were not long enough. So I grabbed a few different types of bungee cords. The black rubber ones worked just OK, but couldn't move them around enough. I tried next some elastic bungee cords, and found one that did the job well. I still wasn't satisfied though. So I went digging through a bin of random crap (doesn't everyone have a bin of random crap ?) and pulled out a cam locking tie down strap I've never used. Reusing the carts old strap fasteners, I attached it to each side and test fit each bag. Eureka! It worked great! Now, I know the pool noodles are hideous, but they work for their intended purpose. I still have to find a sliding tray to mount to the bottom of the cup holder bar, (for phone, keys, etc) , and either a mini clipboard, or a golf cart specific one to attach to the top part to keep a scorecard and pencil on. It fits well folded up in the back! Future development ideas include tube clamp accessories like an umbrella mount, phone mount, drink holder for oversized bottles/tumblers, etc. But those can be found for cheap almost anywhere from WM to Amazon to temu, and can be non golf specific. (Strollers, bicycles, motorcycles, etc all offer some type of accessories product options) If you made it this far, congratulations! Now here is a 12 minute video of everything I went over in writing. Feel free to critique, ask questions, give feedback, and defiinitely will take suggestions on how to make the upper bag support less fugly!!!

  32. Good morning spies. Had some nasty storms pass through yesterday that toppled some trees locally, no personal damage for me. A friend of mine that lives 30 minutes south of me sent me a video of the 9 hole course in his small town that is almost completely under water. So much rain. Slight chance or rain today and more storms on Friday but then we can hopefully dry out a little bit. Daughter’s regional high school soccer game that was scheduled for last night will now be played tonight with the winner moving on to play again tomorrow. Potential back-to-back soccer games can be brutal. That’s all that I’ve got today, have a great day spies.

  36. Good morning Spies on a warm and humid Michigan morning. @Erin B hopes and prayers that all goes well with your spousal units medical procedures today. @ParFore74x you are not alone in your thoughts on the rainy weather. Yesterday it was beautiful in the morning, but as the heat of the day increased, the storms developed and rolled through both in the afternoon, and evening hours. Similar forecast for the next couple days here, so anything I want or need to do outside is a morning project. Hoping to maybe get some practice in later today, depends upon the weather if it is indoors or outdoors. Have a great day, make your day the best it can be, and hope something fun and enjoyable is in your plans.

  41. Good morning spies! Will be missing my 8am tee time this morning due to a mouse in the house. How it got in is anyone's guess. Between the Fiancé calling it "scary" and Mr. Pickles being completely freaked out all night, needless to say it was a sleepless night. Starting in on part 1 of an advanced programming class tonight and will continue for the next 10 weeks. Pretty stoked that I am back to the programming curriculum after the sociology class I had. Also, fingers crossed that the Fiancé and I get approved for a new move-in so we can get out of Long Beach before it gets worse. Sending positivity and prayers to @Erin B and Mrs. B this week! Besides that, have a great day and start to the week everybody!

  42. Good Morning Spies! It was a good weekend. youngest daughter had a basketball tournament. They mercy ruled the two teams they played Saturday but then Sunday three of the starters did not make the games as they are multi sport athletes and the two clashed resulting in a one point loss in the championship. To one of the teams we mercy ruled Saturday night. Boo. But she is getting better and learning and that is all that matters at this point. Had a good conversation with one of my daughters dads, so it was good. Took a nap both days, which usually doesn't happen on weekends, but had the PGA on during those naps. Falling asleep to golf and waking up to it. Busy week ahead. Youngest has softball games tonight and tomorrow night. Then Thursday is our charity golf tournament that I am the director of so plenty to do between now and then. TopGolf with top sponsors Wednesday night to kick it off. Typical forecast of rain all week, but we have been blessed with amazing weather every year so no stopping this year. Maybe I will get a chance to hit the little white ball around sometime this week. Hope you all have a great day.

  43. Good morning, Spies!! Happy Monday!! It's a beautiful morning here. Sun is shining bright, temps are cool, and no rain in sight for the next 3 days! Granted it'll be back for the weekend, which will likely mean no golf. Ugh. I did get to play yesterday. Cart path only, and the course was a bit "squishy." But it was a beautiful day and dad shot a fantastic 43/42/85. We won't talk about my 96. The Annual MGS Forum Outing at Kingsmill is just over a week away, so there is much to look forward to as May draws to a close. And hopefully a summer that'll be much drier than the spring. Everyone have a wonderful day!!

Good Monday morning spies! No golf today and probably the week. The spousal unit and I head to Denver today for tomorrow’s surgery. The Drs want her to stay there the whole week so we got a suite at the Marriott. She’s wanting me to bring the clubs, I’m thinking no. I’ll be working on my midway review of Molly the motocaddy anyway. Hope all is well! G*D bless and have a fantastic day!

  46. Good morning MGSpies from summer has arrived in this neck of the woods at least until Wednesday WNY where 80s are forecast today through Wednesday for this final week of work and preparation before the adventure to MD begins. Had a chance to play 9 after the HOPE session yesterday, son came down to meet me for a clubhouse cheeseburger then on the course. Some good hits, some not so good hits, very wet on all low to no slope areas so everyone was walking but greens were fast but somewhat plinko with aeration probably a couple weeks ago. Still the grass was cut at home in the evening and other things done that pleased MyGolfSpouse for a peaceful evening. Hope golf is a part of your day! 9

  47. Good morning spies on this back to the grind Monday. Thunderstorms are currently overhead but the rain should be done by this afternoon so clubs will go to work with me today. I’ve played the last two days with very similar results and the biggest element that I’ve noticed is the struggle that kicks in on the back 9. I’d like to be able to call it fatigue but it seems to happen right after the turn. Play a nice front 9 and then struggle for 2-3 holes before getting back on track. Really hoping that I can work my way through this one soon. Have a great day everyone.

  48. Good morning! Made it to the airport for work travel and I was shocked to see Scottie got detained. Weird situation, but glad it seems to have dissolved and he’s back at the course. Thanks for the well wishes regarding my rib situation. It was rough getting the luggage through the airport. Now that I’m settled it’s doing better. I’m excited to spend a couple days in a new city (SLC, UT), but unfortunately there will be almost zero extra time! Have a good day everyone! Good luck at the tournament @GolfSpy_APH!

  49. Good morning, Spies!! TGIFF!! Another rainy morning here. Was heavy early and it's tapered off lately. It's supposed to continue through at least tomorrow morning. So no golf Saturday morning and I'm still crossing my fingers we get to play on Sunday. Looks clear and 80* on Sunday, so let's hope that holds for our 10:18am tee time. Nice quiet morning in golf this morning. Have a great day everyone.
