  1. Okay we have a pretty unique opportunity open to all members in the US regardless of whether they are testing something currently or not. The process is simple, but you need to read and follow instructions in order to take part. What is it? Bridgestone is looking for up to Forum members to get a free dozen Bridgestone Mindset golf balls for sampling. Yes, you read that right up to 125 members. That's not all though, if you are in a part of the country that isn't able to golf right now, don't worry! Next month we will run this back for another week and another 125 members. Then again the next month and the month after that for a total of up to 500 members! Note: Each member is only eligible to participate once! Pick your month for when you can golf the most and get the most out of this opportunity! A huge thank you and shout out to Bridgestone for this. So how do you apply and what do you have to do? Step 1: Watch this YouTube video Then watch it again. Seriously, a second time would be beneficial and it is only 2 minutes long. Step 2: Go over to Bridgestones website and go through their Ball Selection Guide. https://www.bridgestonegolf.com/en-us/find-my-ball/ball-selector-tool#/ Once you have done that you will know which ball is best for you! Easy. Post a screenshot or photo of your results. Step 3: Fill out this form and answer all the questions correctly! Questions need to be correct in order to be eligible for the free dozen golf balls. Link below for those that are not able to fill out as is in the forum above. There are two sections - one for the questionnaire and second for shipping information to be sent to Bridgestone. (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc1xWU_2ZHalyaHbKJGBO-KP5nCs5iYtTa6W9XMUvM96IUUrQ/viewform?usp=sf_link) Step 4: Wait for your golf balls and get ready to start posting! We will leave this open for 1 week and then send all the correct responses to Bridgestone for them to ship out the golf balls. Few final notes for this opportunity - There will be no PM or other message confirming your participation. When the golf balls show up we will ask that you post and share your experience with them. We will create that thread after the opportunity has closed. Last - take an extra minute and read all of this again! In this case it really pays to read and follow instructions! Thanks all!

  2. Turned up at work this morning a few minutes before my scheduled start time of 9.30, only my third shift working here. Straight forward start, supervised a student doing a chest Xray. That’s when things went a bit off script. Felt some discomfort in my chest, not too bad but definitely not great. After a couple of minutes I called out to the student for some help. By this stage the pain in my chest was crushing and I had gone sweaty and clammy. He called an ambulance and the nurse and radiologist I was working with started obs and gave me some GTN spray. Paramedic arrived, bluetoothed ECG to Cardiologist at the local hospital (where I worked for 19 years until last January) Heard the following discussion “S-T elevation “ and knew I was off to the Cardiac Catheter Lab. 1/2 an hour later I was on the table in the lab. Another 1/2 hour and I had a stent in my previously occluded right coronary artery. 2 more stenoses were picked up that need stents, but they are waiting for my heart to have rest before going back in on Monday or Tuesday. Echo cardiogram showed all is looking good. 24 hours of total bed rest now So thankful for all the staff (at both places and paramedics) and the technology that is available Also thankful that the health care system in Australia means I don’t have to worry about any expenses. Hoping to get back on the course in the next couple of weeks

  3. An update of sorts: The last week has been an adventure, to say the least. Last Thursday, I went to my favorite local golf shop, The Golf Exchange, with the notion of trying out other X stiff shafts with a QI-10 LS head. There is something about the Kai Li white that I’m not jiving with. So after trying a number of different options, I decided to grab a Fujikura Ventus Blue TR 6x. To fully commit to the QI, and help offset the cost, I traded in the Paradym TD. Fast forward to a testing session on Saturday and tragedy struck. I went with the intention of using club spray to get some data on center strikes vs toe hits, etc. On the 2nd swing, I heard a loud sound that has no earthly business at a driving range and discovered this: So while I patiently wait for Taylor Made to indicate how they wish to proceed, I sourced a backup plan, as the timing of the Paradym TD trade in has been less than optimal. A quick word of praise for this head/shaft combo. It is fantastic and will make a wonderful back-up club. Rapsodo_MLM2PRO_110051_14031240export.mov Hopefully, in the next week or two I will have the replacement head and the Ventus shaft and can resume my testing. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy my time with the Cobra. The work continues…

    The 10K Club

So I had all these big plans on doing a fun and cool post for my 10K... apparently that happened sometime yesterday and I blew right past it and am now at 10,062.... oops So for my 10,063 rd post I just want to thank this whole community! Seriously, all of you here make this place a truly incredible community! From the 7k plus new members who have joined in 2024 to those that have been around since day one it is just an fantastic place to spend my online hours. Thank you to the current and past staff. I love working with you guys and we have so much fun and make this job not feel like a job... most the time. I won't be long winded with this, but more just a wow! 10k posts... didn't think or ever believe that near 8 years ago I would make it to 10k. Thank you everyone for making this place what it is!

  5. Good morning MGSpies from still dark but not for long Chesney SC for this WNYer starting the second half of my son's Spring Break road trip. Golf was not part of yesterday but a good visit to Cowpens National Battlefield was which was determined to be a pivotal success for the Colonial Army in 1781 including a first time since 281 BC that a "double envelopment" effectively culminated the British regulars into surrender, Hannibal had done it first to the Romans. Hope golf is a part of your day when we all manage a double envelopment of the ball into the last cup of the round 75

  6. Good morning, Spies! I have a busy day ahead of juggling work balls this morning, then shuttling the college kids to the airport, oil changes, car cleanouts (vacuuming sand - ack), etc. It will be good, productive day, if I have any control at all. I think my golf brain, body, and swing need a few days respite anyway. Too much range time can be counter-productive in my case. The mods are doing a fantastic job here with all the testing opportunities and whatnot. Thank you. I wish you all super days and a wonderful weekend!

  7. Good morning all! Back from out kids birthday trip after some fun, skiing, skating, and swimming at the indoor pool. It was a great time and the kids seem to have had a blast. Was still off work yesterday so my son and I got our hair cut and then went for bike ridding where our middle child rocked it and moved up to the pedal bike! I will give a shout out balance bikes, our first two have used them and moving to a pedal bike for both has been very smooth. One odd day of work work today to get a few things done and then dive into another weekend with not much going on, but I am sure we will find something fun to do. Have a great day and weekend everyone!

  8. Good morning MGS Troops! I’ve lost track of which day it is today. It’s either Thursday or Friday but I don’t know what course we’re playing today. It’s either Palmer or Canyons. Conestoga yesterday was windy! Like 40 mph windy. Hope you all have a great day! Happy Birdie Hunting!

  9. Good morning from Las Vegas where I must have brought the Iowa weather with me. Highs in the 50s with rain today are expected for our first soccer game off the tournament. At least it’s conditions that we are used to playing in. The time zone change is definitely messing with me. Woke up at 3:45 (5:45 at home) and am struggling to go back to sleep so here I am on the forum. Did a little sight seeing yesterday by visiting the Hoover Dam. Didn’t take any tours but just walking around and checking things out was impressive enough. Have a great day spies!

  11. As long as the attire is presentable - who cares. It's about playing, keeping pace and learning a life long sport. Clothes are expensive! Clubs are expensive! Shoes are expensive! Balls are expensive! I golf with a lady who goes out on the weekend to look for lost balls just so she can play the game she loves. She wouldn't be able to play without doing this. She uses old clubs as she can't afford new ones. She asks for tees for her birthday and Christmas presents. She wears 10 year old golf shoes. She doesn't buy new clothes. She has a great game with a 6 GHIN. Should we ban these individuals from playing? I think not. I truly enjoy playing with her!

  12. And another Happy TGIF to you all!! That cheery, bright Mr Sun who visited our area the past few days seems to be hiding today - not sure if there's a threat of rain or not, but at least temps are still mild before a forecasted drop coming up. So maybe a little golf practice or try to play a few holes later..? @Peaksy68 hoping for a quick recovery! ..and rest up, that nice restaurant will still be there when you're ready for it... @Triple_Putt I know the old Mom saying is wear clean underwear in case you get into an accident .. but you were really prepared and had clean pants with you! (.. but not asking the next question ) Everybody - I hope your coffee .. and your golf games .. are hot!! Enjoy the day!

  13. Good morning to all and happy Friday. Enjoying my morning coffee catching up on the various threads. An exciting start to the Players. When you play TPC Sawgrass and are totally pranked on the 17th. See link below. About 2.5 weeks before the Players. I didn’t even know it was on film until my friend from TXG sent me the link, with the words, you’re famous. Oh god, what did I do. I’m the guy in the blue and black shirt. And, oh yeah, from the tee this is a very intimidating hole. Fortunately, I parred the hole, although the ball almost rolled off the back. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend playing TPC Sawgrass. Worth every penny. An awesome experience. Hopefully the links below work. Have a great day. https://fb.watch/qOCPdriJBP/? https://www.facebook.com/THEPLAYERS/videos/325476121648880/?extid=CL-UNK-UNK-UNK-IOS_GK0T-GK1C&ref=sharing

  14. Morning all. Best weather of the week is today, but unfortunately it’s not a golf day. The weather for the forecastable future lies somewhere between this … … and this … Sends some good vibes @Peaksy68’s way. He’s enduring hospital food at the moment. Have a good one!

  16. Good morning everyone and happy Friday! It's looking like it's going to be an ugly day weather wise here. I started my drive to lightning rolling in the sky and then ran into some torrential rain. It's settled down for now, but it's going to be a stormy day. I enjoyed the community call yesterday evening, it's just a great way to finish off a Thursday. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

  17. Morning all! Had a family member get back from the UK yesterday, apparently they'd made a trip to St Andrews while they were there and brought me back a bag of goodies. Definitely wasn't expecting that, pretty chuffed with it all

  18. Good morning! It was an eventful night last night because my oldest (6yo) let me pull out one of her very loose front teeth with a pliers. It came out instantly and she was SO excited to be "brave" and the hopeful visit from the tooth fairy! Today won't be quite as exciting as it's just a work all day kind of day. Hopefully I can get a little chipping or putting practice in around the house, but with a vacation to Branson, MO coming up in about a week, I'm sure I'll get scolded if I'm doing anything with my spare time other than getting ready to get going for that. Have a good day everyone! @ParFore74x - Cool photos of the Hoover Dam! That place is quite the engineering marvel. I can't believe I haven't made a trip out there to see it considering I work with boat loads of small dams here in Michigan. Anyway, looks like you're having fun and enjoy your time in LV! @Cfhandyman - "Well that's not gonna cut it!" I cannot even imagine what I would do in that situation. I remember watching that video on Youtube as soon as it came out on Skratch TVs channel. "Damn that was good!" Two epic quotes from you. Not to mention; awesome that you got to play TPC Sawgrass! A dream for most people. @Dead Solid Bogey - DG stores are outnumbering the rabbits here in Southern Michigan. It's unreal!

  19. Good morning, Working, watching The Players, and having a cup of Joe. Can it be any better (yes, but only if I was on the course).

  20. The female leader of the family made me go to a bib and adult sippy cup when driving. She said something about my looking deranged and unkept enough without having to look like a total slob.. That it reflected badly on her. Smart move and having the extra pants..

  21. Happy Friday spies! Got lots of storms and rain yesterday after noon and last night. Cooler today and this weekend but still in the 60’s. My youngest has a basketball tournament this weekend so watching the players will be tough but I’ll see what I can do. Everyone have a great weekend!

  22. Morning All, Stayed fever free yesterday which was a huge plus. Was still a little tired and not able to eat a whole lot of different foods. I think that might change today since I have woke up nauseous. And my stomach is singing the song Audrey II sang to Seymour in “Little Shop Of Horrors”. Was thinking maybe go try to get to the range but the wife dropped a bomb on that by reminding me that today is the day our shed that houses our mowing stuff and coolers is getting an uplift. Instead of tearing it down then building a new one, the fiscally responsible thing for us to do is not spend 6500 for a new shed. Instead we are spending close to 1200 to refurnish the one we have cause the structure is sound, it just looks rough. So that will be what my day consists of. Hope everyone has a good day.

  23. Just going to say this once here - If you are already testing something don't sign up for more testing opportunities. It looks greedy and selfish. Members will typically only get one opportunity per season. We also will not select someone if they are currently in another testing period. We have a ton of great members and want to spread the opportunities around. Signing up for test after test after test (especially when you have been selected) is something we notice... and not in a good way. Edit: We used to send out messages saying hey, just so you know this looks bad etc. However we aren't doing that any longer. It is up to you all to see and understand it as we lay it out.

  24. Good morning to all and happy Thursday. Enjoying my morning espresso, no doggie disasters and looking forward to watching the Players later today. For your laugh of the day. Answering the security question before getting on the call. Have a great day.

  25. Happy Monday all, Had a good, but busy, weekend of not one, but two St. Patrick's Day dinners (thanks @GolfSpy_SHARK for the second one!) and baseball as both boys had evaluations and we had our last day of winter training for the little ones. Both boys did really well. Jackson looks to be the top 1 or 2 of the 9 year-olds again this year so he's probably going to cost me a first round draft pick even though he could play with kids up to 12 this year. Work is also continuing on the basement. Pretty sure we got the last of our materials orders and the plumber is here today to install fixtures in the bathroom... getting so close to being done!

  27. Happy Friday! Rain forecasted for most of the day and thru the weekend here. We will see how true that is. Coffee is brewing and busy day ahead. @Peaksy68 hope you get to feeling better quickly! @Triple_Putt that's the worst! Have a great day everyone!

  29. Good morning Spies, and happy Thursday!! Been warm here the last couple of days, with highs in the mid to upper 60's and yesterday into the low 70's. Today will be mid 70's, but with the return of rain later today and all day tomorrow. Then temps back down to the 40's on Monday. So I think Spring is here, but with a few days where Spring has it's back turned to Winter. But I do like seeing all the sunny days this weekend and next week. Hoping it'll be nice enough to get a range session on Saturday with a mid 60's and partly sunny day, currently. Work continues in the laundry room. Drywall mud and tape jobs done and sanded. Texture applied to the walls. Paint done as well. Luckily I have enough leftover paint from the previous owners to do the laundry area. I think we may be able to start fitting the utility cabinet along with the base and wall cabinets next to it today, so we can cut out the proper amount of baseboard so they fit nice and snug. Forward progress is great to see in the room and I can't wait to get it all done. But it'll be at least another 1-2 weeks before we can finish it all. We'll get there. Everyone have a wonderful Thursday!

  31. Good morning, I've missed you guys. Been more than a week since I've posted in here. Finally got to play a round yesterday. I've been limited to the range and the practice green for a few days due to a lingering eye infection. Thankfully I took my grandson with me so he could help me spot my ball - more than once he had to point right at it to get me to my next stroke. But .... I get to play today and tomorrow, and then two rounds lined up for next week. I'll wrap up my testing of the Arias Chipper by the end of next week and then the week after I get fitted for a new fairway wood. So .... all in all it's all good. Hope you're playing golf today.

  32. Good morning everyone. Gonna be a bit cold and dreary today with wind and rain in the forecast. Can’t complain too much as it’s being really dry the last few weeks. Hoping we get enough rain to soften up the courses before I head out tomorrow. Gonna do my best to not make a fool of myself after shooting 69. Then again, it’s a shorter course so maybe I try to grind out a 68? Either way, it’s a round of golf with my son so it will be a great day. Looking forward to the community call this afternoon. Hope to see some of you all there.

  33. Morning All, Still have a fever, spiked at 102.7 and was forced to go to the ER last night. It’s a little more manageable being lower at 100.5 this morning. Food still doesn’t sound good. But drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated. Hopefully whatever I have is gone soon. Everyone have a great day. I’m gonna go back to sleep.

  35. Good morning Spies! Hard to believe another week has rolled around so fast... TGIF!!! Thoughts and prayers to those effected by last night's storms. We were fortunate here being on the South edge as it passed thru and avoiding the nasty stuff. @Peaksy68 Hoping for speedy recovery and return to doing the things you love. Erands to run and appointments to keep today as it is time for my regularly scheduled blood donation. Just cant get enough of those Nutter Butter cookies! Everyone have a safe and productive day and enjoy some golf if you get the opportunity.

  36. Good Friday Morning Spies! Clear & cool Central Florida morning, 63 degrees with a high reaching 87 today. Ahh, Spring is here! On 2nd cup of espresso! No golf today, Ranger duties, then celebrating sister's birthday tonight. Enjoyed the video @Cfhandyman, at TPC. That was cruel (but funny) getting punked. Good you got to play the 17th & Nice par! Keep the photos coming @Erin B. Courses look beautiful! Ahh Vegas, enjoy @ParFore74x. Hope you can get some golf in. Vegas has some great courses!! Have a Great Day Everyone! Stay warm & hit'em straight!

    The Good Morning Thread

Good morning Spies on a no commute TGIF cooler morning but warmer afternoon here in Michigan. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery @Peaksy68 I will be creating part analysis presentations and working in the customer warranty system to provide responses to why parts were replaced, or vehicles repaired. Looking forward to a mid 50's and maybe windy Saturday, as I have a round scheduled with our regular group, and it will be my round for the VCT tournament. Hope your day is the best it possibly can be, and that something enjoyable is in your plans.

  41. Good morning all! @sirchunksalot I hope your back starts to feel better so you can get out on the course soon! @ParFore74x Good luck at the tournament! @IndyBonzo have fun! @Wheelieb Glad to hear you are on the mend! @scotter032 I think I speak for everyone when I say I’m jealous! Have fun at The Players! As for me heading to a haircut this AM then back home to tackle a bunch of work. I Had the simulator yips last night and couldn’t hit a shot to save my life. Not sure what it is because it doesn’t translate to the course, thankfully. I’m also dealing with some pesky Hip pain. I’m hoping I can cover it with ibuprofen and a massage gun to avoid the doctors. All in all just pushing for the weekend. Happy community call day, looking forward to hopping on with everyone!

  46. @David Leighton Reid, is that a copperhead? I can't tell too good in that photo, but I'm glad you didn't have a run in with it. I don't care what kind of snake it was, it would have startled me pretty good. I have a friend that likes to catch them...I think he's nuts. He wouldn't be doing much chasing right now as he broke a toe last night. The wife and I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on a new fridge. The control panel still isn't working on our current one. We spent quite a bit of time at Lowe's looking at them because she needed the proper "cheese drawer", which is the long one on the bottom of the fridge. We went with a 30.5 cu ft Samsung and got it at a decent price due to a sale. They're delivering it Wednesday and hauling the old one away. Not gonna lie, I'm a bit emotional about the getting rid of the old one as it was a house warming gift from my mom. She was so proud to be able to buy it for us and I still think about her every time I open it up. @GolfSpy_KFTI hope you enjoy your vacation, it looks like a good retreat from the cold climate in Wisconsin. Have fun with the family and I have one pro tip for you: sunscreen.
