So get this.... I normally have my drive in play and this was the case for the day. I hit a drive straight down the middle of the fairway on hole # 7. This not a course I normally play. Then I see a small beagle dog run out and pick up my ball and run back into the woods. I tee up another and the same dam thing happens. So I proceed to go out to where my ball would have been. I see the dog and a little further behind him is this man in chest waders carrying a sack of balls.
I proceed to tell him that his dog picked up my ball from the fairway and he shows me the sack and sure enough there are my two balls near the top with probably three dozen other balls. He said he was sorry and he trained his dog to fetch golf balls for him but he was still working on training him to only get balls from the woods. Fist thoughts were that was freaking genius.
So I said to him, what if my ball went just off the fairway into the woods and I went to look for it and now your dog took it. He said if it goes in the woods it is fair game. Finders keepers. So now I went from impressed to pissed in 10 seconds. So I didn't want to get into an altercation on a what if scenario with this older gentlemen. I did get my balls back and since it was an outside agency acting on my ball I didn't incur a penalty. So I just walked away knowing the Pro shop was two holes away.
At the turn I went into the Pro shop and told them what was going on during the course's open hours of play time. The reply was "oh that's just old Harry. He's harmless and collects lost balls and sells them in his yard on the 15th hole. Then I said he dog was taking them from the fairway while in play. Then the reply was well I guess that was just bad timing. Obviously I was not going to get anywhere with this guy. Must have been an old Harry fan!
So my back nine was not pretty. Not focused and pissed. Wanting to hit his house on 15 so I can tell him he shouldn't have built a house on a golf course. Not to mention looking out of the corner of my eye for that dam dog. (I am a dog guy, nothing against the dog) How many golfers were getting penalized for a lost ball that potentially wasn't.
You just never know what you can run into on a Golf Course! No I didn't send a ball his way on 15.
There used to be a do that lived off the 11th green at a course i play in E. Wash quite a bit. the dog would grab the ball and run back by his house, and lay down.. All you had to do was walk up to him and he'd let you grab you ball, he thought of it as a game to get attention.. never take it so you could not find it just off the green to where he would lay down... the owner let a bucket on a post just on his property with a sign about the dog..
"If my dog took your ball feel free to replace it, also local rule is to place it as close to original spot as possible.. P.S. dog love to be petted.."..
you could always find proV's in the bucket, the owner would pick up more from the pro shop as the bucket got low..

I prefer the “little guy” also. I never go into the local Dicks or Watts.
Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpyWe have a couple of really good golf stores that I normally frequent but since I was there and really did not want to hang out in a store buy decorations for the house i figured i would just wander for a while.. that was short lived.. Thanks to everyone for their responses. If anyone need Top Flite golf balls i know a store.. LOL. anything else not so much..

Went into the local Dicks this weekend, killing time while wife and Daughter were in Hobby Lobby. Happened to see a Cobra SZ with the Hzrds Yellow Smoke shaft for $399.00 (the club I'm thinking about upgrading to), so I asked if I could Give it a few hits in their Bay.. I was told they charge $20 an hour, if I wanted to pay $20 I could... WTH.. I get charging for me to bring clubs in and hit.. but testing a club out for a potential sale.. I just said no thanks and left..
Am I missing something? I have always been able to give a club a few hits if I'm looking. Never have I even been charged if I just said I want to try it.. Not that I'm a big Dicks Shopper since the golf area is one of the smallest around. Had a ton of balls and very few clubs...

My club setup is pretty well locked in for 2021, but I've been thinking of replacing my bag. I was doing some online bargain bin shopping tonight (as is my custom), but was running into a recurring problem. Basic rule of shopping for clearance golf bags: the link will show you the bag in a classy color scheme, but when you click, the only color left is radioactive unicorn vomit.
Then I stumbled on this classy bag:
I love the understated color scheme. And the Pioneer is always a top performer in Most Wanted testing. Found a site that was selling it below normal retail (which is very unusual with PING). Did some checking into the retailer and seems legit; I'll update if otherwise.
This is more than I've spent on a bag before, but found I had some forgotten PayPal cash, which somehow doesn't count as ordinary money, right? So I pulled the trigger on this.
You will be very happy with that purchase. I have one that is home to my "extra" set. Enjoy it..

The CHA Fairy has sprinkled some pixie dust in my coffee a few times recently.
I purchased an outdoor hitting mat from eBay that reveals the strick and ground interaction with some sort of felt. It looks to be a rip off of the Acustrike Impact Training Mat. The price was right and USPS will be delivering it soon. At around $16 I had to buy 2 of them.
The eBay mosquito bug bit me real good when I bought a Ping ISI Tour (laminated maple) Driver with a graphite shaft which is R flex (I play stiff)... So, CHA pixie dust MUST be to blame! About $58 was more than I wanted to spend, but I have been looking for one of these for a while.
Then, if that wasn't enough, I got a set of Cleveland TA3 Form Forged 3-PW irons. They have Sun Valley Graphite R Flex 400 shafts - WTH is the CHA Fairy thinking???!!!??? I guess $65 was too good to pass up.
Now I need to buy a set of shafts and grips to reshaft the irons ... Golfworks, here I come.
OK as soon as you try it I have to know how the mat does.. I have been looking at the Accustrike, and if this works and last I might pick up one like you just got..

Personally I would buy 1 sleeve of the mid grade balls for $10.00 and 2 sprites, that way I could mix drinks and would be searching for lost balls.. If I'm only starting with 3 balls it might be a long day,.,. LOL

OK, I love almost everything about this putter. This is beautiful except to me it looks a little unfinished, and a little rough. the shape and design are fantastic. I do not like the finish on the back of the putter especially the black Lattice portion..

Nice read.. Sorry I missed it.. I reviewed the Wilson D300's a couple of years ago (before CCC2) and they beat out my Ping G25's. So i know Wilson makes great clubs.. If you are looking at wedges try the Cleveland RTX Zipcore... They are very nice, FOR ME, i got more spin and stopping.. Tee 'em High and Hit 'em Long my friend..

@tony@CIC, it has been a couple of years for me, but I think 2 things
1) contacting Arccos and letting them know whats going on and they might have a way to do it.
2) but also the way it works you would need to keep her phone on you while you play and also she would have to do the same. unless the two of you don't play together that might be an issue..
I think you'll need to get a new phone, I know some guys bought a older Iphone solely for that purpose and it worked fine.. Check with @HardcoreLooper, I think he did that..

Personal best for 9 holes, period. you did not play 18 that day. What you did days later is a different round of golf. Not trying to rain on your round, that is a great round and congratulations. but you asked if what you did days ago, and what you did yesterday count as breaking 80. I say NO, you shot even par on 9.
If I played a week ago and had 3 birdies on holes 1-3 then came back today and had birdies on 4-6 and parred 7-9 between the two days does that mean i shot 6 under for a round?
You played a great 9 holes, lucky or not. No one can take that from you. You shot par on that course on That day... that's it.. My thoughts, As someone who has never shot par on any course, that is a great accomplishment. Thanks for sharing.

When I was in a golf league we had a standing rule, Any ball that is lost in the fairway or everyone agrees of where the ball should be (Plugged, in the leaves, ect ) and is not findableas long as everyone agrees this is where the ball should be, Free drop, within reason. if you slice it into the next county your screwed, but if it lands just off the fairway, in the fairway( yours) then drop and play on. Living in the Pacific NorthWet It is not uncommon in spring or fall for balls to plug in the middle of the fairway and not be found, or in the leaves.. the key is everyone has to agree, and it is league, this is a gentleman's game.

OK, It's been crazy the last week or so but I did get out last weekend. Played with SWMBO and had a great day. SWMBO shot a personal best 92 breaking 100 for the 1st time.. I was very proud of her..
Moving on to the Wedge.. I was more impressed with this wedge. I hit several shots that saved par and a couple that gave me birdies.. I hit a 40 yd chip that landed 2 ft past the hole 1 hopped and stopped within 3 inches of it's ball mark.. Nothing really spun back, but 3-4 that one hopped landed and came back an inch or two which was very confidence building.. I was able to throw the ball into the green and knew it was going to stop.. I am getting used to the heavier feeling, but occasionally I notice that it feels late getting through the ball.. When that happens I am usually Shorter than expected... But all in all I am loving the the Ball flight and Spin that I am noticing which is something I don't normally see..

@B.Boston, @daviddvm, @Headhammer, @edingc, And @GB13.. You all have done an outstanding job, Kudos to you all.. Clearly it is a 2 horse race to the Finish unless someone can pull a rabbit out of their Hat..
I like others have not followed along as much as in the past, but I'm a little disappointed in the lack of smack talk from our resident smack talker @GB13.. the level of BS from him has clearly dropped off, is that a product of humility?? Hmmmm
Any way you all have done great, @B.Boston and @daviddvm nice Summer..

Were they REALLY tour pros, or are you being facetious?
facetious, I shot a 84 they all had to be close to 100's yet they would all wait at each ball and all would watch it then talk about it then go to the next ball.. My grandson who was playing only his 2nd real round had to wait on a few occasions since He might hit into them and his longest Drive was 164.. Not that I have any issues with them playing and playing poorly we've all done it.. but please play ready golf or at least ask us if wanted to play through.

@dlow206, Have you been using a driving range?? Which one? @IDontGiveAchuck has gone to both the Super Range on 128th in Everett, they have top tracer and Choice Turf in Snohomish and they Trackman if you want to get some real numbers on how you are doing...
