  1. Welcome @nate.graham13!

    I game:

4 wood (Cobra Aerojet 3 wood lofted up to 16degrees)

6 wood (Cobra Aerojet 5 wood lofted up to 19.5 degrees)

    4 iron (ping i210 22.5 degrees)

But everyone’s swing/delivery is different! For some, this gapping would result in clubs that would all carry around the same distance - not ideal, but for me it works! Best to identify what you need the club to do(specific yardage, tee shot only etc) and try everything you can to fit the niche: happy tinkering!

  2. So I was able to get some data on the 23 tour x head to head with the 21 tour x and the 21 provlx: these numbers are mine, and your experience may vary, but for me it shows that the new maxfli tour x is just as good as the 21 tour x, and for my money, as good as Titleist.

I hit about 10 shots from each distance with each ball, except for the Driver since I was pretty gassed by that point! I hit:

    50 yard

    100 yard

    180 yard

    230 yard

    300 yard

I really don’t see a statistical difference between these balls: I’m sure if my sample size was larger the numbers would be even closer! Ball speed, launch and spin numbers were all in the ballpark of each other. And when you factor in the cost difference between a dozen maxfli(or who am I kidding, a cube) and a dozen Titleist, I don’t see a need to pay more.  I have buddies that still razz me about playing an “inferior” golf ball; but the scorecard doesn’t have pictures, only strokes…

  3. I can’t do anything with a hybrid besides hook it. 5 wood recently kicked my 2 iron out of the bag, as the 2 iron was really a tee-shot only club for me. 5 wood is much more versatile for me.

What does everyone think about the PTC release?

I personally love it and it actually makes me want to game it, however I am also a lefty so no dice here.

Cobra traditionally does such a good job with their limited releases.

Love it! Prefer it to the regular version

  5. So, I talked a lot of smack about this driver when it was released. No milling, interesting, almost TM-like color ways, etc. I was way out of pocket talking about the Aerojet before hitting it. Like dead wrong. I cracked my LTDx LS, and my guy at club champion gave me a Aerojet LS head to use for the weekend(my company was having 1 of our 2 annual scrambles)The sound and feel are vastly superior to the LTDx. It wasn’t any longer, but it looks great in the playing position, and imo, just sounds amazing at impact. No need to run out and scoop one if you have the LTDx, but a fantastic club nonetheless.

Checkin time!  I had a few minutes today on lunch and tossed my GW on the Planemate for a little partial swing checkup.

Who's still using planemate?  Anyone give up or more on to something else?  I need to review the protocols and see what I should be looking to do in the Spring as I haven't dug into some of the advanced protocols yet.

Gave up on mine: my instructor didn’t like how it encouraged an early wrist set for me, nor how vertical I got the shaft during takeaway. For me, it made me too concerned with what my arms where doing in the backswing.

... I hear ya and waiting a year or more makes perfect sense. At age 69 I am fighting a losing battle but fighting none the less and I only have so many "I'll buy next years model" left before my distance falls to where clubs/shafts won't make that much difference. So if something blows me away when released I will purchase it, but that very rarely happens.

Totally agree, I too can be swayed on occasion. Probably not on a driver(see previous post), but I did swoon for my i59’s. And I know plenty of people who balked at that price. But they came out when I was already looking, and once at the fitting, they didn’t deter me from pulling the trigger. Timing is everything, right?
