Hi everyone... I'm Jason from Franklin Massachusetts (home of the nation's first public library!)  

I play weekly in a 9 hole scramble league at work.  It's a lot of fun, but playing best ball sometimes screws up my game so I try to get out and play 18 as often as I can.  

Golf is expensive in Massachusetts!  So I usually try and take a day off during the week to play a round.

I always like to walk and my theory is that you can never have a bad day on the course because of the beautiful walk.  

I've been playing on and off for about 15 years and have never had a lesson.  Through trial-and-error, tinkering, helpful advice and research I've been able to get my hcp down to about 12.  My lowest round was 81 (last year) and I shot 82 a couple of days ago.  

I'm desperate to break 80 and used to shoot in the 90's so I know it can be done... 

Love all things golf and looking forward to checking out more of the forums.

I've played in a lot of places ...

On Saturday I played at Glen Ellen in Millis ... 30 dollars after 3:00 and the course was pretty empty.

I like New England CC but my favorite, affordable course is Blissful Meadows.

I've been able to play at Franklin CC due to some friends having memberships and that place is pristine!

I haven't played Glen Ellen in years. I thought it was closed! I'm not a fan of New England CC but Blissful Meadows is really nice. I've only gotten on Franklin CC once and It is Beverly nice

Thanks... always looking for new places to try!

 

I thought glen ellen was in pretty good shape.  They've really cleaned it up.  The greens rolled pretty well, tee boxes & fairways were in good condition too.  Certainly not a challenging course and a bit boring on some of the holes, but it's pretty inexpensive and relatively close.

 

I try not to drive more than 1 hour to play and have been pretty successful in finding public/semi-private places.

Thanks!  I'm a PacNorWesterner myself.  Born and raised right outside of Eugene OR and was stationed at Camp Pendleton.  All my family is still out there.  

  

Love the west coast!  Absolutely gorgeous scenery and played Bandon Dunes before it became "known"... We used to go to the shark festival in Bandon and to the state park there.

I was born in Eugene but went through school in Corvallis.  Go Beavs!!  Bandon is a special place.

Horseneck beach is about 15mins from me.

 

Lucky you!  I'll be there tomorrow afternoon with the fam...  My wife is dying to live that close to the beach.
