bardle
The wife had to work tonight so I stopped in and played 9 holes after work. jaxbeachpackerfan
First hole last Tuesday, 10th on TPC Dye's Valley course. Hit a 9 iron from 137 dead on the pin, high trajectory. We all saw heading for the pin, but no one saw it hit. There's a swale in front of the green, we thought maybe it was short (though it felt like I flushed it). There was also a ridge on the green about 5 yds beyond the hole, maybe I airmailed it. We drove up to the green, no ball. Only one place it could be--and sure enough, in the cup slam dunk for an eagle two! Didn't even damage the hole cut, just a very slight nick. Coupled with a par on the very tough par 3 11th, it was an awesome start to the round. Finished 40/41 81 with FOUR three puts. Gravitykillr
Best shot today would have be on the 4th hole, hit a nice 8 iron off the tee (not the shot) and had 125 yards to the tee and pulled my GW (120 yards usually) and swung a bit harder and put it past the pin but felt great to hit a shot like that and then converted the biride putt. bardle
This is gonna be a weird one but how about just a well played hole. It's not often that I remember a hole because.of how good all my shots were. So here goes. Dogleg left par 4. Hit a perfect 5 iron about 190 right to the middle of the fairway at the turn. 155 left. Pin placements were abysmal today. It was tucked to the right in between two bunkers in the most narrow part of the green. So I hit my 8 iron to the biggest part of the green. Perfect shot. High, straight. A slight draw. Lands a little more left than I wanted but whatever. GIR. walk up and I have about 40 feet. All the way across the green to go. So I take a poke at it after a quick read and what do you know. I lagged it to about 2 ft for the tap in par. I know it's not a 300 yd 3 wood. But I felt like I knew what I was doing for maybe the first time ever on a golf course. tommc23
Hit my 5i into a green on a par 5 after poor course management. I thought I was on the other course and hit a mid iron off the tee and i messed up my 3w. The 5i was perfect right to left shape, needed this shape due to water the whole left of the green and bunkers whole right, landed the middle of the green and it stopped this fast. Greens were soft from being punched and it was very slow due to it being sandy. Main reason it was my shot of the day was I hit the right to left shot I needed and that's the opposite of my stock shot shape, plus stopping like that was cool. Sluggo42
Played again today, kind of a struggle all day, but putter and wedge killed it to save the scorecard. Best shot was the last putt of the day, with 5 skins on the line. 16 footer, uphill with a 6â€left break the last 3 feet. Do, or push all the skins onto oblivion, as everyone else was done. Let everyone throw their “pressure intensifiers†out as I lined her up, and then just made a solid stroke. Saw she was on my intended line, and started to walk her in, and fist pumped as she plopped dead center. BAM! That put was for $10 worth of skins... love it. PING Apologist #9
I was awarded the "shot-of-the-day" by my playing partners yesterday for draining a 20' birdie putt, but for me as exciting as that was (only my second bird ever), I actually had 2 other shots that really set the tone for my day that I think were more significant. Long par-5. Straight and wide open. I had "fired" my driver by this time, so I pulled out the 3w. Absolutely sculled the f*** out of it and it dribbled pathetically to just behind the ladies tees... Immediately fired the 3w on the spot and grabbed up my 5w and took the very short walk of shame up to it. I then just crushed out a super-sounding laser beam of a shot straight down the middle. My second shot with the same club was hammered also which got me to just short of the green and slightly left. Made bogie which I thought was a fine score after all that. The ball just would not go in the hole. Well I got to par 5, 18th, and I left myself a 25 footer for par, and the shot of the day I stepped up and drained it. for a smooth par. Why?? Why??
