I stepped on the scale Monday and was up 1.2LBS. I was shocked and disappointed at the same time. It was only one week, but I was in the gym 4 days last week. Plus I had close to 15,000 steps on Saturday and missed 25,000 on Sunday. My diet was just ok. My bad meals consisted of Jimmy Johns #11 on wheat, no mayo and added cucumbers and pickle's. That kicks a person right of keto, I made that choice as it was the one thing that wasn't a McDs or some other slope house around. This week being bummed about that I really messed up and stopped at a In N Out on Tuesday. My week has been busy with late meetings for football or Lacrosse. Which is making it hard to eat better. Ok Rant over. sorry about that. Moving on to the bright side.

Well, the bright side is that muscle weighs more than fat.  1.2 lbs can be nothing more than water retention if you've had too much salt.

Keep at it; it get much, much harder as you get older... I know!!

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Do you weigh yourself every day?

Weight can fluctuate several pounds from day to day, so seeing “large” differences week to week is easily feasible. But having a weekly avg which is pretty much how every nutrition coach I know or worked with so things helps understand what your weight is doing

Agree with that from experience.  Sandwich shop meats are usually really high in sodium.  Nothing drinking a bit more water and a little time won't resolve.

This now wraps up 2 full weeks of going to the actual gym again and lifting weights.  I definitely feel a lot better by adding weight training into the fold as well as cardio.  I've been playing basketball a couple days a week and on the other days have been to the gym.  I usually do a 2 mile run to warm up and then hit the weights pretty hard for about 45 minutes.  It's been a good routine and can honestly say if I just stick with it, I'll get to my goals.

Still a long way to go as the weight is definitely not shedding quickly, but I'll keep at it.

Unfortunately that doesn’t give an accurate reflection of how your week has gone. As mentioned by earlier by others some different foods, not properly hydrated, life stress and other factors can influence daily weight. Tracking weight at lead several times a week to tracking it every day will be more accurate reflection and you can see if you are achieving your goals better that way

My "Go To" once a day...

4 oz. Egg Whites, 1 Egg, Chicken Breast, Red Onion, Green Bell Pepper, Mushroom, Feta, Spinach, Tomato, black pepper, a couple dashes of Louisiana Hot Sauce... less that 400 cal, 50 grams protein... but moreover.... delicious.

I feel like my breakfast for the past 6 months has been 1/2 cup of Kodiak cakes pancakes, 1 cup of egg whites, 3 slices of Canadian bacon. 1 oz of shredded cheese. Ends up being just over 400 calories and around 50g protein. Occasionally a few other things get thrown in there or swapped, but that is the go-to.

Was not feeling it at all yesterday - wife was running errands most of the day so I had the kids at home.  I tried to do a peloton app cycle workout on my Schwinn Bike.  Got through about half and was not giving the effort I needed.

Decided to go to the gym once she did get back and really glad I did.  While I still wouldn't say it's my best workout, I got there and ran a quick paced mile for me (6:47) for warm up and did weight training for about 50 minutes afterward.

Down 2.6 LBS this week. Didn't make it to the gym once last week. Had meeting during my gym time, this week looks a little better and should be able to get 3 days in and then a walk on the course on Sunday.

I'm going back to doing early morning stretches that did late last summer and fall for football season.  With Lacrosse ramping up I at least want to feel like I can move. I won't be able to keep up with High school kids, I just want to look like the fat official on the field who can't move.

Good Luck this week stay the course

This thread has been helpful. I thought I’d share my journey this year so far.

i used to play D1 baseball and was in pretty good shape as a college center fielder. I am 10 years removed from baseball and haven’t really worked out much since. I gained 50 pounds over the course of the last ten years slowly but dang I can’t believe I got here. Well I heard about different diets but opted for weight watchers and goodness I am down 21 pounds since January. What helps me is I can eat all the foods I want, I just have to portion control. The weight loss occurred with a Súper bowl party where I ate terrible and valentines out with my wife I had am awesome 14oz ribeye. The only exercise I do is walking while I golf typically two rounds a week.

i hope to get past the 50 ive gained over the years and be slightly lower than my playing weight because back then I had a lot more muscle mass than I do now. But weight watchers has been awesome for me so far this year. I hope it helps with my golf game haha.

Stepped on the scale this morning and weighed the same as last week. 3 days in the gym only and was only able to get 9 holes in Sunday when we got rained out. Can't get my wife on board with the way I want to eat as she thinks what she is doing  is fine while in the same breath she complains about not being able to loose weight. It's like going the driving range with the same exact swing and expecting a different result.

Had a really good workout on Saturday and another good shoulder and tricep session tonight.

Going to get back in the habit of lifting weights and cardio.  Joined a local Planet Fitness and went over my lunch today.  Felt good to get back to lifting again.  Going to be sore tomorrow, but I can already feel this was the right move

A bit of an update.  I have been lifting about 4/5 days per week and staying on a good routine.  Probably need to switch it up a bit to be honest.  Weight isn't dropping that quickly, but I can notice the change in physique, which is much more important.

Played basketball this morning and back to weights and a little cardio tomorrow.

182 today (-2 from last week; -8 total since 1/19; 17 to goal).

Back to the office today after nearly 2 years of remote work... finding my routine during the work day will be a challenge...

181 today (-1 from last week; -9 total since 1/19, 16 to goal and counting!!)

I was able to play 27 holes this last weekend after a 6 week break due to injury... next step (literally) is to start walking the course again.

Down 31 this year from January. Walking multiple rounds a week definitely helps and weight watchers has helped me keep things in moderation. I love that I can still have pizza or whatever I feel but have to have in moderation. About 25 more from goal but I am only 8 pounds from where I was when I got married and 25 from my college baseball days

Great progress and this is what I have loved about the system that worked for me, Noom. No food was off limits just needed to manage the portions. Keep up the hard work.

This is what many of the dieticians, nutritionists and phd holders in various aspect of “nutrition” say. There is no such thing purely as healthy or “bad” foods. It’s about energy. Calories are energy. Depending on one’s goal they either need to be in a calorie deficit to lose(burn more energy than consumed), eating at maintenance or in a surplus to gain.  Obviously the more what people consider clean foods the better the body will perform. But like Layne Norton recently posted about the term healthy.

Compared to what

At what cost

Based on what hard data.

Layne has been a world class bodybuilder and power lifter using an approach of if it fits your macros or what is commonly referred to as flexible dieting. The coaches who use this philosophy talk about keeping food intake to an 80/20 or 90/10 ratio of good to bad food
