RoverRick
Tiger, Tiger burning bright, will make my Ryder Team tonight. Phil may not play every round but he is a must. Kuuuch! is also a definite, Finau vs Kisner is the only hard choice for me. Probably Finau but I would wait until the last possible moment to make this decision based on their most recent play. Golfspy_CG2
I'd like to see how the first couple weeks of the playoffs go. It'd be hard to not have Kuchar on the team. He is so well respected and a great teammate. Kisner and Stanley are both solid and could earn a spot the next couple weeks. Bryson is a mystery. The GC analyst say Tiger loves him and would glad,y partner with him. I didn't realize they were that close. fixyurdivot
So you're Jim Furyk, what the hell do you do? Bubba and Spieth have been inconsistent. Tiger seems to have found his 6th gear but does to not play as well in this event - team play. Still, there is no way in hell DeChambeau or Mickelson get the nod over him IMO. I'm guessing Phil goes as an alternate. Difficult choices for Jim and his fellow coaches to be sure. https://www.rydercup.com/rankings I don't know much about Le Golf National and whether the layout favors the Europeans or Americans. Lots of water holes and has a links-ish look to much of it. https://www.rydercup.com/course-tour#course The Euro team isn't looking too bad either, leaving Monty with some tough decisions ahead as well. SteddyGolf
Easy answer. You go with the guy with almost 100 tour wins. Regardless of past history Tiger has earned his spot if he so desires. Plus listen to this guys interviews. He is a different man. Life, through his own doing, has scuffed him up. I believe he is more we than me these days. I don't see that changing. Mr. 82
We need about 12 Brooks Koepkas. I'd absolutely pick Tiger, but I would leave lefty at home, or maybe as a Vice Captain. Phil's game is a mess right now IMHO and he's just aging. If I was in Furyk's shoes I would pick, Tiger, Kisner, Finau and Gary Woodland. Ultimately this is a team thing, so you sit down with each of the 8 team members who made the cup on points, and you ask each one of them who they want to be paired with, on or off the team, and then you go with that. Frankly, I know Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth with the perfect pairing in the past, but Reed is such an isolated head case that I would sit him down and ask him who he wants to be paired with not named Jordan Spieth. Because I think a Spieth/Justin Thomas pairing would be how I would go with this, which frees you up to match Reed up with whomever he wants. And I absolutely DO NOT pick DeChambeau. He's too quirky and totally out of the box for a team uniformity type of event. But Tiger and Phil both want him on the team, so what do I know. One last thought - UUUggghhhh... Bubba Watson. Who wants to pair up with him? He and Reed might be perfect for each other. Berg Ryman
Honestly, I think you guys are overthinking this a bit. 3 partnerships are already set with Johnson/Koepka, Spieth/Reed, and Thomas/Fowler. Leaves Bubba and Webb, who might pair well together plus the captains picks. With those, the first three are likely Bryson, Phil and Tiger. Here's the thing though, they don't have to play every match! In fact, I wouldn't play Tiger in Alternate Shot at all and Bryson probably sits the bench as well. Phil can play with most anyone so he may fit withs someone. For the last pick, it depends on who closes strong, like Ryan Moore in 2016. Tiger's gonna have some pull and he probably may want Kuchar on that team to partner with him, but Jim just saw what Tony Finau can do and it a birdie fest like the Ryder Cup, give me the dude who can make it happen. I'm more interested in the Euro Team, a lot of interesting choices out there for Bjorn to make. Obviously the team isn't locked in yet, but it's a team without some absolute star names on it right now and some high profile rookies. Right now it's Molinari, Rose, Tyrell Hatton, Fleetwood, Rahm, McIlroy, Alex Noren and Poulter. That last spot is Ian's by the slightest of margians and he could see it slip to Paul Casey or Thorbjorn Olesen. But no Sergio, no Stenson, no Westwood, and players out there like Cabrera Bello, Matt Fitzpatrick, Thomas Pieters, Russell Knox, and Alex Levy who could push for a captain's pick. Very interesting changing of the guard situation upcoming for the Europeans I think, which may see them get hammered in the cup by the USA In a Hoofer Lite bag TSR2, 10 degrees, A1 setting, Fujikara Speeder NX Blue 50-S Stealth, 15 degrees, VA Composites Nemesys 70-S E722, 19 degrees, Oban Devotion 80-S JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro 4-P, Nippon 950GH Stiff Flex CBX Zipcore 50* (bent to *49) and RTX Zipcore Tour Rack 54* (bent to *55), DG 115 Spinner, Tour Issue Staff Model TG 60*, Dynamic Gold 120 S300 SIK Golf Flo-C Tour B-XS (2022 Model)

Berg Ryman
BTW, just putting this out there for those of you who want to question Bryson playing in team events or match play because of his "different style". He played on the 2014 Palmer and 2015 Walker Cups, earning two points out of 4 in 2014, 2.5 points out of 3 in 2015, going 1W-1L-0D in 2014 in team play, 1-1-0 in singles, 2015 he won his only team match and went 1-0-1 in singles. Lastly, don't forget, he won the 2015 US Amateur, which had in the Round of 64 field, Beau Hossler, Jon Rahm, Paul Dunne, Robbie Shelton, and Maverick McNealy just to name a few. Scores in match play were 8&6, 5&4, 3&2 over Maverick, 3&2 over Dunne, 4&3, and a final romp over a guy I knew in Derek Bard 7&6 In all, dude has the bonafides and plays well in match play and in teams. Anyone who says his "different strokes" approach wouldn't fit well in team play isn't looking at this through fair eyes and accepts the narrative around him. bens197
Simply put, people want to crap all over Bryson because he doesn't play the phony smile and social media game like Kuchar or any of these other frauds. Bryson won the long drive at the PGA this year and donated the $25 grand to the Lyle family. Why aren't we discussing that? The kid has game. I'll never understand the logic of how golf fans support some players. We LOVED Reed at Hazeltine but the minute the guy wins at Augusta he's now public enemy? Please just stop.
