Golfspy_CG2
So im curious, why didn't anyone choose the HF1's? All yall's caps are in the same ballpark and it would have been nice to see if maybe the HF1's could have provided a better fit for that hdcp range. Maybe some more distance? I mean straight and long seems like a nice offering, or as they say, more of a “game enjoyment†iron. That sounds nice to me. The reviews are wonderful as always, but seems a little redundant? I wonder, could you get a mixed set? 5,6,7 in HF1 8,9,P in HF2 ? Fair question. Like the others I considered them. A couple things. I don't think we could hand donea combo set. They are so different in build. I can't see Bridgestone offering them this way. If you read Johns Blog piece the HF1 are really super duper GI clubs. I also had the benefit of talking to the local rep who is also a good friend. He had both sets. He wouldn't let me see them as he was under strict orders not to have them in the field until the embargo date. But he knew enough about me to say I definitely was more suited to the HF2. All that said. From reading Johns piece. I thought. Damn those things sound fun. MGoBlue100
To offset the loft and design differences you could go with a H1: 5 (plays like a 4),6 (plays like a 5), and 7 (plays like a 6) and a H2 7,8,9. Then you have the right gapping along with the forgiveness in the longer irons. I don't really care about the number on the sole as long as the gapping works. P.S. Great reviews guys, I enjoyed reading them. I hadn't thought about something like that, but I would TOTALLY do it. Sir Mix-a-Lot would be proud of the HF1's! After hitting the prior generation of the HF1, I talked with the guys in the pro shop about what type of market group was buying these clubs. They said that they have had huge success with people getting older, but want to hit the ball as far as they did 30 years ago. To Rob's point, it is one of the first forged clubs in the SGI category. Most of the guys that bought these clubs can play the blades and want the feel of blades, but their swings have slowed down due to age. Hence the lack in distance. Looking at the pictures, I don't think that market changed with the HF1s, but I think they just made them look better. Sure I have lost a fair amount, but I still have some decent swing speed for an out-of-shape, overweight, 50 year old. When I make decent contact with the HF2's, the ball flies high and about 1-2 clubs longer that my current irons. I don't feel like I need that much help at this point. MaxEntropy
Matt posted a few shots in the JGR wood thread, which makes sense - he was pretty much smoking the driver and 3w. I still have some sorting to do with those two clubs and the 3H, but the 4H is great for me. I also hit the irons pretty well. There were a few bad shots, as happens to someone of my skill level, but I think all of us were a bit shocked at some of the distance we were getting. I am grabbing 1-2 clubs less than I would, depending on the circumstances. 150 yards would normally be a stock 7 iron with my old clubs. Two very good shots for me on this hole. 241 with a 3H? 176 with a 6 iron out of some fairly juicy rough? Both very out of the ordinary for me. Apparently I should have grabbed a 7 iron. 4H 220 yards and a 127 yard GW? With my old clubs, that would be a 3H and a PW, maybe 9i. Another 150-ish 9 iron. All in all, I am very happy with the performance of these clubs. We'll have to see if my handicap starts trending in a good direction. Once I really have a handle on the distance, I have no reason to believe the clubs won't help me. Golfspy_CG2
HI guys! I was told that this was a must follow thread... so i am here! It's gonna take me a little bit of time to catch up but i look forward to learning about the clubs, the testers and of course, getting REAL feedback from REAL people! You'll find out there is life other than Cobra Connect..ha Yeah, it's been some good stuff over the last month for all three of us, of course we couldn't talk about it until last week. You can imagine how hard it was for me to keep quiet about new irons...ha tommc23, MaxEntropy, Nunfa0 and 2 others 5 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number
oaks
I hope they come back to glory. I loved my J33s, J36s. These look great - maybe closer to my old TS-201's or are they bigger?
