PMookie
Well, I signed on the MANY dotted lines today, closing on our next home. We're pretty excited, and I'm for sure blessed. BUT, here's what I need suggestions on: I finally will have a GARAGE!!! I'm thinking that MY side will need an appropriate net, hitting mat, putting mat, etc. So, I'm looking for suggestions. I've been roaming around the various threads on these, but what have you found for your garage, or basement, "man cave", that I should really look into for having somewhere to hit and putt on rainy days? I can't afford a launch monitor, so that's out, but anything else is helpful, even club/shoe storage. I'll still need to be able to keep it all "condensed"... Thanks! Our winters are pretty cold and my garage ceiling is a normal 8' height so I can't practice there. However I have a couple of golf organization ideas you could utilize. The first is a bag rack - a wooden stand that holds both my wife's and my golf bag. It also has shelves above it for misc golf stuff including found balls, extra headcovers, etc. next to it is a shoe rack that holds 8 pairs of golf shoes (her's and mine). GB13
I use this net: https://m.dickssportinggoods.com/p/callaway-7-zenith-hitting-net-15cwyucllwy7znthhtrn/15cwyucllwy7znthhtrn It is fairly small, compact, cheap, and the frame is great and durable. The net on the inside is crap though, it rips in a few hits. So, I got a canvas tarp here: https://www.menards.com/main/tools-hardware/automotive/towing-cargo-management/tarps-accessories/yardworks-reg-8-x-10-green-industrial-strength-canvas-tarp/t203013mnd/p-1444437038030.htm I then zip tied this to just the BACKSIDE and top of the net to take care of any balls that go through. As "Frankenstein" like as this sounds, it is significantly cheaper than a $500 impact screen or net and works just as well, if not better. For a hitting mat, I'd spend a little bit more for top quality but if you can't, I'd get this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VGQYIGY/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and hit off the "teeing ground" side. It isn't great like a Real Feel mat but it works. Of course this is pretty much your "bare bones" approach to save a few bucks. This isn't going to be the pretties setup but it will be effective. Slap
The real feel mats are legit. I definitely know when I duff/chunk/fat a shot. I just got the combo mats for $170. These are split pieces but at least it’s not $400. The net return looks like a good product but is pricey. For now I’ll hit into some old spare full mattresses that I have though. But really indoor hitting requires a skytrak at least. You could also use alignment sticks to guide though. One at your feet and the other one on the target line a couple feet in front of ball. cnosil
Congrats on the new home. Most people seem to have covered the full swing aspect. I like to focus on the short game. As part of the net, I’d look for some longer grass to simulate rough and not just fairway length. Get a putting setup that lets you practice 20+ footers; being able to practice distance control indoors would be a dream for me. There are mats that offer variable speed depending on which direction you are putting.
