Buffly
I am looking for a switch to a new golf shoe because my old shoes have broken down and I have developed plantar fasciitis. Must have: Wide size available - I wear a 12 extra wide but I can fit into a wide shoe in a pinch Comfortable to help my plantar fasciitis heal Price is reasonable - I can only afford a modestly priced product in the $60 to $160 range. Some level of durability to last at least 6 months I have tried FootJoy Superlites, FJ Tour something or other, and New Balance - the FootJoy Superlites are the only ones I liked enough to buy a second pair. I have been thinking about spikeless as an option for more comfort?? I live in Southern California so waterproof is nice, but not a necessity. Any people able to guide me in the right direction? Alf. S
Sketchers, I've just bought a pair of go pro v4 and really like them but this also do a lot good spikeless shoes. That are comfortable and light. Worked for a month is San Diego a few years back and had my clubs with me so was out every weekend playing golf and sampling the delights of the course in that part of the world. BMart519
Bad timing... Adidas had a Black Friday sale with 50% off the Tour 360. I picked up a spikeless pair for $105 CAD or like $70 US. I would hold on and see if you can find a Boxing Day sale. They have great cushioning in the heel and the arch support seems excellent. I tried on the PJ Pro SL in store which seemed really comfortable but I couldn't find a good sale at year end. juspoole
I was going to also mention Ecco and Skechers. Also, I wouldn't normally recommend Nike, as I don't usually think of them as much for comfort. However, the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour in a wide, I think would be great for you. I found a steal of a deal last year and tried them on a whim. The normal width is a bit wider than the norm already and the comfort is just outstanding. PMookie
I have the same issue right now with plantar. First, go to a podiatrist and get the shot! It helps a TON! Secondly, don’t go the Ecco route: nowhere near enough cushioning. I’d suggest Skechers, or even the Adidas Code Chaos... Definitely go spikeless. Do the stretches religiously, and you’ll see relief quickly if you also get a cortisone shot! Middler
I feel your pain. I had plantar fasciitis this past Spring, mostly my left foot, and it was awful for golf and in general. I put quality PF insoles ($50 ea, not the drugstore cheapos) in all my shoes, and started doing PF stretches and exercises. The insoles and exercises did wonders though it took about 6 weeks to clear up. I also bought some Adidas CodeChaos spikeless shoes, where I only had spiked FJ DryJoys and FJ Contours before. And my feet (and back) feel noticeably better after a round wearing the CodeChaos instead of either spiked FJ. I highly recommend the Adidas CodeChaos shoes if you’re in the market for spikeless, but try on whatever interests you as well. I could not play golf without a riding cart in Spring, since October I have been walking 18 with a push cart twice a week in any of my current shoes (with quality insoles) and PF hasn’t been an issue anymore. You can reverse PF but it may not be as simple as changing shoes - the exercises, stretching and insoles might be worth your while. Buffly
Thank you all! I am happy to report that Santa delivered a pair of Sketches spikeless golf shoes. I opened the shoes to my surprise, to find exactly what had been surmised. Not only a pair of shoes of my desire but a few $20s to refill my wallet. Apparently, I ordered the shoes myself, totally forgot, my family swooped them, wrapped them, and gave them to me for Christmas with cash for the amount I spent on them. I can neither confirm nor deny any memory of ordering the shoes. My work load has been extreme as of late so, I am not surprised I forgot about them. It turned out to be one of the best parts of my Christmas holiday this year. The look on my families face when I was clueless to where they found exactly what was on my wish list was priceless. Jackal
I bought a pair of Callaway La Grange shoes. They show to be around $250 regular price. Rock Bottom golf had them on sale for $69. They are a size 14 M. The only pair left. My feet were getting wet in my Adidas mesh golf shoes. These shoes are SO comfortable. They feel as nice as my everyday Skechers shoes. They are really comfortable. Just check some of the outlets and places. You might luck into a brand that is marked down, or close out. Buffly 1 Quote Always chasing different clubs Link to comment
