GolfSpy BOS
Was at Dick's Sporting Goods earlier today to pick up a goalie street hockey stick for my middle child and a dozen Maxfli Tour balls for my dad's birthday so he doesn't go into the season playing noodles again... but that's a story for another time. Got to roll a few Ping putters, not the PLD, but same shapes from the 2021 lineup. as much as I am a sucker for a good Anser blade the Prime Tyne 4 might be the shape that gets me to game a mallet. I've been a fan of that shape for a while and think the PLD might be right up my alley. Going to have to take a little more serious look at these. Popular Post dlow206
Had my PLD custom in-person fitting today with Jeff. Was an awesome experience. A little about the fitting: First reviewed my iPing data and talked about about my putting and my problem areas as well as preferences Took static measurements Started with some putts with the iPing with a PLD anser as a baseline. Also used the video technology they have in the room to show where my eye line was in relation to the ball I have a pretty strong arc, so Jeff wanted to compare my iPing stats between the slight arc putters (plumbers necks) and strong arc putters (flow necks). My iPing handicap was about 1.0 with the plumbers neck Anser and +1.0 with the Kushin 4, so my consistency was generally better with the Kushin 4 We discussed and concluded that a flow neck would be the best option Grabbed the Kushin 4, a Tyne, and a DS72, all flownecks Based on my static fitting and how my eyeline was in relation to the ball, Jeff recommended a 31.5" putter. i normally game a 31" putter All off the fitting PLD custom putters are 35" and have the midsize Ping grip on them. Jeff took me back to the WRX department build area and cut the Kushin 4 fitting putter down to 31.5" for me to try and added some lead tape to get the head to 365 degrees Went outside on the outdoor green and hit a bunch of putts with the 3 putters. putted decently well with all three, but decided i liked the Kushin 4 the best Tour of the WRX department at Ping was cool, its where they build the custom PLD putters and a lot of the Tour stuff. All of the Ping PLD custom putters are milled there, got to meet the guy who was running the milling machine and the guy who builds at the PLD custom putters. Also saw the build equipment they have, puts my garage shop to shame (my garage shop is not too shabby) After deciding on the Kushin 4, talked through some of the final options such as alignment aids, engraving, etc. I didn't have any good ideas for engraving, so went with no engraving, wanted to give it a clean look sirchunksalot, GolfSpy BOS, JohnSmalls and 7 others 6 4 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 07/15/2022 Driver: Rogue St Max LS - Autoflex Fairway Woods: Rogue Max St 3HL and 7 Wood Irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal 5 to AW - Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff parallel tip Wedges: Glide 4.0 54 and 58 Putter: PLD Custom Kushin

Congrats on the gorgeous wand! -Swanson Thanks. My one time on the putting green, the first reaction was that it defintiely feels a bit firmer and faster off the face than the insert. I quickly got used to that and adapted after a few putts. I will have it on course for the first time on Thursday for 18 holes, maybe a few holes Wed if I get a chance. Golfspy_CG2
Got it on the course today for it's maiden voyage, just 9 holes. First putt with it, no time on the putting green straight tohole 1. 15 footer for par, rolled it in with just enough to drop over the front edge. Nice! I had a few holes where my speed control was a bit off, but those were also holes that had a bit of a downhill to them. Overall very happy with the way I putted, didn't miss any stupid 2 or 3 footers. Most everything was in the 5 to 20 foot range and two putted most of those, did have one 3 putt that was just a severe under estimatte on the amount of break. I like the feel and the sound is very soft. Not as hard or loud as you might expect from a non insert steal face. Tomorrow I have a league round for 18 holes so we will see how it does in a "real" competiion. Taylorlong1
I had a similar first putt experience with my Anser PLD - arrived last week just in time for my round. I literally was taking the plastic off at the green, had never putted it, and sunk a 12 foot breaking putt to save par. Great start to the relationship! I couldn’t miss that day. null
So I still have (and will always have) the Ping PLD Miller Anser. It is beatufiul. Perfect Anser head, beautiful black shaft and the PP58 midsize grip make it timeless. However, something has just been off for me with it and I cannot put my finger on it. I went to my local GG and rolled it side by side with the Anser 2 and for me there was quite a noticeable difference between the 2. The Anser felt almost "lighter" than the Anser 2 and led to an inconsistent stroke for me. With the Anser 2, it felt more natural for me to take back and easier for me to return at a consistent path and face angle. The Anser 2 also feels better at impact for me. It produces a deeper sound, while the standard Anser comes off a bit high pitches/hollow sounding. Is it because of the black finish? Is it because of the graphite shaft? Not sure, but it is noticeable to me. So I did what any reasonable golfer would do: I used all my saved up gift cards and bout the Anser 2 ejgaudette, Golfspy_CG2, cjeffs12 and 1 other 3

Softer putter shafts will slow you tempo and stiffer shafts will up you tempo. All about the feedback the player gets fro the putter. People always say that the putter swing is too slow for this type of stuff to matter but it really does matter. ajbillingsatx
Big fan of the PLD Milled Tyne 4. I also have a Ping Vault 2.0 Dale Anser and a PLD Milled Anser, but the Tyne 4 is my favorite. The Dale feels great but is more "clicky" and has been my gamer for the last 4 years, the PLD Anser feels and looks great (but haven't tried it off the practice green yet. Sometimes my alignment/aim gets wonky so I'm excited to see how I do without any alignment lines), and the Tyne 4 is rolling really well right now. Definitely a slight change in feel from the Dale, but leaving less putts short. Golfspy_CG2
Thanks. As mama said, there’d be days like that Rustic Canyon is a great course only played it once but would love to have had another chance at it. I’ll put it on play this week. At least two rounds coming up including another in the tour series.
